We usually go to the Wayside location but since we were in the neighborhood... I know they are the same but I swear the wayside location just tastes better. To be fair I might be a little bias because it's what I'm used to. The bolillos are worth the drive from Galveston. I eat one with cheese before we leave the parking lot!

    Bolillos fresco!

This is a great bakery in the Houston area! Came here visiting my family and went to Bolillos Bakery. The service and people working there were super friendly and helpful. We asked several times about ingredients used in certain products and the staff was very helpful. The quality and taste of the various products was FANTASTIC!!! We were also served champurrado drink and it was the best! The sweet breads were all great, not too sweet, nice and savory. If you're ever in the Houston area and you like great bake goods go to El Bolillo!!!

    Assorted empanadas that smell amazing.

Always fresh bread here, the smell is amazing as you walk in. Nice variety of other products like tortillas, tamales, hot sauces, cakes, coffee, ect. Everything you need for a relaxing evening enjoying your sweets. I love coming here, employees are always friendly and welcoming. Great location. Keep up the great work that you do for the community like acknowledging those who serve the community. Thank you! Thank you!

Favorite purchases were these cute sugar cookies.

I think I heard about this place from a foodie group that I'm in - I remember someone mentioning that El Bolilo was well worth the drive for those of us who live in the loop. The outside of the building looked like a very charming pastel version of Rosa's and the inside was just as colorful. There were cases of colorful and cute sugar cookies - Hello Kitty, Spongebob, minions from Despicable Me, etc. These were so delicious and I'm kicking myself for not picking up a few more. I also got a croissant cone filled with cream, an angel food nut muffin, and a concha, of course. I'm still eating my way through these, but so far they have all been incredibly yummy! Since there's a $5 minimum to pay with a card, I added on a $1.10 self-serve coffee, which put my overall total for 5 bakery items and a coffee at $5.60 - an absolute steal for baked goods this good!

Caramel tres leches - chocolate is better

Working my way through their tres leches after being hooked to their chocolate tres leches. Super nice staff and again a very clean and vibrant environment. The second tres leches I tried was the caramel one. I got to say, from just looking at it in the case, it didn't look as lavishly creamed as some of the others, but I was craving something caramely so I decided to get it. I mean why not - price is crazy good. It wasn't as distinctive in flavor as compared to the chocolate and could benefit from some textural differences - something crunchy. In the end, chocolate over caramel but the caramel isn't bad.

    Cute little store front

Excellent customer service, wonderful selection, and delectable treats make a phenomenal recipe for success. Enter...El Bolillo! First of all everyone was friendly and welcoming. From the cashier to the security guard you could sense the pride and genuineness everyone has for their job. Impressive! As mentioned in other reviews, this place is clean...clean. The guard even sprays your hands with sanitizer upon entry. This was DEFINITELY my kind of joint. The tres leches was wonderfully moist, but not so much so that it detracted from the integrity of the cake. Fresh cream and strawberries culminated for a sensational treat. They also have good bunuelos and galetas! I give them two thumbs up. This is my new fav spot!

"MERENDAR" means snack. Pan dulce to the Mexican comunity is more than just a snack. It can be breakfast or dinner and everything in between. Growing up it was always pan dulce time. Friends originally told me about this small family owned 2 location bakeries when they saw it come across their TV screens on the news for the famous Unicorn Conchas aka Uniconchas. I decided that I would make my pan dulce trips to El Bolillo on the eastend even though there was a nearby Arandas, but there are those lazy days. I've learned they started out in the heights grew to two locations. In my review of El Bolillo on Wayside (eastend), I did mention their pan isn't any better than any other bakery, but I find something different every time I visit El Bolillo. The colors of their pan dulce are immensely bright and visually extra appealing compared to all the other bakeries in Houston. La Buena suerte (good luck) that El bolillo has had in a booming business for their hard work and great customer service has translated into la Buena suerte (good luck) for me. They now have a third location in Pasadena. I been a few times, but this last time I specifically went for a unicorn cake for a photo shoot to celebrate my *ahem* fortieth birthday coming up in February. It was beautiful when I picked it up. Thank goodness I only used a slice for the cake smash. My friends and I indulged on delicious early birthday cake. I can say it's one of the best cakes I've had! I have to admit I am biased towards chocolate on chocolate and that was not possible with the unicorn cake. They also put strawberries in it and I wasn't sure that was going to be a hit, but you guys they have it down. Don't skip the fruit filling when ordering your cake! Be warned the line wraps around the bakery on both sides to check out! They are busy and I mean busy but they move it along quickly. Although they earned this title back in 2011, I think it still applies in 2018. THE OFFICIAL BEST BAKERY IN TEXAS. I am especially a fan of: Polvorones Churros Bolillos My kids like: Puerquito/Marranito galletas Conchas Cuernitos The choices are endless and colors are forever changing. El Bolillo in my opinion is Mex-cellent!

Came to this location hoping to get lucky and find a birthday cake for my daughter whom is turning 15 her big day. Usually the place to go is the panaderia on Spencer which is good. I am not a big person on pan dulce (sweet bread). Anyways I pulled in and first impression very clean it smells oh so yummy pan dulce. It was a Saturday so there wasn't many choices from cakes but I found one. The location is big and I love to see Raza working there! It's very well lit up. As soon as you walk in to your right are the tongs and trays for your goodies. Definitely will come to try their pan dulce.

    Pathetic cake.

Absolute embarrassment. Lol. A birthday cake is the star of the show at a party. I can't believe i asked for something so simple and this is the pathetic job i received. There was "nothing they could do". If the party wasn't in a few hours, i would have sat there until they made it right but i have so much more to do than correct someone i trusted, paid, and supported. I ordered this a week in advance. Oh and if you're wondering what i asked for, its "all white cake with borders and happy birthday sammy in navy blue and cursive lettering" .. should i have specified that i wanted it centered and look decent as well????

This was my first foray into one of these bakeries, and I must say it was great! I didn't really understand how it worked at first but I watched others and figured it out. There are big silver trays and tongs by the door, then you go around to the different cabinets and fill your tray and then check out. Nothing was labeled or priced, but I picked a few items and it was less than $5 so not too expensive. Everything I got was very tasty.

I ordered my daughter's birthday cake from here. A large unicorn cake and a smaller one, just for her. The cakes were super cute. But I had requested a strawberry cake for the small one and when we cut into it, it was vanilla. We were disappointed but when I contacted the bakery about the mistake, they offered a refund. Even with the mistake, the cakes were delicious and thanks to their great customer service, we will use them again. The price was very affordable and we only had to order 2 days in advance. Aside from the birthday cakes, the place smells AMAZING when you walk in. Can't wait to go back and try a bunch of their pastries.

I couldn't fuss the day I recieved my cake due to the crazyness of the babyshower we were having but I'm sorry the cake we recieved was not what we expected. For ua to pay 200 and some for a cake I expected better quality ..the baby feet put on this cake my 9 yr old would of done a better job they look like bigfoot feet the pic on bottom was what we expected and the cake on top is what we recieved ...I love your bakery but this cake was a joke ...honestly I dont think I will ever order a custom cake from you all ever again

    Tres leches

Not as great as the other bollio bakeries. We had high hopes especially since we buy a lot of celebration cakes from the bakeries. Maybe over time they will improve. Hopefully since they are so close to our house.

Bread is average but how are you going to accept every other form of payment except cards for an under $5 purchase? Ridiculous.

There are many regulars that we see and speak to every week. That's how you know people like a place and feel welcome... they keep coming back. Crystal (the owner/manager) is kind and wonderful. She is on top of things and I've seen her do every job from computer work to straightening up to helping cook in the back. She seems to be the type of person who is willing to do whatever needs to be done. She also seems to have a great relationship with her staff and that's also very important. Manuel is very friendly and helpful. He's knowledgeable about their menu and always remembers what our friend likes to drink when she forgets what it's called. I love the openness and space. There's a couch and chairs in the back if you feel like lounging, plenty of tables in the front for eating, working, or just sitting at. There are games that people can play although sometimes children get ahold of them and pieces go missing. There is also a little kids play area which is golden when you have a toddler. I love that I can sit and have my food/coffee and also keep an eye on my little guy while he plays. It's a wonderful place to meet with people or to just take your kids when you need to sit down with a cup of coffee while they play. They have a good variety of drinks on top of the seasonal offerings. The food is good, and I kind of love that a lot of it is made in a waffle iron. It makes me want more waffle shaped food. The grilled cheese is made with sourdough bread and cooked in a waffle iron. It has these little crispy bits that are heavenly. One of my favorites is the sausage egg and cheese biscuit with a side of gravy. It's also prepared in a waffle maker and has those little crispy bits on the edges. So so good! So yourself a favor and give it a try.

My sister and I are always down for coffee and always ready to try something new. We came a couple times during the opening week for our free small coffees, and we've been several times since. When we first came, the lines were BACKED UP... we were a little hesitant because we thought the lines might take forever to move, but we were very impressed with how well they were running things and moving the lines. They don't have a posted menu until you get up to the front, so you have to either look it up online or scan the QR Code. They have a lot of coffee options, but also many non-coffee options for those who want something else. There have been multiple people outside taking orders every time we've gone, and the lines move quickly. This is a stay in your car and order type place, but you may also be able to order at the window. I'm not sure because I haven't really paid much attention to see whether or not they have a walk-up window. It's cheaper than Starbucks, with more flavors/drinks to choose from. Comparable to Dutch Bros in style, yet different when it comes to taste. I'm happy that I don't have to drive 15+ minutes to get to 7Brew anymore, and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a drink. As for the one star review with the lady who didn't get a free coffee, but saw the free coffee signs... it was only certain days/hours during their grand opening week. I don't think leaving a one star review was fair. P.S. they also have muffin tops. Try the Lemon Poppyseed.
