Captain Grant and Mana were excellent guides on our trip and were informative on not just fishing but any of the questions we had about Kauai. Including my wife and I, our 13 and 11 year old boys went with us. They had a great time and learned a bunch. I had never been deep sea fishing in Hawaii before and the trip was worth it. While the biting was slow early, Captain Grant and Mana didn't give up and by the end our trip we were able to snag a 20 lbs. Ono. Biggest fish my boys or I have caught to date and wish we could have taken some to eat but our hotel had no where to cook it. However, the fish was a great experience and if we get the chance to go back to Kauai and Captain Grant is still guiding tours, we would definitely return to his boat. I called up Justin and explained I was really just looking to rent a rod to throw some frozen squid strips into the ocean. We met up at his kiosk in Koloatown and he gave me a quick primer on Hawaiian shore fishing before turning me loose with a rod, bucket, and a bunch of tackle. The best part? The price. Justin was totally cool with letting me head out on my own and hooking me up wth a solid price to just use some gear for an afternoon. I went out and caught a few small fish, and met up with Justin the next morning to return the gear. All was good. We will definitely be returning to Kauai, and when we do, we'll be hitting up Justin again for a longer trip!
