The best Mexican restaurant in town and I've eaten at them all. They are a cut above the average as they take the time to marnate and tenderize their meat. A girl I worked with recommended this place for margaritas. They were strong and delicious. I got the lime iced and husband got a blue one which I can't remember the name of it. Food was yummy, chicken enchiladas flavorful and chili Colorado has great spice to it. The only thing is the salsa is like tomato sauce if you're into not hot or even warm then it's for you but we like hot salsa. Went on a Sunday so they do close early. We love their guacamole (made table-side with perfectly ripe avocados, plenty of fresh cilantro, diced jalapeño and onion), their shrimp enchiladas and margaritas. Solid menu, good service. Okay Mexican restaurant: not outstanding, just okay. Chips were warm, salsa peppery, and guacamole was made fresh tableside. The service was lacking (drink refilled just once and only two visits total from our waitress). I was disappointed in my meal: the tamale was yummy, but they poured ground beef and cheese on top (who does that?) My burrito ground beef lacked any cheese or sour cream or lettuce and the beef had no flavor or spice. It disappoints me when Mexican places stick beef in a tortilla and call it a burrito: laziness is what I call it! The cheese enchilada was good, and so was the rice. The refried beans weren't memorable. Except for the guacamole made tableside, nothing really distinguishes this restaurant from any other Claremore Mexican restaurant: fast, semi-tasteless food with no spices to kick them over the edge and make them memorable.. read more

Do NOT eat here! My fiancé had a fly in his food and I had only taken 3 bites of my food and of course refused to eat the rest because I am pregnant and I'm not risking eating the food with flys in it. We we're polite to the waiter and told him about the fly and that I was not eating mine either because I was pregnant. They still made me pay for the food!! I literally ate THREE BITES!! When I took the ticket up the guy was completely rude and said it wasn't his problem that my fiancé's food was the one with the fly and not mine so I still needed to pay for mine even tho it wasn't ate! I have had a few pleasant experiences here until tonight. I had taken my son and girlfriend out for his birthday expecting a decent meal. All was going great until at the end of my burrito I was cutting it up and a black hair was in it. When I brought it to the waiters attention he immediately ask if I was sure it was in the burrito. The manager was called and he apologized. I thought all was good and we would get that particular meal taken off the bill, seeing I was not going to eat it. When I went to pay I asked if he was taking it off and he took me to the kitchen to see that all of the guys working didn't have longer hair. None were wearing hairnets that were working with the food. He tried to insist there was no way it was in the burrito and was insinuating we had placed it there. He took off the price for half burrito. I will not be back because of this particular managers attitude. I have never been treated like I was the one who caused the problem. read more

I will first apologize because I will likely anger some foodies here. I am just beside myself when I read things like "El Banquete is the best Mexican food in Claremore" etc. I suppose if you enjoy lukewarm, canned refried beans then I can see your point. No literally...canned refried beans. Also, over priced dishes, bland rice and under proportioned plates. My wife and I have been there about five times since they opened. Over the last 2 years. Same result consistently. Service is at best average to poor. Just because you serve your food on contemporary white square plates doesn't mean your food is good. The proof is in the pudding folks and food deserves honesty. Honestly El Banquete, your pudding is very disappointing. We went for taco Tuesday's tonight and the tacos were "Americana" and I could do better in my kitchen. Weak to say the least. I'm trying to be fair with this review but it's difficult. We had 2 tacos left and asked for a carry out box and were denied because "the tacos were only to be eatin there." REALLY? What are you going to do, throw them away? Waiste them? Eat them after your shift? Even worse, re-serve them next Tuesday? Ridiculous....! Yeah, I get the principle about not being taken advantage of, but seriously... You may have saved two tacos but you lost two customers plus whoever we reach. And trust me word of mouth advertising can be your biggest strength or worse nightmare. This is small town USA it's how we communicate. Are you people that are righting thumbs up reviews here drunk? It is by far the worst Latino influenced food in Claremore, or green country at that. Also, Claremore does not have "Mexican" restaurants, rather "Tex Mex". If you want good "Tex Mex" in Claremore, aim for El Azteca or El Charro. For delicious "authentic" tacos go to the Blue Whale in catoosa and order off of Molly's Food Truck. As far as thumbs ups....I do appreciate the diversity of the menu and selection. The sauces are unique and good too. Particularly liked the Samon Boom Boom Sauce! Good ambiance and a clean place. Neat little bar. That's really all I can say. I can't help but think that those that rave about this place have never been out of Claremore, ok. Nothing against, I grew up in a smaller town than Claremore and love Claremore. However I've traveled and had a taste of many cultures making for a more affluent pallet. Trust me this food is probably best for one thing only and that is making a turd. Sorry El Banquete, we tried 5 times with the same poor results so we give you a thumbs down and will never return, and see too it that those we know don't either. Having lived in New Mexico for many years, I have developed a taste for good Mexican food. El Banquete did not disappoint in any way. The background music was Mexican which to me truly adds to the experience, I can listen to American music anywhere. The staff were friendly and helpful and our waiter was easy to kid around with, making for some great laughs. When my father ordered Guacamole a talented woman pulled up a cart and made it fresh at our table, it was a big taisty hit. My wife had the "best chicken fajitas salad" she has ever tasted in her life. Mom and I enjoyed the beef enchiladas, the best I have had in a restaurant since returning to Oklahoma. We don't get to see my parents very often so going to an unknown restaurant and having such a great experience was a real treat. read more

Brought a large crowd for Sunday lunch during the after-church rush. Note that the main parking is on the East side of the building, but street parking is available on the other side as well. The staff was super accommodating to our multiple requests for more salsa, large queso blanco ($8), spicy salsa, etc. The Margaritas were delicious, and fairly priced at $3.50 each. The complementary spicy salsa was fire roasted and definitely held a substantial portion of habanero peppers. I can say the quesadillas were large, and the enchilada plates were huge. My street-style carne asada tacos (3) were tastey, though I'm not sure why one was in a corn tortilla while two others were in flour. Also, the side dish was queso covered refried beans was strange to me, but good especially when spooned over tacos. Be sure to ask for cilantro and onions to go with the street tacos! Me and my family went there to eat for the first time. We had a huge wait time to be greeted and get our drinks ordered. When the waiter was taking the order for the drinks, I asked about a dessert tres leches and the availability. He assured me they had it available tonight. We also ordered guacamole and cheese sauce. The drinks took quite awhile to get there. My husband ordered the El pollo special, my son 2 cheese enchiladas with rice and beans, and I ordered a taco, chile relleno, and rice and beans. Me and my husband have shellfish allergies and I have fish allergies too. So my husband stops eating and says something doesn't taste right. My son who eats this same meal everywhere we go, didn't want to finish it. I could tell, just as my husband that our meals were prepared and then put in a freezer and then re-heated. When I asked for the tres leches dessert he left and came back to tell me I couldn't have it because it was it frozen solid. He offered me to try another dessert. I ordered the deep fried cheesecake chimichanga (which he brought out not as described on the menu-it had a bunch of strawberry topping -which I'm glad I didn't have an allergy to.) It was also, on top of that soggy, and not warm at at all. About this time my husband is having anaphylactic shock to seafood cross contamination. We get a (Manager) to our table, I ask him to touch my dessert. He says they don't go through enough to make it fresh. I ask about the cross contamination, he said we (customers) should disclose all their allergies. They use one grill to cook everything on. So, I explained the dessert was gross and I had to take my husband to the hospital. By the way when a customer is asking questions and you are yelling and arguing with them, don't expect repeat business. we also saw the waiters, ect standinding around talking in crowds, on cell phones, texting while people had to wait and we did too. BY THE WAY ALL THEIR MENUS SAY THEY HAVE FRESH FOOD! The good: Good salsa, good guac (had it made at the table), good chips, decent frozen margaritas (generic but strong), good beans, really good combo fajitas. The bad: Asked to be seated outside. Sat down at the table and it was the cheapest, flimsiest table I have ever seen. Wobbled, bounced around, brutal. Went inside to eat at an actual table. Just says a lot about the management. Also, below avg. rice. The ugly: Was given a tiny amount of sour cream for the fajitas. Asked for more. Was charged a dollar for an enormous amount ( basically what we should have been given in the first place). Also, no shredded cheese is given with the fajitas ( first time I've ever encountered that). Asked for some. Was charged a dollar. And watch out for the shrimp in the fajitas. They leave the tail on for some reason so you have to pull it off yourself. All in all I'd go back but would stipulate ahead of time with the waiter about the fajitas and what was expected. read more
