Horrible experience at the Chicago cornea consultants in HLP, I made an appointment two months ago for 9:15 today. I go in and fill out all the paperwork and wait 15 minutes. I'm the only pt in the waiting room but I figure maybe the dr is running late. I go up and ask what the status is for the appointment and Mellisa says it may be 2 to 3 hours." I said did you say 2-3 hours? And she said yeah ... then the other desk admin employee said yeah it's not unusual to wait for appointments for 2-3 hours sir. I said both of you have to be kidding. I said I want to talk to an office manager and they said she wasn't there and I said I will just stand here until someone comes and explains to me why I will be waiting 2-3 hours for an appointment I Made months ago. After another 20 minutes my dr comes out and she looks irritated doesn't greet me and says "come back with me" I said no I want to talk about this out here. I said why do you have staff telling people it will be a 2-3 hour wait for a scheduled appointment and she said I can't come in here and snap my fingers I said what is the reasonable time to wait for an appointment? 15, 20, 30 minutes? fine, but not 2-3 hours that tells me you double or triple booked me in and now I have to spend half a day to be seen that's not ok. She said I was told when I booked the appointment it could take that long to be seen and I asked where in the documents I signed does it say that and I would not have made the appointment if that had been said upfront. I said I do not have a personal problem with anyone there but that their policy of doing this to someone is not ok and they either need to actually tell me people up front or see people in a reasonable time. I have been going here for years for both contact lenses and just annual eye check ups. Dr. Malooley is awesome. She's so kind and always willing to hear me out and help fix an issue while I have one. The administrative staff here is also very nice. I can honestly say I've never had an issue booking an appointment. The office is clean, spacious and I get seen within a reasonable of time as well. Everyone wears masks and you don't feel like your health is jeopardy when you walk in here. I will continue to come here for all my eye care needs. I would definitely highly recommend this place for anyone who wants good, optimal eye health. I dare say that it is a bit expensive but you get what you pay for here so I believe the services you receive are well worth the money. read more

I would say I wish they provided more need to know information before the my surgery and painted a more realistic picture of what recovery would be like , that being said ... the surgeon (Dr parag Marjmadar) did a good job and I'm Happy with the results. My follow up appointments with Dr Belasco were positive experiences. He answered all my questions with good detail , never rushed me and seemed to really care about my recovery. Showed compassion and empathy for me when I was in pain. I also always get timely call backs from the nurses/ surgery coordinator's when I need assistance . read more

I trust Dr Epstein and he has served me well. It is true, it takes months to get a regular appointment, but if you have an urgent issue, they alway got me in the next day. The appointment and wait time is long. Yeah, take a lunch. read more

Dr is great but the office is incredibly slow. I was ready to leave after waiting an hour for my scheduled appointment and they told me that in general, the waiting time is 1 to 2 hours after your appointment time. I may be looking for another office. read more

I wish I would have read all of the negative reviews before wasting time with this group. Dr. Epstein might well be an excellent ophthalmologist however the overall process with the office team is horrible. Office wait times are excessive and the front desk and scheduling staff are rude beyond belief. I have never experienced such rudeness with support staff for medical professionals, especially the person who schedules surgeries. She literally yelled at me because my husband who has very limited vision did not thoroughly read the volumes of paperwork given him and therefore did not comply with the request for medical clearance documentation. I provided my contact information for follow-up on such issues but was not contacted directly until I again asked that calls and emails be directed to me. Instead, messages were left on my husband's cell phone, which he is unable to see. I've been calling and emailing for two weeks now with no callback from the scheduler. When I arrived at 9:00am and waited 15 minutes for the receptionist to finish checking in the other patients, I was told my appointment had been changed to next March? No one called or emailed or notified me in anyway? And was told that there wasn't anyone to see me today?.......Funny there were 10 other people being seen. read more

I made this appointment 5 months ago. I walk in and they hand me paperwork to fill out, I finish it within 10 mins and give it back. They made me WAIT 1.5 hours because I was a new patient and my eyes had to be dialated. I waited almost 2 hours and the doctor still hasn't called me. Why TF does this place make patients wait SO LONG before being seen. This is ridiculous and will never come back here again. I was seen after 2 and a half hours and I am applauded by the customer service I received. Front desk ladies can quit talking about their patients. read more

Great caring doctors, friendly environment and newest technologies is how I would describe the Chicago Cornea Consultants practice. I especially liked Dr. Parag Majmudar and Dr. Maria Rosselson. The only reason I gave the practice 4 stars and not 5 is because there is sometimes a long wait to see a doctor in their office. read more

This office is like a factory that gets in as many people as possible. My appointment was at 9:30 am, I came in early and filled out all of my paper work before 9:30. I then had to wait 35 minutes to be taken for my first eye test/scan. After that I was moved to another waiting room where I waited another 30 minutes for another eye scan. I was asked to go back in the waiting room to wait to be taken to see a doctor. Another 30 minutes back I was finally taken to the exam room to meet with the doctor. Spoiler alert! I had to wait inside this room an additional 20 something minutes. Just a total of 2 hours to see the doctor. They have no regard for other peoples time. read more

Went in for a determination if my cataracts had gotten to a point that they have to be removed....answer yes. That was on 12/23/2021. The person who scheduled surgery was not in the office yet (I had a 7:40 AM appointment. ) but that she would call and get my surgery scheduled. Well, 5 voice mails, the 6th attempt got me to a voice mailbox that was filled, an email by myself to the scheduler, and an internal email sent by someone at the office on my behalf and still, I have not been scheduled. I get holidays, etc, but we are past all of that. read more

Absolutely livid after leaving this place. Wasted 2.5 hours of my day for a consultation that could have taken 5 mins. When you get there they take you through a series of tests to see whether or not you are a candidate for lasik, okay great. But the issue is you don't get to speak to someone until after all of this (which takes two hours) that's when they tell you that insurance isn't accepted, payment is required upfront, 6k for both eyes which is way more expensive then anywhere else I've found. So here I am unable to wear lenses due to an undiagnosed eye injury and not able to get lasik because I am not part of the north shore 1%. A respectable place would at least acknowledge the fact that 'okay I understand lasik may not be financially practical for you but let's see how we can at least help with the eye issue you are having until you can afford the surgery' but no. They just want your money/business. Didn't even try to help with the injury that I was having or offer solutions. Just an 'oh you don't have money, okay bye.' Yea, go somewhere else. read more

I sought out care at Chicago Cornea consultants for a very severe case of dry eye that was causing me a great deal of eye pain. I could no longer wear soft contact lenses bc of the pain in the eyes and couldn't really see out of them anyway b/c of keraotconus. (I had crosslinking done by Dr Epstein of chicago cornea in 2017-also 5 stars). I was blind out of glasses. I worked with Dr. A for almost an entire year. First we tried punctal plugs which didn't solve the problem. Then we moved on to IPL treatments which were painful but greatly improved the dry eye. Then I elected to do a Lipi flow treatment which was a game changer. Through all of this, Dr. A was very hands on and patient with me as I jumped from the chair each time my face was zapped during IPL. Once we got the dry eye under control, Dr. A fitted me for scleral contact lenses which have given me sight I haven't had in years and are comfortable enough for me to wear all day. While it was a long process, and not all covered by insurance, it was well worth the money and time that I spent with Dr. A. I've seen a lot of doctors in my day due to an autoimmune condition and I truly believe Dr. A is one of the best! Almost two months post Lasik and I couldnt be happier! My husband and I were referred to Dr. Epstein by a friend. My husband set up a consult with both Dr. Epstein and another reputable Dr. In Chicago. He ended up going with Chicago Cornea for his procedure as he felt Dr. Epstein provided a little more personalized care and was more conservative with his approach. He ended up with the PRK procedure and was extremely pleased with his results. It prompted me to get a consult and have Lasik done. Honestly, the most painful part of the experience was having to forego wearing contacts pre- consult and procedure. I absolutely loathe wearing glasses. My LASIK was done on a Friday afternoon and by that evening I was seeing pretty clearly. My vision continued to improve and by the following week I could see without any discomfort. I'm so happy I finally decided to have it done! Everyone I encountered at Chicago cornea was professional and prompt. All of my questions were answered and I was put at ease about the actual procedure. It was not a big deal and I was in and out within an hour. If you are even considering I would go and have a consult. Don't know why I waited so long. read more

Before moving to Chicago my Doctors were recommending doing another surgery to fix the problems that were impacting my eyesight. I decided not to do anything and would deal with it in Chicago. My doctor referred me to Dr. Epstein and I was sure he was going to recommend the same surgery. He didn't and instead referred me to his associate Dr. Andrezejewski and suggested a very different plan of action. Long story short Dr. A set me on a path to fit me with Scleral Lenses and they are amazing. It's not like getting regular contacts or glasses but requires extensive measurements, fittings and patience to go through the process. My Eyesite was so poor previously and now they are perfect. The lenses are comfortable and Dr. A. was the consummate professional, even when I thought the results were good enough she kept tweaking things to perfection. I wouldn't let anyone in my family go anywhere else if they had a serious eye problem. read more

Completely inconsiderate to make people wait for over 3 hours to sit with the doctor for a 5 minute consultation. Overbooking and greed at it's finest. Chicago Cornea Consultants is one of the best practices in the area! I have been with them for over 13 years when I discovered I had keratoconus. They have been nothing but fantastic. Each of their doctors are kind, knowledgeable, and thorough in their work. Every visit I was treated with care and never felt like just another patient. I have seen 4 different doctors at CCC and have been grateful for each of them! However, I have to specifically brag about Dr. ANDRZEJEWSKI aka "Dr. A". Her care for her patients are top notch. I encountered an eye issue while out of state and she graciously connected me with an eye specialist in the state I was in and was able to secure a same day appointment. She went above and beyond to ensure I was able to get the attention and care needed! Thanks Dr. A! Look no further, you found your eye care center! read more

Plan on spending at least an hour (or more) in the waiting room to see your doctor, regardless of the time of your appoinment. The staff makes no effort to keep you informed as to how much longer you will be waiting. No complaints about the doctors and the services that they provide but even they didn't seem concerned with addressing the ridiculously long wait time. Go ahead and make an "appointment", but do so knowing that they have no intention of honoring it and don't seem to think it's "their" problem. read more

If I could give this place no stars, I would! The lack of customer service is felt from the moment you walk in until the moment you walk out. My husband had an appointment with Dr Epstein at 10am.. we waited and waited and waited and finally after waiting almost 3 hours to see him , in he walks in the room for a total of 7 minutes!!! . We were prepared with complete past medical records of previous eye exams since my husband has an eye condition that has been getting worse throughout the years. Everything he told us in the 7 minutes that we saw him we could have read from the pamphlet that was on the wall. We left here feeling like no one really cared about my husbands eye condition. It was a complete waste of time going to see him. He lacks bedside manners, compassion and regard for other people's time! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!! Do not go see him, find a different doctor that will show that he cares about you and not just about getting paid.!! read more

My overall experience at Chicago Cornea was excellent!!!! Starting when I walked through the door, the front desk greeted me very warmly! I was a little nervous about getting my eyes dilated and the technicians were very professional and friendly which helped calm my nerves. After that, I waited quite a while until I actually saw the doctor, but I was aware of this before beginning this process. I was very pleased with Dr. Epstein's manor. I went into the highland park office about a decade ago and decided to go with LASIK eye surgery with Dr. Epstein. I spent a little more $$ to get done here believing the surgeons to be better than some of their competition. I spent about $5000 to get my procedure and I have lived glasses free for the past 10 yrs. I was very happy with my decision and the actually surgery. They more or less pawned the post op follow up to my regular optometrist which I didn't appreciate but overall I would have recommended Dr Epstein's office to others. Problem came recently. My vision is no longer perfect. I called to see what options I had for the "enhancement" that other places offer. This office more or less quoted me another $5000 and wouldnt even offer me a free exam. They don't really care about the customer. Just their pockets. I gave 2 stars cause I think the surgery itself was still done well. If u are stupid rich then not a bad office. If u are a regular person I recommend you shop around. I have several friends that received lasik from other doctors. They are equally as happy with results and spent far less and got much better post op care with free or very inexpensive "enhancement/ touch up" options. read more

I have been going to Chicago Cornea, Highland Park, for over 20 years. I was referred to them by my optometrist, Dr. George Rich, who retired. I have keratoconus which is a serious eye condition that can result in total blindness if left untreated. One of the things I really like about Chicago Cornea is that they have all the resources I might need, whether it is for contacts, surgery, or eye issues, such as glaucoma. I have always felt I was receiving the best care possible. Yes sometimes I have had to wait longer than I wanted to, but knowing I would be taken care of makes it worthwhile. The doctors always spend all the time needed to adequately address my situation. Sometimes I need to see a doctor when a situation arises with my keratoconus and the people at the front desk do their very best to get me the earliest available appointment. I need to make mention in particular of Dr. Malooley, optometrist at Chicago Cornea. It doesn't take long to realize that she is extremely knowledgeable. But more importantly, she is a very caring, warm person who has my best interests at heart. read more

When I called to make an appointment, I asked what the wait tIme typically was. I was told about an hour to see the doctor. I get 15 to 20 minutes but not an hour. Clearly they have no respect for anyone's time. Why bother with appointments? I'll try and find someone else who respects their patients time. read more

Dr. Andrzejewski was excellent!!! She was extremely thorough, patient, efficient and methodical. She wanted to ensure I had the best possible vision no matter how many visits I needed while fitting me for contact lenses. She communicated everything very clearly and understood my concerns. When she wasn't confident with my choice of lenses she started the process over from scratch until we got my eye glasses prescription just right. Definitely the most skilled Optometrist I've ever met. read more

I was happy with my experience with Chicago Cornea. I was having trouble seeing up close when I was referred here by my optometrist. I saw Dr. Epstein and was diagnosed right away with a condition that needed a procedure to correct. I will admit, I was not thrilled to wait over 2 hours to see him during the first appointment. And I agree with other people that I had very little time with him that day after waiting for so long. But after that first one, my appointments were always very quick and efficient. Personally, I liked Dr. Epstein's straight-forwardness. I can see why some might feel like his bedside manner isn't the best, but I don't need a doctor who talks a lot; I need one who knows what he is doing with my eyes, and I felt like I was in very competent hands the whole way through. During the procedure, which was pretty scary, he talked to me the whole time and explained what was happening with my eye, which I really appreciated. The other doctors I saw after the procedure were very nice and just as informative as him. And the staff (specifically a girl named Carly) went out of their way to answer all of my questions about my insurance and the procedure itself. My eye is healing on schedule, and I definitely attribute a lot of that to the professionalism, skill, and care that I experienced during and after the procedure. So, I would say if it's important to you to have a really warm and friendly doctor, perhaps this isn't the doctor for you, but if you really just care that your doctor is talented and committed to improving your condition, I'd definitely recommend Dr. Epstein and staff! read more

It's been a year after my Lasik procedure done by Dr. Epstein, and I am so grateful I was able to do this. The procedure was simple and I felt very comfortable being cared for at the Highland Park location. The doctor was very thorough explaining the procedure and how to care for my eyes after that. The staff was friendly and very helpful when it came time to fill out all the paperwork. The surgical coordinator (Carly) was there waiting with me for the doctor to call me back and she was helping me stay calm since I was feeling a bit nervous. She is kind and helpful. During the procedure, Dr. Epstein was constantly checking up and asking how I was feeling and doing. After it was all over, I went home to get some rest, I later found out he took the time to call my father to check up on me and how I was doing. My post op appointments went great and my vision is also great. No more glasses, no more contacts, only great vision. If you are not sure or scared about the procedure, don't be. The doctors at Chicago Cornea are very helpful when it comes to answering any questions you might have because they know what they are doing and they care about their patient's well being. They will check to see if you are a candidate for this procedure and go from there. I live in Vernon Hills and before leaving for my appointment I checked to see if the doctor was on time. I arrived at my appointment time and was told that I was next to see the doctor. After 35 minutes I checked and was asked if the technician had seen me yet. NO I said and she went to find out why. Came back and said that it would be at least another 10 minutes to see a technician. This is not the first time that this happened. I am sorry to say that I walked out of the office. Frankly, two months ago I would have never considered LASIK. The whole idea basically freaked me out. But my eyes, after 30+ years of contact lens use, decided they didn't like wearing them anymore. My eye doctor said I needed LASIK. I laughed at him. However, after the battle to get down the inflammation in my eyes was lost, I decided to look into it. My doctor had LASIK done 25 years ago, and he told me at the time that Dr. Epstein of Chicago Cornea, while newer in the field, was an up and comer to be watched back then. My doc sends all of his patients there because he truly feels they are the best in the area. Not just because they have the latest equipment, but because they have vast experience and knowledge that is sought after by others. If someone is messing with my eyes, I want them to have experience. I ended up meeting with Dr. Majmudar after a very thorough exam at their Hoffman Estates office. I liked the fact that he was upfront with me about what to expect. I have a -10 prescription. He explained all possible outcomes, we went over my options, and I decided to schedule the LASIK. I was pleased that they schedule rather quickly - less time to get nervous! I had my procedure 10 days after my consult. I felt confident going in that I knew what to expect. The procedure was quick and pain-free. Dr. Majmudar talked to me through the entire process, so I always knew what was happening. I walked out of the room and was shocked that I could read a poster on their wall immediately after the procedure. The next day, I had a post op exam with my own doctor. My right eye was 20/20, and left was almost there (totally normal that they don't recover at the same rate). I'm still amazed that I can wake up in the morning and see! If you are nervous about LASIK, please don't take your eyes to a chain place offering $295 per eye. Trust your eyes to people who are respected in their field. read more
