I was referred to Dr Epstein in 2023 for a procedure called Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL). As I was tired of my eyes being tired all the time from contacts and glasses, plus the inherent risks of wearing them at my job I pursued the surgery with Dr Epstein and Chicago Cornea. First off, I could not be happier with staff at the offices. They were professional and kind and I rarely had to wait long to be seen. Second off, Dr Epstein was great to work with. He was able to answer every question and I never felt uncomfortable. Now to answer the question about ICL. I could not be happier with the results of the surgery. Within days of the surgery I was able to see "normally", which I had not experienced since I was 8 years old. 14 months later and my eyes are 20/20. I do not experience tired or dry eyes and I do not have problems with bright lights and "haloing" as several of my friends and family experience still from LASIK and PRK. Ultimately I feel the ICL surgery is a life saver for me and my job as I need to be able to see in great detail and in any conditions without fail. If you are not a candidate for LASIK or PRK, do not hesitate to see if you are a candidate for ICL. My only regret is not finding the procedure sooner (it's been around for quite some time).

I'm the only pt in the waiting room but I figure maybe the dr is running late. I go up and ask what the status is for the appointment and Mellisa says it may be 2 to 3 hours." I said did you say 2-3 hours? And she said yeah ... then the other desk admin employee said yeah it's not unusual to wait for appointments for 2-3 hours sir. I said both of you have to be kidding. I said I want to talk to an office manager and they said she wasn't there and I said I will just stand here until someone comes and explains to me why I will be waiting 2-3 hours for an appointment I Made months ago. After another 20 minutes my dr comes out and she looks irritated doesn't greet me and says "come back with me" I said no I want to talk about this out here. I said why do you have staff telling people it will be a 2-3 hour wait for a scheduled appointment and she said I can't come in here and snap my fingers I said what is the reasonable time to wait for an appointment? 15, 20, 30 minutes? fine, but not 2-3 hours that tells me you double or triple booked me in and now I have to spend half a day to be seen that's not ok. She said I was told when I booked the appointment it could take that long to be seen and I asked where in the documents I signed does it say that and I would not have made the appointment if that had been said upfront. I said I do not have a personal problem with anyone there but that their policy of doing this to someone is not ok and they either need to actually tell me people up front or see people in a reasonable time. She's so kind and always willing to hear me out and help fix an issue while I have one. The administrative staff here is also very nice. I can honestly say I've never had an issue booking an appointment. The office is clean, spacious and I get seen within a reasonable of time as well. Everyone wears masks and you don't feel like your health is jeopardy when you walk in here. I will continue to come here for all my eye care needs. I would definitely highly recommend this place for anyone who wants good, optimal eye health. I dare say that it is a bit expensive but you get what you pay for here so I believe the services you receive are well worth the money.

Very competent and understanding physician. Very straightforward in communicating diagnosis AND prognosis! I always ask a lot of questions and I always get a thoughtful and honest answer. Retinal issues are scary, complicated, and often emergent so I don't care if I have to wait long to be seen (which I haven't). Top Notch physician in many respects. I have been going to Dr. Wyse since before she started her own practice. She is an outstanding…read morephysician. And unlike many doctors, if u have a problem with your vision or scratch your eye, her staff will do their best to make room for her to see you on short notice. I had been to her many times bc of rubbing my eyes in my sleep augh. When Dr. Wyse began her new practice, it took me a while to find her (too long to explain in this review) and at that time, I was sure I had a serious problem. I called and explained I was and old patient but new to this practice and had not known she moved. Her incredible staff found me from her past information (I had moved) and found time to see me within 24 hours, and she diagnosed my detached retina and got me to a specialist in time for immediate care. Basically she saved my eye. Some people have complained about a long wait time. Please understand, if you are going to the very best, you should expect a long wait. Your eye will need to be dilated. You may also be tested for range of vision or blind spots, and based on your description of your problem, her office may decide to do this using equipment beyond someone just moving their finger around. This all takes time, even if you are the only person in the office. What else, when I was there last week, the staff did an incredible job with a busy practice, (made busier by end if year insurance rush) they are thorough and they care. Dr. Wyse herself is the kindest, most knowledgeable and experienced ophthalmologist I have been to and I have experienced the other end of the spectrum too. Last but not least, the office is clean and well maintained. There is current reading material. Have you ever been to an exam elsewhere, where you worried that you may be putting your chin on an unwiped chin or forehead rest? Or the magazines are a year old? That doesn't happen here. In sum, set aside time for your visit because your eyes will most likely be dilated. Bring headphones for an audiobook or podcast and let the staff know u will be relaxing that way. Bring sunglasses if u r driving home on a sunny day w dilated eyes. And know you are in good hands.

We finally had an opportunity to visit Zeifert when my husband decided to get a new pair of glasses. There was no need for an eye exam so we only experienced the store portion. It is as lovely inside as outside. Clean and organized. The bad: The initial portion of our experience was awkward - it took them a moment to start talking to us and then they were very focused on getting all the details of my hubby's insurance. The lady who was dealing with us kept asking her co-worker if she found the insurance info yet, if she can confirm it, is it there, does he have insurance, do you have it, did you find it...? I am really not sure why was this so important as the insurance only covered small percentage of the glasses cost, we still had to pay most of the total price. The good: Once she confirmed the insurance details, her demeanor changed, she smiled and started helping us choosing the frames. From then on, our experience was great. They have a nice selection and it took us a while to settle on the winner. They even had his prescription strength in stock so we were able to have the complete glasses at home that evening. Prices: It is hard to judge if the prices here are much higher than at any other eye glasses store, however based on the location I would say yes. Definitely not a bargain place :) Overall: If price is not a deciding factor, I would recommend Zeifert for your eyeglasses needs. Hopefully they will learn to provide good customer service from the very beginning, regardless of your insurance ;)
