I bought some dishes from this spot a while ago. It's a neighborhood and Caribbean food spot. I bought chicken for family and shrimps for myself. It was okay. Well seasoned and no complaints. It's been a while, maybe I should pay them a visit on a day I don't make my delicious homemade dishes. Service was okay back then, so hopefully it's better. I have been eating here for some time now, and I must say everytime it gets better. For the first time today I had their curry stone crab...well let's just say I went back and bought MORE and escovitch whiting!!!! The macaroni pie was amazing, stew peas with smoked turkey and chicken foot is good good!!!! Everything I've tasted did not disappoint. The rasta pasta was great when I had it. The plantain were old but the jerk chicken was good too.

This place is so cringe. The staff is horrible and aggressive. They advertise fresh juices and smoothies but they NEVER want to make it when I've tried to order it. It seems like everyone here hates the job. It's not a good place to eat either. The food is just average. The food is great! The employees are always pleasant , and helpful if asked questions about pricing. This restaurant has a wide selection of food , which is served buffet style. The food is always fresh, and the serving stations are always clean. Be aware that the food is weighed at the register, and there aren't set prices for certain container and you can easily spend a substantial amount of money. My personal favorite is the home made oatmeal, with fried dumplings because it absolutely amazing. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great/ fresh food. read more

I really like this place because you can walk in put your own meal together depending on your own hunger level and leave within 5 minutes or less unless you need a natural fruit juice that requires some shill to make it just right. They do a good job of keeping the food heated and bringing in fresh food when a certain selection is finished. The service is reportedly the juice man and lady behind the counter were helpful with the questions I had and they also gave good recommendations. I will be returning I heard the breakfast is off the chain's My only issue and reason I didn't give 5 starts is because my rice was a tad bit dry as if it has heat on it for too long but it was still good. read more

I was upset that Mum's Kitchen in this location closed and was skeptical of a Caribbean Buffet? They surprised me, the place is always clean, the food is good and reasonable. They have so many varieties, Fish, Oxtails, Jerk Chicken, the Jerk Pork is to die for..., you can have any combination you choose. Ok, let me start by saying I already feel bad about writing a 4-star review here, simply because every time i go here, it's for the same two things....Mac n' Cheese & Oxtail. My fam is from the South, and those of you from the south, know 9 of 10 times, if u want some good Mac n' Cheese, you're going to get it from a southern spot before you will an island spot, because a lot of island spots (no offense) can't make no Mac n' Cheese like a southern spot. HOWEVER, this Jamaican ran buffet style eatery has me HOOKED to their Mac n' Cheese! It's worth going for that alone! lol. I also get the Oxtail, which is also delicious. I'm hooked on those two things, and that's all I've ever gotten from there in my handful of visits. The place is clean, with pleasant folks behind the counter, and for all you germaphobes, there are two dispensers of hand cleaners as you enter the place. My only draw back, is it can be pricey. You pay depending what it weighs, and that hearty Mac n' Cheese alone can make the register ring, along with the bones in my Oxtail cuts. I'm also not liking that there are not any ribs the times I've gone.lol. It's hard to imagine the rest of the dishes not being just as tasty. I am completing my tour of Jerk places in Brooklyn (near my current job at Brookdale Hospital) and found Fix U Plate only a half mile away from the hospital. After finding street parking, I walked in and found a clean, well lit, restaurant, dominated by a very long self serve steam table. It easily held 30 dishes and I greedily filled up containers with rice n peas, vegetable rice, cabbage, jerk pork and jerk chicken. The young lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful and walked over to help me With my difficult decisions. She also recommended some festival (fried bread), to dampen the heat of the jerk. She also included extra jerk sauce. The jerk pork and chicken were delicious, not too hot and didn't even need the extra sauce. The rice n peas and cabbage were on point, as were the festival. I will definitely be back to check out the other dishes. read more

I stopped in here to get some food for the night and was in food heaven. There were a few tables to sit and eat but its pretty much take out. I love buffet style spots and know how to pile on my plate without breaking my pockets. There were sooo many meat selections I didnt know what to get so I go a little bit of everything. The mac n cheese went quick and I was able to scoop a bit of that up. I didnt get too many vegetables because I had plenty at home. I had three different meals with the food from that one plate. Sooo I have passed this place a ton of times and never bothered to stop by.That was stupid because they are just what I'm looking for.I love Buffets but am a bit turned off by the open food,people breathing over it,unfresh selections..I can go on.I do not eat chicken,beef or pork but love the gravy on my rice so with the different meat selections and various choices of rices I go crazy in here.They keep the place super clean and dont even allow you to talk on your cell phone while your over the food.Yes it was annoying and like three people who worked their was up in my face about it in about 1 minute but I kinda understood.One star gone for the aggressiveness (calm down,I like to tell me friend goodbye instead of just hanging up people)!They have cake selections,fish and chicken soup sold separately for I think starting at 2 bucks.There even is a juice bar in the front..yup!!! read more

A friend and I wanted to stay in one Sunday morning and order delivery, so we decided to order from Fix-U-Plate. It's a restaurant that focuses on West Indian cooking, something that I wanted to try since I had arrived in New York City. So, we pulled up an app (which one, I'm not sure) and placed our order. The food ended up taking three hours to come. We ended up being called three times, maybe thirty minutes in between, to be informed that the side dishes that we had ordered were unavailable. I had two people inform of the same thing, which was weird, since I had already given the first person my order change. Sounds like it was one of those restaurants that only serves what is available that day, and it had a terrible sense of logistics. We ordered our food around noon and eventually got it around 3 PM. I got the jerk chicken with rice and pigeon peas and Mac and cheese. My friend ordered something similar, alongside a carrot cake. Well I heard my hair dresser who is a few blocks away speaking of this place. When I heard buffet I was very intrigued because I love variety. When my husband and I went there I almost went nuts, there was soooo much to choose from and EVERYTHING was great!!!! Two days later I was back - feeling guilty, I told the cashier not to think that I don't cook, but the food is so good with extremely reasonable pricing compared to nearby restaurant that I had to return for seconds. I placed an order with this restaurant. After 1 hour and 20 minutes of waiting, I called the restaurant. The woman there seemed confused, but said she would find out what was going on and call me back. When she called she asked me for more information and said she'd call back again, but she did not. I called the restaurant again and she still could not explain what was going on, but said she would find out and call back. Now, it had been over 1 hour and 45 minutes and not only did they not call back, they did not answer the phone, but when I went to my Seamless account, I noticed they just then cancelled the order with no explanation. I waited for nearly two hours for our food and got nothing. I called Seamless who said they would start an investigation. I have no idea if their food is good or not, but their service and inability to explain the problem before cancelling the order is the worst I've ever seen.
