My Churrasco was like chewing on a tire. Pollo tropical does it better if i'm being completely honest. the Garlic sauce that the four little shrimp were just sitting is was INSANELY salty. it's a shame that this place is still in business. i used to drive by it all the time, and the ambience look really cool at night. not to be mean but i think the only people still coming here is caucasians, who enjoy something similar like Tex Mex food. Me and my husband stop at this spot by accident seeing the other restaurant close by was to busy, but I'm glad we had dinner here! Our server was very sweet and gave suggestions on what I should order and it didn't disappoint, however my husband was not fully satisfied as his sandwich didn't have much meat in it but he said it was still good just not filling. He had the steak sandwich, it's a cute little spot with good music playing at a good volume. This was our first time here so it's hard to give it a 5 right away and seeing my husband wasn't wowed have to give it a 4 star review. However I absolutely loved my meal! Yes, it's located in the middle of a parking lot, but still pleasant, even when sitting outside. The red snapper is their specialty and didn't disappoint. Today's catch was a little small, which the waiter warned us, but easy to supplement with rice and beans. read more

Unfortunately, my wife was hurrying and didn't think about reading the reviews prior. My wife ordered churassco, fries, and plantains for me and ceviche for herself. The churassco was overly cooked and hard to chew, the fries came as rice that she never ordered, but at least the plantain tasted like plantain...so that's a win. No sauces were given to us for the steak so it was simply those three items. My wife ate a little of the ceviche and began to become nauseous so she stopped eating it. Let me start by saying looks can be deceiving. While their presentation is horrible , the flavor is in incredible! I was so excited to try this food because I was using food dash for the first time and some Cuban cuisine sounded fantastic.they're a little pricey , but we splurged. When the food arrived I was more than disappointed. It looked plastic. Gray in color, thrown in the box with no effort , and the portions were extremely small . However, after taking one bite I knew we made the right call ! The food was packed with flavor. The meat was juicy and tender and do delicious! Even the rice and beans had flavor which surprised me since these are pretty staple items that usually taste the same. I was very impressed with the bold citrus that came through in both the pork and the steak! Overall, food was fantastic and I loved it ! Only reason I didn't go with the full five stars is because of presentation, price, and portion. Most meals like this come with rice, beans , and plantains . The staff is friendly, the food is really good, and it comes out quickly. El Bohio opened in 1997. The casual restaurant is still owned by the original owners. I have only used takeout so I don't know if the covered seating is the only area to eat or if there's indoor dining. This restaurant is a local hangout. I came across this cute little cuban outdoor cafe. So, I decided to give it a try. I had a simple thin cut steak with white rice and beans. Wished I would have more adventurous when ordering as they have a great selection of authentic cuban dishes. Loved the ambiance and all their authentic cuban decor. The most appealing features, however, are open-air dining room and the very attentive young man waiting the tables. Overall, i had a very relaxing and pleasant lunch and delicious cuban cafe. So far my experience has been wonderful. The order was quick and the waitstaff was super nice! The food was really good. The steak was tasty and the rice and beans out of this world. DISAPPOINTING. Bought 2 Cuban sandwiches costing a few cents short of $10 each. I didn't get what I was expecting. The Cuban sandwich was lacking in meat, the cheese was not discernible nor did it have any pickles or mustard. I know what a Cuban sandwich is but I had to look up its definition to be certain. Sure enough I was correct and EL BOHIO failed miserably in constructing the Cuban sandwich. Don't understand how an authentic Cuban restaurant can't produce a true Cuban sandwich. I can only imagine how authentic their Cuban food is. This restaurant has existed for almost 30 years in this plaza being founded by a Cuban immigrant in 1996. It was ok nothing to write home about but it satisfied a craving to go out to eat something a bit diferent. I had some leftover for lunch so that justifies in my mind costs not that it was expensive as hey your getting another meal for free. If that makes sense. I've been here before a couple of times around lunch once for a Cuban sandwich, once for a couple of empanadas and the window was doing a brisk takeout both times with mostly Spanish being spoken. So despite the ho-hum reviews we gave it a shot rather then venturing further north to Havana. It's located in the forefront of a strip mall at Lantana and Federal Cant miss it. Disclosure had a beer in a cup and brought it in no problem. Our server was cool. Nan ordered a glass of red wine and she said it was decent. I got the grouper with 4 jumbo garlic shrimp on top. Loved the garlic sauce and there was plenty of it to mix into my rice. The plantains were perfect and the refried beans were good too. The grouper was a nice piece not super large but very moist and tasty with that garlic. Nan got the breaded chicken with a nice sauce on it plantains, rice n beans. I had hers for my next day lunch. Wouldn't hesitate if driving by or nearby to grab a bite, might be other options for destination dining. They do have live Cuban music or at least a dj on weekend nights and I imagine the place hums. read more

I only stopped here once so far for colada and a ham and egg sandwich but I was happy with my experience thus far. It's great to have a Cuban joint near my house that is that and not a fusion of Tex-Mex or anything else for that matter. The time when I went to the take-out stand outside was chill. I think I knocked back the colada by the time my sandwich was ready... on actual Cuban bread and not French. Thank God. Was very happy with my sandwich, and was getting looks and questions from at least a couple of people from the office as to where I went for breakfast - especially my mechanic. We came in to have late lunch, we asked for a chicken with shrimp with side order of yuca. The chicken and shrimp sauce was extremely SALTY, and It looks like the Yuca have been fried in super dirty oil, ( see picture) and it tasted horrible, we brought to their attention and they did not offered anything else as a replacement and they had the nerve to charge us. It's a pretty good spot to get homemade taste food. It's small and clean, customer service it's ok. Or at least they just don't greet/welcome you as you arrive as you'd expect. This place was my first Cuban food experience. When I moved to South Florida I had heard bunches about Cuban food because well... there's lots of Cubans here! I really didn't know what to expect of Cuban food and no one could give me a good description of it.. so with this limited knowledge I went to El Bohio. The ambiance of the place is small, cute, eclectic and homey. There's two parts to it: the outside bar and the inside restaurant. I'm pretty sure you could get food in either place but we chose to eat inside. There's a few tables and a TV that was playing some show about shark attacks. The service was friendly (albeit all in Spanish but luckily my whole table either understood or spoke Spanish) and quick which I appreciated. I'll definitely come back to El Bohio again. Oh, wait, what? Did you think I left something out? Silly. Of course I wouldn't fail to mention the food! It was DELICIOUS! I didn't know that Cuban food would be so flavorful. I ate the Churrasca (skirt steak) with plantains, white rice and black beans. I've had other types of churrasca before but I thought this was amazingly flavorful... especially the chimichurri sauce. Even though it was really strong w/ garlic and vinegar flavor I liked it! I put so much sauce on my steak that I think the vinegar wreaked havoc on my intestines. Despite my intestinal fight I still would absolutely eat here again to try more food. The prices are great too! So definitely come here!
