This is the spot for a great Mexican food, they give huge portion of food for a reasonable price. I really like their carne asada and carnitas as the meat is seasoned well and cooked perfectly. Always start of with their trio dips that consists of queso , chori-queso dip and the guacamole. Complimentary chips and salsa is served minutes right after you are seated. Though, I must warn you that the service can be very slow and servers tend to be forgetful about parts of your order. Our last visit here they got our order wrong twice and this time they forgot our water and tortilla. I would definitely come back for their food, but might just opt for a takeout instead. read more

El Amigo has really gone downhill. I was excited to find red pozole on the menu, as most Mexican restaurants in the area don't make it. I expected something authentic, but what I received was insulting. The broth lacked flavor, seasoning, and depth. It tasted like birria consome, not pozole rojo. Red pozole has a distinct, full-bodied flavor from pork cooked with red chile, and the broth didn't have even a trace of that. They used beef instead of pork, and there was barely any meat or hominy in the soup. The few pieces of meat I found were tiny and mostly fat. The toppings were not fresh, and the cilantro smelled like it was starting to go bad. It was the worst pozole I have ever had. The lack of effort and care was obvious. It felt like they cut corners and threw together ingredients they already had, assuming most customers here wouldn't notice. If you're not committed to making it right, why even have it on the menu at all? I used to love going to El Amigo, but this completely ruined them for me. There are far better options now. read more

My date and I were drunk and hungry at home so we decided to order delivery. I forgot what delivery service we used but I was sad that there was no options to get hot sauce on the side. So when we got our food, they provided hot sauce anyways AND a side of grilled onions which was amazing! I got the 3 street taco a la carte with beef which was good! The beef-filled enchiladas were my favorite (VS the chicken and the cheese) and the waitress told me I could have all six enchiladas as beef the next time I come in, which I will definitely do. Decent prices for what you get. Most food we've tried has been good. Only complaint from me is the rice. Just not my cup of tea I guess. A little pricey tho. 1 taco for $5 or 3 for $14. For my meal I had the enchiladas verdes and they were out of this world. One is chicken, one potato, and one cheese. I love that it's a variety. The rice was nothing spectacular but with queso poured on it, it makes it super good. My friend got rice with chicken and poured queso all over it and it was amazing as well. We were a large party, but our waitress still did great with getting us all our food and drinks and checking up on us! 10/5/19 UPDATE: Sat down with a group of friends and we were served the salsa and chips....but guess what was hiding in the salsa? A piece of steel wool‍ and what did the waitress say? Oh, that's probably from the dishwashers and she was going to leave the salsa on the table; but I gave it to her before she walked away and said she could have it back. Posted the pic......not a very good experience. It was a frigid night, but we wanted to go to this restaurant since the first time was just cocktails basically. The tortilla chips served at the table were warm and very good. We really like the queso that we ordered also. I actually think I could drink it. I ordered the steak fajitas, and they were completely amazing. I left completely stuffed. Seeing that this is only our second visit I will definitely be back because I fell in love with the steak fajitas. The staff was friendly and attentive at the time. Most places in America have a hard time capturing the Mexican way of food - the intensely seasoned meats, the fresh vivid salsas, and a million ways to use corn tortillas. El Amigo does it right, and it is authentic - no tex-mex here. My girlfriend and I were visiting from out of town and had a Mexican craving. We had outdoor seating (a real blessing in COVID times) and a friendly, passionate (in the best of ways) Mexican waiter whom clearly knew their menu. Must try: Guacamole dip, fantastic, very fresh (clearly made to order) with just the right balance of acidity and richness from the avocados. Burrito Vallarta - looks like a mess on paper, but absolutely divine marriage of flavors and seasonings. A massive burrito loaded with meats, beans, rice, and topped with the most succulent savory pineapple and shrimp. Definitely the highlight, highly recommended. Al Pastor tacos aka pork and pineapple aka freakin delicious. If you don't know what these are, try them. El Amigo serves them faithfully, as they would in Mexico. Steak quesadillas. This restaurant serves large portions of authentic Mexican cuisine. The food is delicious and we have never been disappointed. However, the service is pretty slow so one should expect to wait for a while. The last time we dined here, someone in our group found a hair in their food (yuck!) Nonetheless, the servers are usually very friendly and will eagerly describe anything on the menu that you aren't familiar with.
