Had 9pm reservations received drinks and appetizers (beef and chicken suya....wasnt even authentic suya seasoning...they didn't even try) being Nigerian trying to get good Nigerian food l that resembles home was very disappointing . placed entree order at the same time of appetizers advised that jollof rice would Be ready in 30 mins after 2hrs still didn't receive food. Server Kayla was nice and said she was checking on it but still order was not ready! Started reservations at 9pm and 2.5hr still haven't received main entree food. The drinks were strong only reason giving a 2 stars. Once we received food 3hr later the food was good. My friend ordered the goat egusi with fufu and I order jollof with oxtail and moi(which had no egg, corn beef, or fish). They need fix up their service and food time and they would get 4-5 stars. read more

Soon I stepped into the venue it felt like the house of culture. The ambiance, food, drinks, vybz and people. It's amazing a place like this exist in Brooklyn, it felt like I was in the city / the Caribbean. I will def come back, I give this restaurant a 10/10 read more

Do not support this business! They do noy pay their employees! EKO restaurant owners are taking advantage of people who are trying to earn a decent living, doing what they are passionate about. Employees are investing 10+ hours per shift with no compensation and no communication. Every week employees are expecting to get paid, then they're told, to wait another week. This has been going on for 4 weeks!! This cannot be legal. This is not a restaurant, it's a sweat shop! Pay your employees what you owe them! It's just the right thing to do. read more

the food was ok, but the service was very very poor, the server a short light skin thick thigh young lady ( just to be specific) she kept on ignoring us even when we try to raise our hand to get her attention, she kept on laughing and talking acted as if we weren't there, mind you the restaurant was empty with only two other guest, it was as if we were begging for attention smh, I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone and I meant that from the bottom of my heart!!!! if the tip wasn't included I wouldn't tip her at all, I wish I could have remove the tip. This was probably the worst dining experience I ever had. Our waitress has no idea what customer service is. After being seated, it took 25 minutes we had to talk to the manager because no one came to wait in our table. Not even for water. When we finally got a waitress, she had such a nasty attitude and only addressed one person at the table for the entire night. She didn't introduce herself didn't say sorry just took our orders. Seeing how the service was, we ordered everything all at once, food, drinks and apps. Even with that tactic we still waited at least 45 mins to get our food. I was able to sit through 2 quarters of the knicks game and piece of a baseball game. People who came an hour after us received their food and drinks before us. Our server, even said oops I forgot about you. The food was dry, and that might be because our server left our food out for so long. When the manager came to give us the bill she asked who was your server we couldn't answer because we were never told her name. The manager told us it was McKaylee. When it was time to pay, that was the fastest McKaylee came to our table. What makes this even worse is that 20% tip is automatically taken out. She didn't deserve a dime. read more

I came to this restaurant for my brother's birthday. We had reservations for 9:00 PM which were changed as we had an 8:00 PM reservation. We were seated at 11:00 PM after the manager said she was "overwhelmed". There was a party before us that refused to leave after they paid. When we got seated, we had no plates, glasses or utensils. It appears that they were not prepared for all the traffic they received. Only 3 people in my party out of 14 ordered appetizers and it took an hour for appetizers, 45 minuted for drinks and I am still here and I still haven't received my entree. I ordered Jerk Chicken and Jollof and was told they ran out of jollof so I had the option of white rice. My friend ordered salad and that came after an EKo pasta order. The salad was the size of a side salad. My sister in law waited 15 minutes to get utensils AFTER she received her food. The wait staff was overwhelmed and only brought one dish out at a time. After waiting an hour for my food, my chicken felt like it just came out of the fridge but the substituted white rice was warm. I also was supposed to be comped sweet plantain which never arrived. I still had to wait another 20 minutes for my husband to receive the same exact meal I did. (Please keep in mind that these are accurate times as my party kept time). Someone in my party ordered a chicken salad and received no chicken. My brother was supposed to have a nice 35th birthday and it turned into a disaster because of the disorganization of this establishment. I will NEVER come back and would not recommend this restaurant as their flavor also needs work. Everyone who received their food was COLD. This was the worst experience at a restaurant that I had. The Eko Punch which is their variation of rum punch was not great and the pitcher which was $60 but not a pitcher but a carafe! We had 1 small pitcher of water to share for 11 people that was never refilled. Let's not forget to mention that the DJ was horrible! There was no cohesion to his mix and it just sounded like he put shuffle on his Iphone and added a few sounds. When the cake came out, it took quite some time to get it wrapped up. My be other and sister-in-law were offered a free meal the next time, I an not sure about them but me and mine will NOT be coming back. I am usually one for second chances but definitely not here. Very beautiful establishment. Has a very contemporary/ modern vibe. Here it's where they messed up: I was apart of a party of roughly 16 and the fact is that the staff could not handle a party of that size. Every time we ordered something whether if it was drinks or entree, the waiter had to ask who ordered what. It took a minimum of an hour to receive each item. It was as if they had one pot in the kitchen cooking the entire restaurant's food. Drinks were great when we did eventually receive them, appetizers were subpar at best/ not warm when they arrived at the table, and after waiting over 3 hours, I left without getting my entree. Between the entrees going to people in the party who ordered after me, the waiter who was assisting the manager serve visibly laughing as if it was comical that I did not receive my food, and the wait itself, I simply could not further indulge in the foolishness that was taking place. I also have a medical condition which did not help when you're consuming alcoholic beverages with very little food in your system. This establishment could be great but with the horrendous service I received, they will never see me as a patron again. read more

I was sooo excited to try this restaurant on Valentines day with my fiance. We live n East New York not far away and wanted to specifically support a black owned restaurant in OUR community rather than going into Manhattan or Williamsburg, or other parts of Brooklyn. We had reservations for 8:30 PM and arrived around 8:27 ish. It was already packed and we did have to wait a bit for our table which I didnt mind. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and there was a live Dj there playing all the 80's and 90s R&B. After we were seated around 8:35 ish the waitress who was also the manager. Took about 20-25 mins before she came back to take our drink orders. She let us know there was pre fix menu and we were fine with that. Our drinks then took another 25 minutes to arrive. Because they were a new establishment and it was a busy night we decided to give them grace. We also ordered appetizers which came out about 35 mins-40 mins after we sat down. At this point a saxophonist is playing and we are irritated and over it. three other coupes are complaining about not even receiving a glass of water and its clear the waitress/manager is avoiding that section of the restaurant. One couple actually walked out during this time. At this point its going on 10:00 P.M and I have asked the waitress/manager about three times where our food is. She assures its on its way out. By 10:15 going on 10:30 really, my fiance and I are hungry nd annoyed and ask her to comp our bill and we will be leaving we can just pay for the drinks, she again says "no its coming out right now" I then said "ok well wrap it up to go but take something off the bill we have been here for basically two hours. She says ok and leaves, she returns with our food in to go plates ( the food is cold) and proceeds to give me a full bill. I refused and told her she needs to take something off the service was absolutely terrible she then says " the manager said no" so I said " well bring him or her out here" she pauses then says "Ok I can take 20 percent off" (she's clearly the manager). I refused. A two hour wait and cold food !!!!! finally after some push back from my fiance she says ok Ill take off the drinks and do 40 percent off the food I angrily handed her our credit card. Not to mention we watched as couples who were seated AFTER us and ordered the same meals we did were served before us NEVER EVER EVER Again! The only good part of my meal was the coconut baileys cake. The stuffed salmon was not stuffed at all and cold. I really really wanted to like this place but they need to step up their service big time. read more

Ambiance is nice . The service on the other hand is terrible. After being seated from the host. The bartender was the first person to approach my table. The bartender didn't know how to make old fashion. Basically the only cocktails that she knew how to make was the cocktails on the menu. Then the waitress showed up to take our order. At 11:30 pm we placed an order appetizers was simple . Then after an hour we were told that the kitchen was out of oxtail and jollof rice . Then with just 2 people ordering appetizers and 1 round of drinks. You imply a $12.00 gratuity. The shrimp appetizer needs help I would prefer to pay a higher price in order to get bigger shrimp. The cod fish appetizer was good . But overall service was terrible I would never recommend this restaurant. In between the 45 minutes they not once came to see about a refill or how the appetizers were. The waitress stands by the Dj and on her phone way too much . Also someone needed to check the bathroom every 60-90 minutes to ensure quality. Completely unattended when there is too much staff on premises to miss this. read more

Even with the bad reviews I saw I still decided to give this restaurant a try. I wish I didn't. I was up front and honest about the reviews I saw with the manager and she guaranteed and promised that I would have a great birthday celebration. There was suppose to be a DJ on site, there wasn't one. They used some playlist (same songs repeated several times). I had a birthday celebration for a party of 30 (it ended up being 22ppl). There was also another big party being celebrated. There were only TWO servers for BOTH big parties. How? I booked my reservation since Nov 6 (bday celebration was Dec 2). That gives plenty of time to plan ahead. The day before the manager is calling me telling me that I didn't send my deposit when it fact I did on Nov 6. Not everyone received a meal even though they took everyone's order. Things that were on the brunch menu wasn't being served. The food that did come out was below mediocre. I the birthday girl order the ackee sampler plate. It lacked seasoning. Everyone complained from the beginning to the end. I felt bad. Eko restaurant lacks service. I ended up at a diner to end my birthday. This place gives me the vibes that it's only opened to wash money. I DO not recommend this establishment. read more

hmm where do I start with this restaurant I went here about 2 weeks ago and had a 9pm appointment we waited about almost 30min to be seated because they was so busy I guess. So we was finally seated the waitress came over about 10min to take our drink and app order. She then took 30min just to bring the drinks out. all we did was order a lemonade and it still took forever. So I really been craving suya and was highly disappointed that at 10pm a restaurant with This hype didn't have anymore suya. so I said cool just went with the shrimp Rasta pasta and my girl got the oxtail. Mind you we order wings as our appetizer that never came out. we waited another 30min for the food. my food came out cold and so did my girls food. The appetizers never came out. We ended up canceling them. we Wanted refills on the lemonade and the waitress had the nerve to tell us that there was no more we got the last of it. Mind you it's only 1030 at night they close at 2am. My girls ends up sending the food back because it was too cold to eat. She took the plate back and put the food in the microwave plate came out scorching hot. that's how we knew it was microwaved. My girl still tried to eat it but then she realized a hair in the food. of course that's when we was done. read more
