I called up Justin and explained I was really just looking to rent a rod to throw some frozen squid strips into the ocean. We met up at his kiosk in Koloatown and he gave me a quick primer on Hawaiian shore fishing before turning me loose with a rod, bucket, and a bunch of tackle. The best part? The price. Justin was totally cool with letting me head out on my own and hooking me up wth a solid price to just use some gear for an afternoon. I went out and caught a few small fish, and met up with Justin the next morning to return the gear. All was good. We will definitely be returning to Kauai, and when we do, we'll be hitting up Justin again for a longer trip!

Came out here for the 4 hour deep sea fishing tour while on vacation on Kauai island. We were…read morepaired with 4 other people on this boat, 2 crew members and one captain. There was ample space for all of us on this boat with comfortable cushions to sit on inside and outside of the boat. We were able to catch 2 large yellowfin tuna. One person caught a 110, and we caught a 140 lb tuna. There was plenty of fish to go around and the crew cleaned and cut the fish for all of us to take home. Me and my boyfriend were able to take home several loins and otoro the fatty part of the tuna. I can't speak for everyone else but me and my boyfriend enjoyed ourselves and would consider doing this tour again if we come back again. The crew and captain were all good people and very helpful and enthusiastic.

Yesterday we went on the most memorable deep sea fishing trip we could have ever hoped for. We are…read morein Kauai for our Anniversary/Babymoon and I'm very obviously 6 months pregnant. Jason was our captain and the three of us set out on a half day charter fishing trip on a day with 6ft swells. I was pleasantly surprised that he took my pregnancy in stride, checked on me throughout the trip to make sure I was okay, but never made me feel incapable. From the moment we stepped onto the boat, it felt like we were just hanging out with a friend. He showed us around the ocean, gave us some history of the island and taught me about the basics of deep sea fishing. I went on this fishing trip for my husband. I know nothing about boats or fishing terms but I felt totally comfortable. Jason was the most friendly, relaxed, down to earth, knowledgable, and passionate captain we could have ever hoped to take us on this trip. The moment the spools started spinning, we knew we had something huge on the line. Jason sprung to action, I took the wheel, and my husband took the reel, and Jason took the line. Jason was so coordinated in letting us both know what to do and when. It looked like a perfectly choreographed dance. His quick lesson on how to keep the line directly behind the boat made me feel confident when I took the wheel. After 22 minutes of a hard battle, the two of them reeled in approx 165 lb Yellowfin Tuna (we get the final weight today!). The entire time, Jason was leading us, but it felt like we were a team. From cruising around on the ocean, catching a tuna, to meeting his awesome Fiancé (owner of No Problem Charters)- the entire experience was something we will never forget. I can't imagine we would have come even close to this kind of experience on another charter. Lee is currently on maternity leave but you can see that her passion, knowledge, and personality are so similar to Jason and I have no doubt that when she gets back on the boat, she will give the same amazing experience as Jason. It was just our family and another couple on the small boat. I think there were about 8 rods in the water. John and Joe were the very chill captain and crew. We also saw a whale jump out of the water! Beautiful day! Highly recommended for those who want a relaxing, chill, fishing experience - not a touristy event. These guys were mellow and experienced fishermen. Not talkative but helpful- which I appreciated. Be aware that the sea was very rough. If you get sea sick, this isn't for you! The other couple on board spent the whole time upchucking overboard. We love the sea, so it was perfect for us. Our teens loved it because they love outdoor adventures. But young kids and feint of heart might want to pass. We were on rough water for 4 hours!
