My brother and I recently did an Autumn colors trip. Went to New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine…read more On our way back from Maine, we stayed the night in Manchester, VT. Following day, we stopped into this Orvis "outlet" store. Outlet in quotes bc...yeah, not sure what prices are at a regular Orvis store, but prices here...are as you'd expect them to be. Not...outlet store prices lol. Does that take away from the fact that this store is FN INCREDIBLE?!? Not even close. Inside is like a warm cabin or ski lodge. It's so beautiful inside. The layout...perfect. Has an upstairs and downstairs. They have every kind of outdoor clothing you can imagine. Only think I bought tho....a pair of amazing wooly hiking socks haha! And a bag of organic treats for my dogs. OH! There's a sign outside that says all dogs are welcome. I'm telling you, even if I'm like iffy on a store, have mixed feelings or whatever...IF they are nice to dogs and welcome them and even have treats set out for them...to sample haha! The store will almost always get 5 stars from me. When stores like this recognize dogs as our legit family...how can anyone say anything bad about them? The staff was so friendly with my little Alfred too. He's very tiny. 6ish lbs. Made us happy to see a couple of golden retrievers in there at the same time. Dogs are family through and through. Alfred is my child. I don't have human kids. My dogs are my kids. Alfred is my heart and soul. So it truly makes me beyond happy to see stores like this basically encourage you to bring your dogs in. He loves the organic treats too. I probably should have gotten a few bags, but just in case he decided he didn't like them...yorkies can be super picky and weird with their food and treats lol...that's why I just got the one. The prices. Ok so they may be a little steep on most things. However, they have tons of stuff on sale. Good sale prices too for people looking for a deal. Oh! They have a section for dogs too. Clothes, beds, leash's, harnesses, etc. I'm so glad we stopped in here. I love stores like this back east. It has such that "east coast" feeling to it too. Manchester had a lot of skiing in the area. This is a great place to find some gear for that. You seriously can't go wrong here. Even if it's targeted to us tourists lol, I just know a lot of locals go here. Employees are SO friendly too! So welcoming. It's so weird to go to stores these days where employees are so nice bc as we all know...shopping in like 90% of retail stores these days hire ... *this* generation and most of them don't even make eye contact or say hello. So going to stores where they legit welcome you in from the second you walk in...very refreshing. Then checking out, the guy and I had a little conversation about paying our credit card bill haha! Basically, it's cool to have employees at stores that aren't dead in the eyes lol or absolutely robotic. Whoever does the hiring here knows exactly what they are doing. I don't think I ran into any miserable retail employees while in Manchester. Such a delightful little city. If you're in the area, ABSOLUTELY go here. If for anything, just to look around. Such a beautiful beautiful store with some of the friendliest and most helpful employees. Thanks for reading, YelpOrviseeees! Cheers!

We love the Orvis outlet, just a short drive from the flagship store. It showcases discounted Orvis…read moreclothing of all types along with an assortment of other products like fishing gear, jewelry, Vermont maple syrups, things for dogs, etc. We especially enjoy the off-season sales. Last month, for instance we found some really great deals on sweaters ($189 wool sweaters discounted to $74) and shirts. It's not a particularly large store (two levels), but it has a good assortment of clothing for men and women, and bear in mind that because it is an outlet not all sizes in everything will be available. The staff is very courteous and know the stock well. Looking back we have to say that we have never left a visit here without at least a couple of purchases. If you're in the area, do check out the flagship store, but don't forget to come by here as well. We are fans.

Located in Manchester VT a very homey little candy shop…read more You walk into this place in Manchester and just kinda think...why does this store fit perfectly for where I am at at this moment? It's truly a pleasant little store. The lady seemed a little weirded out when my brother and I first walked in. We were in Manchester for the night, on our way back to NY from a week in Maine. She looked at us like....hmm I dunno, don't wanna say anything mean bc she wasn't mean lol, she just looked at us ... weirdly lol. Not sure how else to put it. As our visit went on she ended up being very nice. I just hope she didn't think we were in there to like...steal a couple pieces of candy hahaha. I mean, we aren't 10 years old anymore lol. She then went on to tell us about the store and how all the candy is made there (pretty sure that's what she said). I just remember thinking....how wonderful that this stuff isn't imported from places like...ugh China! They have everything! Every possible kind of candy you can imagine...she has it. She gave us a free sample and it was amazing! There are few great candy shoppes in Manchester. This one is definitely one of them. Prices are a little...high. Just a heads up if you go here. Couple things to consider as to why tho... 1) it's Manchester VT. It's a very bougie little town. Only makes sense most things are pricey there 2) privately owned 3) candy is made on site 4) it's Manchester Vermont lol Should this stop you from going? Absolutely not. Even if you're just in to look...it's worth it. Really a cute store. I hope to return to it one day. Living in Idaho, I rarely make it to Vermont lol. BUT IF I DO! I will for sure head back into Mother Myricks! Thanks for reading, YelperMyrickers! Cheers!

I also bought a peach-raspberry muffin and a blueberry muffin. The muffins looked great but were without ANY flavor. Downright awful, not sure what that was about, but the chocolates were very good. I don't think they were quite as good as Lake Champlain chocolates, but they were a close second. I always appreciate the freshness factor (in addition to flavor), so it mattered that the orange peel and apricots were very fresh. If we are ever in the area, I'd come back here for sure, but I'd stick with the chocolates only. No more baked goods !

One of my favorite childhood memories was The Jelly Mill, and I'm saddened to see that it closed…read moredown many years ago. I looked it up to see how far of a drive it would be from where we are currently visiting, and saw the sad news . My parents would bring me and my siblings there in the 80's and it was magic. My siblings and parents were everything to me and here we were, walking into 8 year old me's version of Disneyland. I was so young but can still remember it vividly, from the glass and bells on the front doors, to the wood decor. We would get ice cream cones called The Big Olaf, in freshly made waffle comes with a little marshmallow on the bottom of the cone. There were scratch and sniff stickers, puffy stickers, jelly bracelets and vintage candies. There were candy sticks that tasted like root beer, and there were postcards, and little maple syrup candies. The wind chimes were so amazing to me. I do not know of a place that ever made me feel happier and I am grateful to have grown up in a time that had these memories to make. I am not a great communicator but this review comes so easily for me to write. My parents gave me $5 and I left with a paper bag full of the greatest treasures! I hope every child has one memory to cherish like mine. If anyone ever sees this review, thanks for reading!

Ok! So who doesn't love a little toy shop/candy shop in a historic downtown area?!…read more There's just something above and beyond special about a store like this vs going to one of those god awful box stores or taking business to...Amazon! My brother and I were recently in Manchester, VT and while walking around downtown, we stopped in here. Just the outside of the building makes you wanna go in. Then you get in there and it's legit like you're a kid again. The layout is amazing. Upstairs and downstairs to this place. Downstairs is the candy and probably the nicest lady EVERRR to work in a retail store. Really wish I had gotten her name. I swear if more stores had people like her, I think more people would go back to stores vs shopping online. She's above and beyond pleasant, friendly, funny, so accommodating, just an absolute delight of a person. This place kinda feel like something you'd see in a movie. Maybe a movie from "yesteryear" (I hate that word lol, but it kinda applies here haha) It's just so homey! She made it even homier AND she let me bring in my little yorkie, my little Alfred and she was so nice to him as well. Seriously, what happened to retail? We all know this generation and their...LOVE of working with the public haha! Like I said, if more stores had friendly people like this woman, (I'm gonna assume that maybe she owns the store?) we'd all be in stores more. Ok, so the store haha! Candy downstairs, tons of stuff upstairs. Toys, hoodies, shirts, etc. The shirts and stuff are touristy items. Manchester and Vermont on the fronts. Some super nice. Priced a little higher than some places, but seriously not bad at all. Besides, if I had gotten something like that, I'd 100% buy from a store like hers vs a bigger store. Also, who buys touristy type clothes from like...Walmart or Target?! Ugh! It just isn't the same vs getting it at a TRUE store to whatever town or city you're visiting. Downstairs she had a plate of cookies out for the customers. Of course, I grabbed a few haha. Alfie (my dog) and I were very thankful haha! She also said "make sure to grab some cookies on the counter back there!" I was like "one step ahead of you, girl! Already grabbed some" hahaha! No matter how much I watch my diet, if there are cookies....ima have some lol. The inside is like a really homey house. Even the outside looks that way...so maybe it was a home at one time? Fantastic store! Truly is! Kids and us *big* kids all love this place. How can you not? On our way out, (she might remember this lol) she said "think fast" and tossed a free piece of gum to me...I had my dog in my arms so I'm using him as an excuse as to why I didn't catch it hahaha! She then tossed one to my brother and he missed too hahahaha! To be fair, there were like 6 people all eyes on us. The pressure was real lol. Embarrassing we couldn't catch a piece of gum...BUT for me, one handed! Hahaha! One customer said "I would have dropped it too with all those eyes on me" So there's another excuse for us GUYS not catching a little piece of gum haha! I look forward to the day I go back to Vermont. I've gone the past 2 years. So hopefully we will make it there again next year. If we do! Manchester for sure and without a doubt....another visit to this amazing little store with so much character...from the employees to the store itself. I hands down recommend anyone and everyone go here and support her anyway you can. These stores need to be cherished. Thanks for reading, YelperCottagers! Cheers!
