We stopped here for lunch because of all the positive reviews. There's not many restaurants in this city from what I can tell. They have lunch menu and a kids menu. The complimentary chips were nice and crisp. The salsa that comes with it was ok except for the Multiple Hair strands in them. The cheese in their fajita quesadilla was missing completely. For a buck more we got the steak instead of chicken and it was worth it. The Waitress never returned to check on us except when ready to deliver the check. Food was really good and authentic. Never had a cactus leaf as a garnish! The chunky guacamole was good and fresh and almost filled me up, the carne asada was tasty and I even came back and tried the Costillas de Rez Al Carbon which had nice flavors though thinner and greasier than the pics, but they gave me plenty of strips and ended up sucking my fingers. Service was friendly by all the staff and the place was clean. Nothing like a 5-star but we are in Central KY! read more

OMG SOO GOOD! Stopped here while traveling and was so surprised at the quality of the food. I am a salsa snob and this was homemade and amazing. The chips were light and freshly cooked! I ordered carne tacos. The corn tortillas were so authentic like someone's grandma made them. The waitress was so sweet and great at her job. My husband and I went to eat at this restaurant about 3p, a couple of days ago. My previous post said that I wouldn't ever come back here; but when there were very few places open that were somewhat healthy, you have to make a choice. I still agree that the salsa had too much tomato paste in it; but being from Texas, I have much different taste buds than those around me. We were seated quickly because there were only a few other people in the restaurant. Our drinks were brought quickly, and though we said no ice, we did get ice. Now the food came out piping hot. We were thrilled to see that. My husband got the Ribeye Fajitas, and his food has a fantastic flavor. I was actually pleasantly surprised. I got a Ribeye Steak and asked for medium rare. Unfortunately, it was cooked medium well. I ate my steak because I was hungry; but being very chewy and having very little flavor, made me realize I won't get it again. They didn't have oil and vinegar dressing for my salad; but I ate it regardless and the Mexican rice tasted great as well. So I would come back for the ribeye steak. Do wish there were more restaurants around that were healthier to eat at. But I did go from a 2 star 6 years ago to a 3 star. Just makes me think that it's good to give restaurants another try, rather than just writing them off. read more

There are very few places to dine in the center City area, but of those few this is one of the better ones. First, get the guac. It is a chunky, fresh style guac (that the menu says is made table side, but it is not). It has onion, cilantro and seasonings that make it just right! Service is on par! Never was a glass empty. As for the other food, it was the standard Americanized-Mexican that you can get at any town USA. Overall, good place to stop. read more

If you're looking for a restaurant with a wait staff that is paying more attention to a basketball game instead of making sure that the food that you're paying for is correct, this is the place for you. I ordered takeout and absolutely everything in it was wrong. It wasn't even the right menu items. And then when I called back to get what I actually ordered and they acted like they hadn't received the correct order at all and told me it would be 20 more minutes to get my corrected food. Excellent food, good size portions, chips and salsa upon arrival, at our table we had grilled chicken burrito, steak fajitas and the pick two combo, all were huge portions. They only disappointing part was the grilled chicken burrito didn't come with any dressing (guacamole, sour cream etc..) just the burrito on your plate. Cheapest, best meal of our trip. We stopped in to El Bracero in Central City on a trip through the area. We arrived before opening and saw several cars waiting in the parking lot. We had not been there in quite some time but found the quick seating and drink service the same. Our waiter was friendly and efficient. Our food was prepared quickly and brought out steaming hot. Their Shrimp Fajitas are as good as I remembered. Our table also ordered the Speedy Gonzales and the Vegetarian Fajitas which were filled with plenty of items. The sides that come with the fajitas are large and full of fresh toppings to add plus rice and beans. Nice lunch! read more

Stopped here for lunch last week. Chips were okay, salsa was great. Service was fine. I ordered the shredded chicken chimichanga; about 20 minutes after leaving the restaurant spent the rest of the afternoon in and out of the restroom. Oh my holy smokes this food is amazing! I've eaten a lot of Mexican in my life, and this is the third best Mexican food I've ever eaten. (It's hard to compete with Sol Azteca in Birmingham and the place I went to in Monterrey Mexico). There were some things that I could bitch about servicewise. But to be fair we came at 3:30 pm when staff is low. And the food made up for that tenfold. Get the Bracero bowl. read more

Host and hostess not very personable . The waiter was not friendly either . The salsa tasted like marinara sauce but the cheese dip was good and the chips tasted homemade . We wanted a margarita and they were very good , not too much sweet and sour but enough to make it good . Waiter knew his food and it was good ! We stopped for lunch and had a very nice, huge, lunch. I had the Bracero Salad with guacamole instead of dressing. It was very good and big enough for lunch two. My husband had the chicken and spinach enchiladas and enjoyed them. Again, there was enough for us to have split the dish or a lunch. My only complaint is that they served my salad as a separate course instead of at the same time as my husbands meal. Very tasty food. We had a party of 11 and the food came out very prompt. Plenty of seating with sports on several televisions. Everybody at our table seemed to have liked their food. I got the Enchiladas Bang Bang and it was very good. I wasn't the biggest fan of the shredded chicken in the enchiladas, but the bang bang sauce was very good. Tasted like it was made with poblano peppers and I am not sure what else. Not too spicy. Wife had the fajita nachos and they tasted good as well. I liked the grilled chicken in hers and would have preferred that chicken to mine. I tried the cheese dip and it was good too. Not spicy at all though. The salsa was a pleasant surprise for me because it has a nice little bite to it. I like spicy salsa but usually places will go mild to appease the majority. I didn't think it was too spicy, but my wife said it was to her though she still ate some. If I am ever back in Central City for some unbeknownst reason I will eat here again. read more

Was surprised to find such good Mexican food - in Kentucky!! The Restaraunt was very busy, but the atmosphere was almost festive, as if the workers were one big family. Everyone was polite and very accommodating with our special requests. For years my indicator of the quality of a Mexican Restaurant has been the chicken chimichanga. 8 on a scale of 1-10! Very good! The only disappointment is the salsa, which does taste like marinara sauce, as previously reviewed. Being from Texas, we are salsa snobs, so we were bummed that it tasted so tomatoey.
