The digestive was amazing, as well as the cookies with star anise. The dessert was the star- a cheese tart that is better than any cheesecake i have ever tasted anywhere else. Just a wonderful and delicious rustic restaurant. We came for the suckling pig and it exceeded our expectations. So crispy and so much flavor. This was recommended by our taxi driver. Overall it was pretty decent. The 1/4 roast suckling pig was great, especially the skin. It was a little disconcerting seeing baby teeth on some of the bones, but it keeps you thinking about what you're eating I guess. The grill lamb chops were interesting- they came in a grill above coals... and looked just like bones, no meat. It turned out there was a little meat at the ends and some fat along the ribs which was tasty, but it was definitely not the US version of lamb chops. This place was so worth the price tag! It was a great experience. Staff was super helpful. We don't speak Spanish, but it appears most of the staff did. You cook the steaks on a hot table top stone. They'll replace the stone with another hot throughout your cooking experience. My husband had a lamb dish and it was large. It was tender and perfectly seasoned. This is definitely a nicer date night feel. If you're a tourist, I would make a stop back at the hotel to change out of your sight-seeing clothes into something nicer. read more

We were in search of a restaurant that specializes in cuchinillo and found one really close to where we were staying. El Asador de Aranda was less than a short block from us. Sweet! Got there a few minutes before it opened. Several cuchinillos and lamb just finished roasting in the wood-fired oven. We were seated in a semi-private dining alcove with seats comfortable to sit on for an extended time. The roasted chicken came out looking understated but nothing ordinary about its taste. One of the best roasted chicken, flavorful and juicy. Entrecôte was fantastic. You will need to make sure to replace the stones to make sure you get a good searing of the meat. The Cuchinillo is on the expensive side, in my opinion, but nicely roasted with skin crisp and meat succulent, so I would go back on our next visit to BCN. read more
