This is my first ever taste of Egyptian pizza pie but it won't be my last. We grabbed a couple of pies to go. The joint is casual but spotless and well presented. I took a few pics because--did you see that oven!!!--and also, the process is fascinating. The skill level is very apparent. We waited to get home before digging in....The pie dough is so thin, light, and crispy! The filling rich, moist, flavorful, and delicious but the whipped garlic dipping sauce is the star! It just takes it all over the top. So, we got one beef and one chicken shawarma and both are on point. The folks there were super friendly and very helpful! I tried the rice pudding (I have NEVER had rice pudding that I like) and I LOVED the rice pudding. I have no words... Would totally have a Turkish cafe and rice pudding for breakfast. We decided last minute to take a 4 hour trip to Charleston. Along the way I read tons of reviews and tried to decide where we would eat first. I came strictly for seafood but this place caught my eye. We ended up at Egy Pie and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!! I called our order in and asked that the pizza be ready when we arrived in town. It was ready and.... I ordered the wrong thing, SMH!! The staff was SO nice about it and they fixed me the pie I meant to order when I showed them the picture. While waiting, due to my own error, we were offered rice pudding. It was TO DIE FOR!!! When you order it get the pistachio and honey on top!! When we finally made it to our hotel room, we devoured the pie! I ordered the mixed Shawarma and it was amazing! The flavor was banging, the ingredients were seasoned well and the pie to cheese ratio was perfect! If you're looking for a great pie and even better service, give these guys a try!! We will definitely be going there on every trip to Charleston moving forward!!! read more

Finally!! A Pie that is "Outside" The box when it comes to Pizza style pies. Their Pies are "Awesome!" Think of a desert pie but stuffed with meats, cheeses, etc with a crust that is like the most flaky biscuit you have ever tasted. This place is incredible! My family and I tried the mushroom pie and chicken kabob wrap. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of the chicken kabob because it was eaten too fast lol. Friggan damn good. Tired of plane Jane take out? Grab a pie. I snagged a mixed meat shawarma pie and a basbousa and it hit the spot. Marinated meat,cheese and veggies all baked in phillo dough. Deff give this a try. I'm definitely gonna eat my way through the menu. read more

Picked up 2 stuffed pies to go, the mixed meat and them the mixed shawarma. Having never tried an Egyptian pie I was not entirely sure what to expect, but wow, this place knocked it out of the park. This thin, almost filo-like dough creates a perfect light and crispy capsule for the even more delicious filling. I liked the shawarma just a bit more, but both pies were excellent. I might never go back to regular pizza again (ok, that's a lie, I'll definitely still eat 'traditional' pizza again but I'll also be back to Egy Dough again as well). This was delicious! My wife and I are foodies and we haven't had anything like it in the Charleston area. I got the mixed cheese pie and she got the egy pie and both we're delicious. The staff were very pleasant and friendly. We already have our pies picked out for next time. read more

If you are remotely close to this place you must check it out! For lunch yesterday we split a mixed meat regular pie which was delicious and so much fun to watch the guys in the kitchen making it! The rice pudding was also amazing. What it lacks in curb appeal it more than makes up with everyone's warm welcome and awesome food. I will definitely be back. read more

Cannot say enough good things about this gem of a restaurant. The staff is incredibly nice, the space is pretty awesome, and the flaky, savory pies are absolutely amazing! Have tried chicken shawarma, pastrami, minced meat, and mushroom, and they are all excellent. I think I am addicted to the dipping sauce. Tried a dessert pie (the mixed fruit one) for the first time recently and was blown away. My daughter is a huge fan of the fresh juices. Great spot for a quick meal, and it's a great value. One piece easily feeds two hungry adults, but why not get two and have leftovers--the pies reheat beautifully in a 350 degree oven. read more

Tried Egy Dough (short for Egyptian Dough) on Christmas Day 2024, as we saw they were surprisingly open that day! Never had this ethnic cuisine before, but are SO glad we wandered in there! We'll definitely be back, as everything we ordered was fantastic! Especially adored the shrimp/tuna/calamari seafood pie, the beef shawarma pie, rich rice pudding and another dessert called om ali. Make sure to order their strawberry juice, too, as it was like an ice cream shake, thick and bursting with fruit goodness. Their pies are not like a savory pizza or a sweet pumpkin. They come circular, like an Italian pizza, but are a spectacular flaky, crunchy crust (on top and bottom). Oozing with cheese and stuffed with specialty meats, veggies, etc. Next time we look forward to ordering their traditional pizzas, as the pics of them look equally scrumptious. Our waiter was so welcoming and helpful, in describing the food and ensuring we were well taken care of. This eatery is authentic Egyptian, run by family and staff of that heritage. When you first enter, you're met by a friendly pizza maker, spinning and shaping their specialty doughs. And their tiled pizza oven, which heats up to 800 degrees, perfectly crisps the baked items they serve. Too, the decor is casually pleasant.
