I recently checked out El Asadero Poblano after a friend recommended it to me and it definitely hit the spot. The meats were seasoned really well. My favorites were the al pastor and cabeza. Both had great flavor and the cabeza was tender. The tacos were really good and had that simple Tijuana style. I also tried their burrito and it was just okay. It was missing some sauces. That was kind of my fault because I did not see the salsa bar, so I missed out on adding sauces that probably would have made it better. Overall it is a solid spot for tacos and I will come back to try more items and this time won't forget their sauces. read more

El Asadero Poblano has it's 2nd location in the rear of a Valero gas station. Not a taco truck. Food is dispensed in a tented area. A grill is behind the serving counter. Hours in the evening 5-10 weekdays. Weekends 4-10. Forgot to take pic. My memory isn't perfect. Posted what I roughly remembered. Ordered at cashier station in the middle. Pick up floor at the window next to it about 5 minutes later. Behind the cashier is the self-serve salsa station. A dine-in table is in the corner next to salsa station. No marked area for parking. 1 is alongside the gas station. The other is alongside sidewalk area. Not much decor, music from a boom box. Patrons were all amigos. Offerings (Tijuana-style, Mexico): meat plate, tacos, burritos, tortas, quesadillas, quesatacos. Mulitas, Memelas, Aqua Fresca, vampiro Bites: cabeza/pastor tacos (2/$7j -garnishes of grilled onions, guacamole, cilantro on housemade corn tortillas. Got red & green salsa, jalepenos, onions & lime squeeze from salsa bar. Pastor was slightly dry, not tender. Green salsa mild. Cabeza was moist, tender. Red salsa pretty spicy. 4.5 stars Worthy! This place is my go-to spot in Hayward since it's so close and so convenient, and they open pretty late. I love how they have Tijuana style tacos meaning the tortillas are made fresh and you can really taste the difference! Their tacos are $3.50 each which is slightly cheaper than most places! I've been to spots that charge at least $4 or $5 per taco and sometimes the tortillas isn't made fresh. The best item to order is their carne asada tacos - so freaken good! And I love their self-serve salsa bar. Some places skimp on the salsas and give you tiny containers, but this spot lets you get as much as you need. The cups are not the tiny half size sauce cups, they're the full ones! I would get a bunch of salsas to go. I LOVE the habanero one, sooo freaken spicy. We also tried their other items from the super big burrito to vampiro to quesadilla. I recommend their corn quesadilla because the tortilla is made from scratch. Tastes sooo freaken good! The al pastor is really tasty here as well. The middle of the night Insta reel death spiral led me here to the Hayward location of El Asadero Poblano. Our favorite Tijuana style taqueria is Mi Reynita but we were thrilled to see this place open just a few minutes down the street from us so we decided to give it a try. Rating Breakdown: 1.5/2 Stars for Taste -- We tried the asada, cabeza, lengua, al pastor, and tripas. Our favorite is the cabeza, which was tender and just the right amount of fatty. I'm not usually a fan of asada because it tends to be too dry for me, but the asada here had a good smoky flavor that made it a surprising winner. The al pastor was juicy but I was sad it didn't come with any pineapple. The lengua was pretty standard, it didn't stand out much to us. I ordered the tripas in a corn quesadilla. The handmade tortilla itself was chewy and delicious, but the cheese inside wasn't melted all the way and it felt like they skimped a bit. They were generous with the tripas , but even though I asked for it extra crispy, it came out a bit soggy/chewy and offputtingly oily. There were three types of salsa. The green mild salsa was kind of bland. The super spicy orange one felt more like pain without flavor. We liked the medium red one, which had a nice balance of flavor and heat. The horchata was creamy and sweet, the way I like, but my husband prefers the more watered down version. 0.5/1 Stars for Value -- It's $3.50 per taco, which is pretty standard nowadays. The quesadilla was $13, which felt expensive for what I got. There is also a $2 upcharge per item for tripas and lengua, which I found a bit steep. This is why I ordered the tripas as a quesadilla since it's also $2 but you get a lot more protein. The aguas frescas are $5, which is cheaper than some other places. 1/1 Stars for Customer Service -- The server at the front was super nice and helpful. You order at the front and they give you a ticket to give the kitchen to start your order. The salsa and grilled jalapeno/onions are self-serve. The truck next to the gas station so parking is limited. You can pay with cash or Zelle. Bonus star because although it does not beat out Mi Reynita in our hearts, we would come by again for tacos if we are too lazy to drive all the way to San Leandro. We would skip the meats with surcharge and quesadilla. They didn't have the fresa con crema agua fresca this time, so I would come back to try that next time! read more

AMAZING service and quality of food. The meat was very savory and well made. We got a burrito, tacos and a mulita de asada. It was delicious omg the best burrito I've ever had as of now, very filling. The tacos are made with hand made tortillas, and to top it off the salsas are self served. I definitely give this place a 10/10 and will be coming back very soon. Please support these kind people they are doing an amazing job. Tried this place recently due to my boyfriend raving that it's similar to the quality at Tacos Gonzalez on the other side of Hayward. Came there to pick up dinner around 7:30PM and found that the place was crackin'. Hella cars parked out front and a line of people ready to eat. The ambiance consisted of your usual outdoor taco stand with a canopied tent with plenty of tables and chairs. Boyfriend told me carne asada quesa tacos were the best here so he ordered us a bunch. Sides are self serve and they got a bunch of foil, plastic, and salsa containers within reach too. Heads up, the "spicy" salsa is a bit salty tasting. The tacos themselves were pretty tasty. Portion size is solid and while I can't say these are the best I've had, I can say this place is good for its location and what it has to offer. read more

Had a big ass burrito here . It costs $25 but fed me all day. Usually when you buy big burritos, they tend to lose the flavor because they are so big, but not this one. Decided to give this place a 3rd try. Went late at night, pretty long line as usual which isn't a problem. I ordered some 4 tacos, 2 cabeza and 2 Lengua. And 2 mulitas of alpastor. Well they gave me all tacos of cabeza. Seems like they don't read their own orders well or just don't care. Because this is the second time it's happened. Mind you I noticed this when I got home. The cabeza meat was alright, tasted fresh and didn't have any odor. Taco portion and price is good I'd say. But again there's no flavor that pops in their food. As for the mullitas, alpastor was ok in flavor. The portion of meat inside the mullitas was more than enough. The tortillas were pretty much burnt. Their aguas Frescas are very tasty though. I do love the self serve salsa station. But besides that I've given this place various tries and it's definitely all hype. Maybe if I was hammered drunk I'd find the food phenomenal but it's not very flavorful nor worth the 20-30min wait just to order. read more

I went to El Asadero Poblano on my 30 min break. The staff was super nice Angel explained all the options. I'd go back just cause of his customer service. I went with the asada but was torn because they gave me a taste test of both the asada and the carnitas.
