My favorite is the Ceviche de pescado. Sometimes they put too much onions (so the fish seems like there's less) but I enjoy the Ceviche. I've yet to find a decent place and price in Downey for Ceviche (that doesn't cost an arm & a let). Here they are pretty fast, friendly and clean. This location used to be a Thai restaurant and now it's a 7 mares. I know there's an express across the street. So, I'm not sure which one I checked into. Anyways, the waitress was very nice and refilled our Jamaica drinks. She refilled our chips and salsa. The chips tasted freshly made that was a plus. We got the molcajete for 2. It was delicious. I like the fact that roasted nopales were included in the dish. I also had a med. Shrimp cocktail. It was savory. Filled to the brim with fresh shrimp and avocados. I subtracted 1 star because they don't serve margaritas. Only beer & wine. I think it was a licensing thing. Anyways, I will definitely be returning. : ) btw I like the decor. My place to eat seafood . Since I'm a seafood lover I recomend this place . My fav here are the tostadas de ceviche and the cocktail de camarones. The campechana is the bomb too . I am here at the sit down restaurant... service IS HORRIBLE the waitress is just hanging out at the register. Only 3 other tables with people and 1 group is already done eating. Our plates didn't come out at the same so my plate was cold by the time they all arrived. No one is asking if we need drinks or anything else. Once we got our order in for another drink the waitress left the old cups so our table was over stuffed. Waitress has an attitude. NEVER coming again. Stay away!!! read more

It's pretty bad here. I had high hopes for this place based on experience from the one in Echo Park and East LA but this one really let me down. I ordered the Tempiquena plate and shrimp stew. The Tempiquena plate was cold and the beans tasted old and reheated. Shrimp stew was underwhelming and not worth the money I paid for both. It's 3:30am Tuesday November 17th. I've been up since past 12am dealing with food poising. Yesterday afternoon I had the special shrimp tacos and there was nothing out of the ordinary except a shrimp tail in one of my tacos. I would like to think that I have a strong stomach but I woke up with stabbing pain in my gut and no matter how high I turned the heater up I had the chills all over my body. At past 2am I knew what had caused the problem. Three shrimp tacos that didn't look like they were processed in my body. Everything came up and it was a religious experience for me because it was so painful that I decided to write this review. Granted I have eaten here many times before, but once you have had your body assaulted from what you have eaten you just want to alert others to not have to deal with the same issues. To those of you that eat here my blessings, to thought of you that have had the same experience I know your pain. I am a real person who got really sick. Regular here, they are getting skimpy on the salsa and chips. That is probably the cheapest ingredient. I order on numerous occasions and Maria is really good, today another employee helped with the order and even when I specifically mentioned the extra chips and salsa. I usually go for their specials with my friend on Wednesday and Monday. Can't beat 99 cent tacos. They are a bit smaller than their normal tacos but still got. I also usually order ceviche. We've ordered aguachiles before which was good. For the price this is pretty good food. It's a small place with little seating but if seating is full we don't mind taking out. The lady who takes our order is pretty nice too. I gave 4 stars because food is good for the price. read more
