Stopped here for an early dinner while on our cross country roadtrip. Service was quick, good and friendly. The menu was huge! So many choices... My husband had the Chicken Fajitas, which he said were very good. I ordered the Supreme Nachos. The menu stated they would have Chicken, Beef and Beans. When I got them, I was very surprised at the lack of chips. I have never had a plate of nachos with hardly any tortilla chips. The dish was definitely more like a salad. At first that is what I thought might have happened, I had given me a salad instead. But then I saw one of the salads, they were served in a taco shell bowl. Once I started eating them, with a fork like a salad, I really liked the flavor but there was way more chicken then beef and beans, and there was A LOT of chicken. Always visit this place at least once when I'm in town, visiting my mom from up north (Michigan). The fresh made guacamole, which is made to order, is some of the best you'll have. We stopped here for dinner after a long drive from Florida. It was a very clean place with a large menu. My hubby and I both had the spinach and mushroom enchiladas with a side of rice and beans. The enchiladas looked like they sat under the heat lamp a little too long, but they were really good with plenty of filling and a light cheese sauce. Honesty I was never disappointed by a meal I had here and I've had plenty. The ambiance is nice and there are lots of TVs to catch different sports and highlights. The horchata is pretty good in my opinion and the menu is fairly large but straightforward. The biggest highlight for me is the house-made guacamole that they make table side. It's so fresh and tasty and enormous. It would be very easy to share with 3-4 people. I'm coming from out of town, due to work. And due to my ETA from arriving to said location, the only place open late was this location or another. I decided based on reviews from this location, this would be great food and amazing service. And boy was I wrong...we arrived at 9pm and they close at 10pm. We get seated immediately but next to the busier who would not move for us to get into our booth. The waitress was young and spoke broken English. She asked for our drinks, and my husband asked what beer do you have on draft? She looked at us both, and said "I don't know". When asked if she would go and check, she then rattled off basic domestic beer. We received our chips and salsa- chips were cold. I asked if she could get us fresh and hot chips. She stated, I don't know if they still have the heater on or not, but, I can check if you really want me too? I said, yes I would. After a couple of minutes we got semi warm ones. The main entrees were mediocre- very bland. Overall the experience and reviews of this establishment were no where up to be hyped about. Would not recommend. A true hidden gem in the small town of New Albany, Mississippi. I was in town meeting a client and following our meeting we headed to lunch. He recommended here and you don't have to twist my arm to eat Mexican, so off we headed. It is a decent sized restaurant that possesses a nice ambiance. Service is prompt and friendly and we places our orders and a bowl of chips and salsa was placed upon our table. The chips and salsa were a great start and the meal only got better. I ordered the California burrito with steak and it was very good, even better with the addition of their great homemade hot sauce. I ordered 4 carnitas street tacos and they were really good but they did not have all the flavor I'm used to getting from local food trucks. The staff was really nice and attentive despite initially forgetting my Fiancé's rice and beans. There is a bar awkwardly located in the back. I had the large Margarita which tasted good but was mostly ice. It was rainy or we would have sat on the side patio. Would I return? We had a custom order and they got it right the first time. Service was friendly and great. The food came out fast (despite our custom order) and hot. This was our first time here. We came off a referral by a friend and they nailed it! I'd drive out of my way to come back here. Fajitas are one of my very favorites and I've eaten them all across the US and Mexico. I have stopped to eat at El Agave in New Albany, MS, from time to time since they opened some years back. I have always enjoyed the food, the drinks, the cleanliness, the waiters and waitresses, seating arrangement. It is a top-notch restaurant. I have to tell you about my experience there last night, 01/26/2023. I have been getting dental work done in Memphis, TN, at the University Of Tennessee for four years now. I have a stint that fills in for three teeth missing. I am embarrassed in or out of public when I have to remove the stint to eat. I usually carry a small plastic box to store the stint in while I eat, and when I forget it, I wrap it in a table napkin and put it in my pocket, which is what I did last night. After having a wonderful meal with excellent service, I left the restaurant. After getting to my car, buckling up, and about to leave the parking lot, I realized I did not have the stint in. I searched my pants, shirt, and jacket pockets, but no splint. I quickly parked and ran back into the restaurant and over to the booth I had been sitting in having dinner with my sister, and it had already been cleared and cleaned. My heart sank, so I located my waiter and told him what I had done. He immediately went to the bus pan station to see if the articles from my booth were there. A waitress immediately went to the booth I was sitting in searching. My waiter and three others were searching through everything. I couldn't believe it with my own eyes. They were not shaking their heads no to exploring through the dirty dishes, napkins, and everything in the bus pans, and they were panicking just like me. I went back to the table to look again and came back and told everyone thank you when my hand felt something in another pocket I had forgotten I had. I call them Kangaroo Pockets. The pocket on the front of a pullover sweatshirt, aka hoody. and I usually do not use them for this very reason. I always forget I put something in them and embarrass myself looking for whatever it is until I remember it. These people were so sweet and accommodating in helping me look. No words can express the gratitude I have for these wonderful people. When I found my stint I first smiled at everyone without the teeth in and then put them in and smiled again, receiving laughter and big smiles from each of them. Thank God there are still good people on earth. read more
