    a food truck at night

I was staying at a hotel just down the street from Sam's Kitchen and I was hungry around 11pm after a long drive three hour drive from Charlotte, NC. There aren't many reviews on Yelp for this spot, but I took a chance anyway because I didn't want to drive too far from where I was staying. I ordered the loaded lamb fries and took it back to my hotel. I was concerned the fries would get soggy since there wasn't any opening or vent on the takeout container and I was out for a bit getting gas before returning to my hotel. The fries managed to stay crispy and the overall dish was hot and tasty. I'm so glad stumbled upon this place and gave them a try. Good portion, great tasting food and reasonable prices.

Lamb over Basmati Rice with lettuce and garlic aioli

Exactly what you need when you want a filling meal that tastes good, and doesn't leave you feeling gross. I stumbled upon Sam's Kitchen late on Saturday night. Realizing that I didn't have the energy to cook, I browsed through Uber Eats looking for something other than burgers and fried chicken. The Lamb Over Basmati Rice dish was excellent. The best way to enjoy the plate is to drizzle the Garlic Aioli over the lamb and rice. It was so good that I ended up ordering the exact same plate again only a few days later.

I got the grilled chicken platter and the hummus with pita. These are separate items on the menu. The food was so good! I'm from California I'm I'm used to the rice being plain at Mediterranean restaurants. The rice is well seasoned as well as the chicken! The hummus was great too! I came here twice on my short visit to Charleston.

A few months ago, Sam's Halal Kitchen popped up on Savannah Hwy, between Dupont and Wappoo Rd. It's open late, and my husband and I noticed it on nighttime drives from downtown Charleston. As lovers of Middle Eastern food, we checked it out on a chilly Saturday afternoon. I had a Falafel Veggie Pita ($10.99), and my husband chose a Lamb and Chicken Pita ($10.99). We also had an order of fries to share ($3.99) and hummus with pita ($7.99). Sam's Kitchen is a food truck and the location has no seating, so you'll have to take your food to go. Thankfully, our order traveled well and was correct (and still warm!) when we arrived home. Both sandwiches were heavy, and his was stuffed with meat while mine had four large falafels. The sandwiches here don't contain fries like some gyros, but the side of fries we ordered was plenty to share- they were hot and seasoned well. The garlic aioli goes well on the sandwiches. The hummus was delicious, but could use more pita bread- an order of hummus comes with five triangles of pita. We put some of the hummus inside our sandwiches and will eat the rest with chips. Sam's Kitchen participates in delivery/pick up apps like GrubHub and UberEats. Parking is also easy and plentiful, and we'll certainly be back.

We have passed by this food truck so many times, so tonight we decided t to not pass by but to give it a try. Glad we did! I ordered a green salad and a lamb gyro. The salad was huge and fresh. The gyro was packed with tender lamb. The tzatziki sauce was amazing. We tried the baba ghanoush, which was served with warm pita bread. My husband had the chicken curry, he said it was delicious and it was enough for 2 meals. Highly recommend...we will be back!

They were very helpful with my questions concerning my gluten allergy. They were able to confirm what was gluten free but it is also clearly marked on the menu. The food was fresh and amazing. The hummus is homemade. I had chicken Lula and it was really well seasoned and some of the best I've ever tasted. The only downside was the price. It was quite pricy for a lunch but with that being said, I would still return for more of their food. I just wish I could have tried more of it.

What really separates these falafels is the robust range of spices and complex flavor into the traditional falafel, texture and flavors. The falafel appetizer platter came with four pieces and they were basically gone as soon as they arrived to the table as our entire family ate immediately. Including our pickiest eating family member, who enjoyed theirs too! Exceptional! The halloumi is fantastic and cooked perfectly. It had a nice seasoning on top of it which differentiated it from others I have had before. Everyone at our table enjoyed it. It came with four pieces. The grape leaves were a delight. They had a more robust complex flavor palette than Greek style grape leaves. They were served warm, however they were not dried out like sometimes grape leaves are when they're brought to a table warm. These were beautifully seasoned and had nice moisture to them. The size of each was about that of a ring finger. I can not remember hot many pieces were on the plate but it was more than 4. We ordered the chefs hummus with the pine nuts and pomegranate seeds. It was delicious and a great texture. Pretty much par for the course. My entrée was the Mujadra lentil and rice dish. The flavors were absolutely phenomenal. At first, I was thinking about getting the lentil soup for lunch, but then decided to try under the vegetarian section of the menu the lentil plate. The lentils and rice were placed in a circle mold on the plate. With pretty pieces of salad coming out from four different places. There were pine nuts, chopped, and placed a top of the rice and lentils. Everyone at the table tried my dish and even though we all four have very different favorite flavors and foods everyone agreed it tasted phenomenal and was absolutely delicious. Another family member ordered the lentil soup. They really enjoyed that and they also took some rice off of their spouse's plate and put it in the lentil soup which was a nice pairing. Spouse had the beef kebab cooked, medium rare. The temperature on the kebab for cooking was absolutely perfect! The texture pinkness, and overall cooking was beautifully done to a true medium rare. He had french fries as his side those were just as perfectly cooked as everything else that came out of the kitchen of this restaurant. They were nice and crisp with a good flavor. Three of our four family members tried and agreed they were very nicely done fries crispy all around and not floppy soft. Another family member ordered the Shish Tawook. They were completely in love and smitten with the garlic sauce that came with it. It is divine and tastes beautiful on the chicken. Rice was beautifully cooked as well. The accompaniments of lettuce, pita and oil was delicious. Dessert was baklava. Like every other part of the meal, we had it had a really nice blend of spices and flavor to it. We got it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. All of the desserts on the menu are made in house. One of our family members doesn't tend to like homemade ice cream however she liked this ice cream because she thought the texture was really brilliant for it being made in house at a restaurant. The baklava comes with three pieces. I would love for them to open a restaurant near where we live. If we lived here we would come in 2-3 times a week. Near the end of our meal, we heard some of the restaurant team speaking with another table of regulars. We overheard that they were short staffed that day as someone had called in. We never absolutely would not have guessed that. They seamlessly checked on our table, brought everything out in a timely manner, and none of the plates were hot like they had been sitting at expo waiting to come out to the table for a while. It was wonderful hospitality, with great care and checking in. Our server was a sweet and attentive person. Simply removing plates as we finished and refilling drinks. No one at our table was in want or need of anything as he kept it all well filled. I think the biggest compliment I can give is one family member always has room for dessert. They loved their meal in the appetizer so much they could not have any dessert. Which coming from them a huge dessert person is quite the praise.

Found this lil gem as we were out at the outlet Mall. Wow guys!!…read more I Love kabab but this is the Best place for Kebab I've found so far! The girls inside greet you as you walk in and they are never without their gorgeous smiles! This place feels like one big family dinner experience! All of the girls take very good care of you. You start out with an appetizer plate of sorts; really just an accompaniment to the Hot lil bread pillows of Yum (more on these in a bit!). A corn slaw served alongside a tangy delish yogurt and some sliced Green olives. Super yum! Now the PITA? Puffy little pillows of HEAVEN. The girls put them thru the salamander oven to toast up just before bringing them to the table. so when they set them in front of you? They are Piping Hot and Toasty, with a touch of sweet.... DELICIOUSNESS!!! We were going to order the kabab Mixed platter in order to try a variety of kabab; but our sweet server told us about a better way to go! Upon her recommendation we got two of the kabab plates, complete with salad and pilaf - AND we were still able to sample multiple kabab! I got the shrimp and lamb while the hubs got the beef and lamb. Complete the plate with a moist lightly flavored pilaf and the Jerusalem Salad and I'm Tellin you!! Drool Worthy!!! The kebab are cooked perfectly? With a lil pink onboard; and the flavor? Spiced PERFECTLY! Lamb with Zero gaminess and ALLLLL the YUM!! Slightly smoky from the grill and slightly sweet in the background. With hints of Cumin coming to the party. One of my Absolute favorite spices! The shrimp is sweet with undertones of citrus and something else I couldn't quite place These puppies are ginormous and cooked to plump juicy perfection! The salad is a fresh mix of cucumber and tomatoes w slight hints of mint and parsley and lemon heightened w just a touch of salt. This place is AWESOME!!! Istanbul Shish Kabab is a DEF stop thru when your in the Charleston area. Come by for top notch service and TOP NOTCH CUISINE!! Thanks guys we Will be back!!

I ordered to-go since I wanted to relax and eat in my hotel room. But I decided to go with the positive reviews I had seen--and I'm really glad I did. The cashier was incredibly kind and attentive, which made a great first impression. I ordered the mixed platter for one and swapped the lamb kofta for chicken kofta. Everything was delicious--flavorful, well-cooked, and satisfying. The chicken, steak, and kofta were all done really well. I especially loved that they give extra whipped garlic (because honestly, you can never have enough), and the bread... SO good. Fresh, warm, and easily one of the highlights of the meal. Overall, despite my initial hesitation, the food and service really won me over. I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try!

I visited Israel for the first time last year, and the atmosphere here was dead on, from the small child sweeping up out front, to the rather chatty sales pitch I got when I walked in, to the cuisine itself. I will say that I was a bit miffed that I thought from that conversation that I would be getting a hummus with falafel but I ended up with some pickled vegetables that I didn't really want. Nonetheless, the creaminess of the hummus, the parsley flavor that came out of my very green falafel, and the strong tahini note at the end were all winners. Having paid for an extra pita I was glad as it was just enough to get it all without a spoon. I also got a cake which was a thin wafer with a coffee-flavored icing and again a very nutty tahini flavor. I'd come back just for that. I was sad when the previous hummus place in downtown Charleston closed; the region could use something of this nature. And they appear to have a successful restaurant.
