This is a cozy and popular restaurant. We stopped in for brunch on a Saturday. Such a cute location-we felt like we were just driving in a neighborhood and all of a sudden there was this cute little western village! It was busy but we didn't have to wait for a table for 2. Our food quality was mixed. My husband and I shared the Wild West Fries, which were amazing. My husband ordered the brunch burger which was tasty but very messy. When I parked I was facing the cafe and didn't think much of it, but while walking up we heard Christmas music playing over the outdoor speakers. The cafe is a small house and while entering noticed that it was pretty well packed at 1pm. The place is only open till 2pm every day. We were seated in the 2nd room, they have 3 rooms of dining. Our waitress met us promptly and asked for drink orders, I particularly wanted a cappuccino, but for coffee all they had was just coffee. Though they were serving drinks and not just mimosas which was surprising to me, my buddy had the holiday margarita and I ordered a paloma. For food waitress suggestion was west side fries as an appetizer they we split, which was topped with brisket. It was just okay for me, nothing too special. What I really wanted since it's starting to become a little chilly was some sort of soup. Come to find out they had Chicken n dumplings. Now as for Houston I have only had one good order of this dish and that was way in the country miles north of Cypress, so wasn't expecting much. I was completely surprised it was really great and they were fresh made in house dumplings. Flavor was amazing and texture was on point. It was a huge serving especially after having the appetizer that I could finish the bowl. It came out a perfect edible temperature as well. My buddy had the chicken & waffles and he as well could only get through half his meal, but he really enjoyed it as well. Now the experience As we were walking to our cars we noticed some old style western setting just across the parking lot. First one that caught my eye was Hotel & Saloon. We decided to take a look and as walking there the Christmas music followed us as well. We walked up to a sign that read "Welcome to Sycamoreville". Just as we walked up a lady came and met us and come to find out she was the owner of the property and the cafe and the coffee shop down the street as well. She told us the history and how they have events here and the saloon opens up to these events. It was a small town that has a church and during weddings the jailhouse building is where the groom/groomsmen dress. There were about 8 different buildings and a church, a small western town. This was a delight to hear the story and how it's been here for around 20 years. The owner had half the houses delivered from neighborhoods in the Heights and they built on top of these houses to make it look more authentic. read more

We decided to visit this restaurant on a Sunday morning and once we got there we were amused by the scenery and old wild west vibe but as soon as we were sat down our host spilled salt all over the table and didn't apologize or wipe it off. We got coffee and when the waitress brought out the creamer there was creamer spilt on the table and she didn't clean it off just left it there so we had to wipe it off ourself after asking for napkins. Very disappointed with the service. The restroom was filthy there was urine all over seat and on the floor. Napkins and tissue all over the floor overflowing the trash bins it was disgusting. Our order took over 30 minutes to come out. I ordered the grilled chicken mozerella sandwich and the burger was super salty the bacon seemed to be cured in salt it was extremely salty. There was 2 little pieces of red onion on my burger. The chicken in my sandwich was very very rubbery and had no flavor. My boyfriend got the turkey and spinach panini; it was not a panini they used regular white toasted bread it was good but NOT a panini at all. The fries that we got were very very salty, they used kosher salt but put too much of it I had to scrape it off. They were also very cold and soggy when we got our food . Lastly we got a cup of their daily soup which was a potato soup , it was flavorless no seasoning .I usually don't review places this critically but this was very very disappointing. The food here was incredible and very delicious. The waitress was so nice and friendly, she was so sweet and very polite. It was an hour before closing and it was very peaceful. The restaurant had an old timey feel to it and was very beautiful. I had gotten the soup of the day in a cup and the Veggie sandwich. The veggie sandwich is the bomb.com. The veggie sandwich had a dill cream cheese that just melts in your mouth. My friend got a loaded skillet potato with sausage and my other friend got the soup and half sandwich. We had gotten a strawberry ball dessert that had whipped cream, graham crackers and fresh strawberries. We also got a banana pudding. GREAT i was skeptical about this place at first since it seemed like it was a house-- and it is! BUT this place is very nice! I saw positive reviews on Google so i thought to myself " why not let's try", and I don't regret it ! The staff is super friendly and attentive, the place seems to have several guests not packed which is nice but not empty either so thats nice and spacious! The food is very delicious, tastes very homemade and they even have real BUTTER to go along with your toast, waffles, french toast, etc! Have come here twice and enjoyed each visit. The first time there was a line but we were able to be seated quickly. The second there was no line but we had five people and couldn't squeeze into the four top that was immediately available. We were willing to wait and they were able to put two tables together so we didn't have to wait long. We had a mixture of brunch items from french toast to patty melts and burgers. They were all good. And each time we've visited the desserts were good. Go for their featured dessert -especially if it is the hummingbird cake. The staff was polite and welcoming. They unfortunately don't have a non diary alternatives for their coffee but they were super accommodating with my meal. The sour dough doesn't have diary or egg and they were fine with subbing that in for my veggie sandwich instead of the bread it usually comes in. You've officially left Pasadena once you enter Silver Sycamore grounds. Upon arrival you are transported back in time to a small western town complete with a chapel, Hotel Saloon, tiny homes, picnic area and a quaint cafe. And can't forget the coffeehouse located on the same street, on the opposite side just maybe a house over called Sycamore Grounds. Pine Street Cafe is perfect for a cozy Sunday brunch. It's so peaceful with the gentle piano instrumentals playing and the staff providing excellent customer service. The tables are a little closer than I expected BUT it is a renovated home so it makes sense. If anything once you get used to it, it really adds to the vision for the restaurant. They have a full bar for craft cocktails and a mini mimosa bar for order on the menu for $15, of course that's what we enjoyed. We ordered the Sycamore 2s which includes 2 eggs, 2 bacon/sausage, and 2 pancakes or 1/2 of a waffle. The whole plate was delicious, very surprised! Although I order eggs I typically won't eat them at restaurants because I'm iffy if they are real and they usually come unseasoned. And sometimes adding salt and pepper to already cooked eggs doesn't do enough for me but Pine Street eggs are definitely real lol and very good. It was actually the first portion of the plate I ate almost completely. The waffle was devoured and I'd like to make note of the whip cream. I'm curious to know if it's homemade cause damn. The pancakes were thick and fluffy, super filling. I also added a side order of grits, which I later regretted because those pancakes were no joke. The grits were ehhh okay. I am a sugar grits girl, love em sweet. I added all 80 of my sugar packets in only to realize that they are slightly preseasoned for the savory lovers. If you love savory grits, these are great for you. It was like magic how the grits didn't thicken and clump up after sitting on the table for long. The consistency remained. They have to have a secret ingredient, I assumed it was a splash of white gravy added but I could be wrong lol. After brunch we walked the property a bit just to see what all it had to offer. Very beautiful! I see the vision and how it developed. Arriving to Pine Street Cafe I wasn't sure what to expect but it was more than I could've imagined. I really liked this place. It's always nice when you stumble on a find like this. The restaurant is cozy, with three small dining rooms (that i could see) in an old house. Very clean and tidy and homey decorations. I went there twice in one weekend. Service was good both times. So was the food. On the second visit I had the eggs benedict. Wow. The chicken was just frozen chicken breasts or tenderloins, reheated, and slapped on top of a waffle. I could have done a better job at home. Prices are low, for a reason. I ordered the chicken dumplings. I barely had any chicken in the soup, and just massive amounts of dumplings (bits of flour cooked in the soup). Not much carrots or celery either. I was just eating flour cooked in broth. I couldn't finish it. The owner greeted us and she was very friendly. We were seated and serviced immediately.I was there with two others (who also enjoyed their food - sandwiches). Maybe it's because we went on 4th of July but it was not a pleasant experience. 20+ min wait with no place to wait that had AC. You can walk around the grounds but everything is closed and in this heat it's less than desirable. The waiter took about 10 minutes to ask for drinks. We ordered the tipsy chicken and waffles and the sycamore 2s. The tipsy chicken didn't even come with the syrup it mentioned and the waffle was super dry. The pancakes were very cakey and mushy. So... I will give Pine Street Cafe 4/5 stars. I loved the quaint house feel, and my egg-white omelete was great. The assortment of fruit in their fresh fruit was top tier. My rule for fruit salads is the less honeydew, the better, and there were nary a honeydew in the building. BUT my coworkers give Pine Street Cafe a 2/5 stars, so we're meeting in the middle on this review. The waffle put the "meh" in underwhelming, and we collectively agreed that the sausage was so flavorless, we were all impressed. It took significant effort to extract all taste from sausage like they did, to the point where we considered the alternative that we had all caught the Rona and lost our taste. So as long as you don't order their sausage, you should be golden. read more
