Very poor office experience. While Dr. Eisenberg and his assistants are great, this review is for the front desk. The front office staff is extremely rude. So far as things happen to the schedule they are OK - they are not necessarily polite - but one can live with that For the scheduling, I was trying to be nice and she was super rude because I had missed my earlier appointment practically telling me in stern manner that she would not give further appointments. I told her that it appear unfair since I have been taking their service for several years. She continued to be rough and I had to tell her that she was being rude. Eisenberg General Dentistry administered by Drs. Matthew, Lawrence and Adam Eisenberg is probably the worst dental office in Freehold region. They are extremely rude to patients and to their own staff, they do not provide sufficient information about the dental procedures that would be necessary to patient. They do not really care about the patient's wellbeing. If you have an urgent situation like a broken tooth, fallen filling, or crown you cannot receive priority care from this office. If you question these issues with them to understand what the correct procedure for a specific dental treatment is, they just say "we no longer accept your insurance" which is not true. Been coming here since I was a kid but most recent experience verges on unforgivable practice. Month ago I came in with something feeling off in a root canal I had done here a couple of years ago. He took an x-ray and said everything looked fine so I left thinking it wasn't anything. Fast forward 4 weeks and I start feeling discomfort. I call and they said I can book you an appointment for 3 weeks out. I was disappointed because I had been a patient since I was a child so I thought they would try and see me for discomfort a little earlier than that but whatever. Fast forward one week later, the discomfort has progressed into throbbing pain. I call a day when he's at a different office and he just randomly sends a script for penicillin to my pharmacy. Okay. Can't sleep that night because of how horrible the pain is. I call the next morning the minute they open and they said they can fit me in at 3. Great. I go in and I'm baffled. He takes a look at the tooth with his eyes for 10 seconds and essentially says I don't know what could be causing it. He doesn't take an x-ray. I ask "shouldn't I get an x-ray?" He says no you just had one last month (which sounded odd because it seems like a lot could happen in a month). I say is there anything you can do, I'm in immense pain that Advil/Tylenol can't even begin to touch. He says finish the penicillin and call back 5 days later if still in pain. FIVE. DAYS. no empathy for how much pain I was actually in. I walk out. Next day gets even worse. I end up out of desperation to feel relief call and emergency dentist and get an appointment. The emergency dentist takes an x-ray revealing a MASSIVE infection. Root canal was done badly and no way to save the tooth. At that point the idea of them yanking the tooth sounded like heavenly relief because of how much pain I was in. Not going back to Eisenberg again after how dismissive and unempathetic he was this last time. To not try and take an x-ray when explaining excruciating pain is unforgivable. Hope he reflects on his decisions and doesn't do this to his remaining patients in the future. read more

This guy is nothing more than a money grab. The previous reviews are all true. He is not helpful and overpriced. You tell him what issue your dealing with and he will send you off to a specialist to get it "fixed" just so he doesn't have to do it but he will charge you the office visit and the referral fee. Efficient service with competitive prices at this dentist office taking major healthcare insurances, free parking at the back of the dental office, do not try to upsell you unnecessary services, no free internet on-site, a wide selection of magazines in the waiting room, etc. You are also requested neither to bring food and beverages nor to use your cellular phones in the clean waiting room. One point of improvement would be to have a more organized registration of new customers. I was requested by two different associates my dental insurance twice within weeks. The receptionist Connie and another female associate had lost the contact details of my dental insurance in their system. Moreover, the service of receptionists is rushed and impersonal on the phone. Nevertheless, the customer interaction is fine in person. The hygienist Jane was also twenty-five five minutes late for my first dental cleaning appointment. Jane insisted to have bite wings X-ray taken as a preliminary obligatory condition to do my dental cleaning. Jane stated it was because my set of the full dental X-ray at the prior dentist were over a year old. The set of the full dental X-ray at the prior dentist is in the process of being transferred. read more

In the first five minutes of my first visit the aloof dentist was discussing my next visit where he planned a root canal for me... I was shocked. My first visit. No welcome to our office, nice to meet you, my name is Dr. So and So.. Just "You need a root canal". I had no symptoms, no pain, I was wondering who he was talking to... Needless to say, I got our of there and never went back. I wouldn't want this guy to work on my dog's teeth... Steer clear. read more

I never understood why so many people are afraid of the dentist until I came to this office. I went in for a basic filling, and several weeks later, it fell out. I was convinced Eisenberg drilled off way more than he needed to, but they assured me it was fine, and proceeded to drill some more to fix it. Fast forward to six months, and the filling fell out AGAIN. I ended up switching dental plans to avoid ever having to go to this office again. read more

I needed an emergency appointment due to tooth pain, they told me to come in and when i did had nothing ready to work on my tooth. I asked if you weren't planning on working on my tooth what was the point to bring me in. Their response "you said it was an emergency" yes true emergency that needed to be worked on.. not leave my job mid day drive 40 minutes and sit in the chair for 10 minutes to say thanks for coming have a good day. When i calmly asked this in person why did i come in if i wasn't going to be worked on Dr. Eisenberg couldn't handle an adult conversation or give me a reason, instead he said we will not be handling your dentistry needs any longer have fun finding someone else, please leave. I have been a patient Dr. Eisenberg for over a year and am totally pleased. He fit me in for an emergency procedure on no notice and took care of the problem in one visit. He also recently replaced a crown in two visits. The temporary crown held up well and I got the permanent one the following week. Overall, painless, high quality work. Takes Delta Dental and Met Life and now accepts credit cards. Prices very reasonable. read more

This office is TERRIBLE!!! The WORST experience I've ever had with a dentist office in the past ten years!! If I could give a negative point, I will definitely do that. This office is terrible in managing appointments and in greeting their patients. They cancel appointments at short notice and is unwilling to work with patients to meet their needs. I made the appointments several weeks ago, and have asked for work day off and my kid's school day off for it, and then was told a day before that our appointment is cancelled and they can't help no matter how I explained we need to see the dentist before our travel a week later. The woman on phone is terrible. She did not listen. She did not allow me to complete my question and request. She was not sorry at all for all the inconvenience the cancellation has brought to the patients. BTW, my daughter and I just transferred to this dentist months ago, and this is our first time to visit. We have been waiting for a month+ for this visit. How can you cancel patients' appointments at a short notice, with no apology, but only arrogance? I began using Dr. Eisenberg as my dentist over 25 years ago after my dentist at the time tried unsuccessfully 3 times to place a crown on one of my molars. Dr. Eisenberg completed the work perfectly the first time. Even though I now live almost 25 miles from his office, I would never switch to another dentist. The worst practice I have ever been to. The staff is rude and the average wait time for them to see a patient is at least 30 minutes. I made an appointment 3 months ago and then the day of my appointment they told me to wait more. When I asked them " what's the point of taking an Apointment ", she says, " I have never been to a doctor where you don't have to wait". I saw couple families leave because of the wait. Worst dental I ever have. Appointment at 10:15am, wait more tan 1hour, at 11:20am I had my cleaning started. The nurse help me do annual preventive check and cleaning. The so-called preventive check is just about x-ray, no further examination. My previous dental doctor used to do much more, like measure gum pockets... The whole half hour service is done by nurse, preventive check, and cleaning. Then dr. Eisenberg came over, spent two minutes to check my x-ray picture, and I was done, and sent out. My previous doctor always do everything himself, nurse is just helping. I am going to change my primary doctor, dr. Eisenberg is way too disappointed me. My 6 year old son and I went to Dr. Eisenberg's office for our regular check-ups on November 5th. It was an all-around great experience! I felt very comfortable and well-cared for. They saw my son and I promptly back-to-back. When I was in the chair, the hygienist made sure my son was set up with an activity in a nice chair in the room with me. So I was able to relax while having my teeth cleaned. The hygienist had a gentle touch and I almost fell asleep during the cleaning. That was a 1st! You will normally wait past your appointment time to be see, and they can be a bit slow. However, you can get an appointment quickly. They don't try to push out of pocket extras like whitening, etc. They also don't make cracks/jokes about your teeth, which is a problem I have had with SO MANY dentists. I know my teeth are crooked, I don't need a lecture or an sales pitch, and Dr Eisenberg is great about leaving well enough alone. read more

RUN. Eisenberg should be sued. How do he and his partners sleep at night? Nine years ago they told me I needed a root canal (I had no symptoms or pain). I paid $1000 out of pocket for a procedure I probably didn't need. Recently, the tooth became reinfected. Both my current dentist and the endodontist I saw were shocked and appalled upon seeing the X-ray. They both said that the treatment I received from Eisenberg was substandard to the point of malpractice. Basically he did a shoddy rush job and never even really bothered to fill the canals. My dentist was amazed I had even lasted that long before becoming infected and said I must have a strong immune system. My tooth was so far gone at this point due to this unethical, substandard work that I nearly lost it. I will be reporting them to my HR in Princeton as well. read more

I have been going to Dr Larry for over 15 years. After moving to South NJ, I still travel over 1 hr for him to do all of my dental work. I have had several cavities, caps, replacement caps and one or two root canals over that time frame. His work is EXCELLENT, cost is fair (for both sides) and his staff is professional/very good and timely. read more

I've been to Eisenberg for a few procedures each time I leave disappointed. I have a "Frankentooth" cap he put in that feels too big for my mouth. Dr. Larry Eisenberg has been my Dentist for over 5 years. I consistently receive excellent service with x-rays and cleanings, but what prompted me to write this is the advice and prescription of a night guard to help with my TMJ and occasional experiences of lock jaw. I was contemplating surgery due to the pain and discomfort. I hated the thought but was desperate for relief. I discussed the surgery with Dr. Eisenberg when he told me plain and simple not to do it. He recommended a night guard which he would create the mold of my mouth in his office and then instructed me to use it every night. He advised me to try that method first and he was confident it would eliminate my jaw problems. Fast forward 3 months of using it every night and I am 100% better! I can honestly say the night guard cured me of my lock jaw and the pain and discomfort I would experience when chewing certain foods. I can't thank him enough so I posted this and hopefully will help others who are experiencing similar problems. Thanks! read more

The clerks and dentist are the most obnoxious people I have met so far. I went there at 3:55 pm on 12/12 for 4 pm routine cleaning and a fe minutes later a woman came with a girl. Then a guy came a few minutes later. At 4:15, they called the girl in and around 4:25, they called the guy in. I asked the woman what time is their appointment to see how far behind the office is and the woman told me 4:00 and the woman asked me what time is mine and I told her 4 as well, which she said that it does not make sense. I then went to the desk and asked the clerk why the girl and the guy went before me and the clerk told me that the guy needed Xray vs. I didn't so he went just for X-ray, which is not true because the guy did not come out afterwards. Finally at 4:40 they called me. I asked the clerk to explain why I was there before the other two but was called later and I was not too happy to wait for 40 minutes. The clerk then told me that since I was not happy, then I could leave then. I told her that I already took time off so I wanted to get the cleaning done but will drop the service next year. A couple minutes later, Dr. Eisenberg came and told me that since I was going to drop the service with them next year, he wanted to stop the service right away so he would not do the cleaning and told me to leave right away so I did. Not only they did not apologize for the delay and the unfair treat, they refused to do their work and I ended up wasting my time there. I have switched to another dentist and would strongly recommend people not to go there. read more

I have to agree with the other reviewer, the Dr only spends a very quick 2 minutes examining you, you do spend a lot of time waiting and the receptionist is quite unfriendly. The hygienistis are good, the dentisits not so much. read more
