Such a wonderful place in downtown New Albany. Truly delicious Italian food. We enjoyed the atmosphere. Modern and inviting. Servers were very helpful and tried to accommodate our requests. The food was great! Very tasty and on par with high class Italian restaurants in larger markets. Way beyond your typical Olive Garden or Carrabbas. More on par with Amerigo, Maggiano's, and local Italian places. Much better than the places I ate in Rome, Venice, and Florence. Of course, Americanized versions are more flavorful in my opinion. I loved the shrimp scampi, chicken Marsala, loaded baked potato casserole, and linguini. Look forward to going back soon and trying their pizzas.

Very nice restaurant. We went on a Monday night, ate at a high top in the bar area. Service was wonderful! Lighting is relaxing and the noise level was also nice and low, although it was busier than I expected for a Monday. For appetizers we ordered the fried mozzarella which I usually don't even like but it was excellent and calamari-little chewy, will try again bc it might have just been an off night. The hot honey pepperoni pizza was so good! My ribeye was flavorful but not over seasoned and cooked to perfection! Leftovers the next day were tender as well! You get two sides, I ordered the Ceaser salad which was great and asparagus. It was so good and seasoned nicely. I ordered a spicy margarita on the rocks and it was just okay. I felt like they used a mix which I don't like but whatever. Will try this restaurant again!!

Let me just start out by saying, this place is AmAzInG! The staff, the ambience, the decor, just overall AMAZING! The food was sooooo good, and top notch quality and hot. The bartender was our server since we sat in the bar area. His name was Coty (with a T). He was so nice, gave us recommendations of what to order, drinks, and etc. I can NOT and do NOT have a bad thing to say about this place. I HIGHLY recommend this place- and the prices soooooo good! 5 stars

The restaurant was beautiful. Low lighting warm atmosphere and brick walls. We're seated up stairs near a beautiful bar. Apparently they hold many events up stairs. The waitress was very sweet and helpful. She was covering the entire upstairs and was apologetic for keeping us waiting. We started with a side salad. I ordered the Caesar salad and my husband ordered the house salad both delicious and fresh. For the main course I ordered Tuscan chicken in a cream spinach sauce with bow tie pasta. Waitress was so nice offered to make it with any pasta I wanted. It was cooked to perfection. My husband ordered the lasagna with meat sauce. He stated it was delicious. The Resturant was a little pricey but the food and atmosphere made it worth it.

I would have picked a 3.5 star... We arrived at 5pm, asked…read moreto sit upstairs at the bar for a drink before dinner. The two very friendly hostesses said a class reunion was upstairs in the dinning section, but we could sit at the bar and come down for dinner without a need for a reservation. We sat at the bar for a drink, it was freezing, but probably because of the number of people for the reunion and the AC had to be set low. The bar tender was very busy, but sweet and attentive to us. She made us great cockatiels, with some wait, but totally understandable due to the large party for the reunion. We finished our drinks and moved down stairs for our meal. We placed an order for two appetizers to share ( I do think they are a bit pricey here). We had average table service, mostly because of the attitude of our server, not very attentive and felt like we were the bothering her. The food was excellent. Then restaurant was clean. I did visit the ladies room and the toilet seat was broken ( not knowing until I tried to stand back up and the lid fell on my back and the seat practically slipped off the toilet bowl. ) :0

THE FOOD The Highlight: The Tiramisu was the star of the evening--moist, semi-sweet, and rich. A tasty end to the meal. Starters: The freshly fired Cheese Bread was another win, topped with fluffy, warm cheese. A comforting start. The Entrees: The portion sizes for the Gnocchi, Lasagna, and Fettuccine Alfredo were enormous. You get a massive amount of food for the price. * Note: The execution didn't match the size. There were issues with texture and flavor depth across the main dishes. For example, the Fettuccine Alfredo sauce was watery and bland rather than creamy and rich. SERVICE & ATMOSPHERE The dining area has a homey, casual feel. The hostess and server were patient, and the waitress immediately swapped out a glass of red wine that had oxidized, which was appreciated. PARKING Plenty of streetside parking is available. OVERALL The Nautical Whimsey provides a large amount of food for the cost. It is a solid choice if you need to feed hungry teenagers who value quantity over culinary precision, but foodies looking for high-quality Italian might want to look elsewhere.
