We have been coming here for years. It's your typical hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. Located in the 7-11 shopping center- parking is tight on the weekends. The menudo is delicious. It's what it's known for. Relatively inexpensive. Hand made corn tortillas and salsas. I've had the gorditas, enchiladas ala plancha and the flautas. I have yet to be disappointed. The staff is very friendly and attentive. If you don't want to eat here- bring your pot and tell them how much menudo you want to go. 100% Mexican food. 7/29/18 back again... it's better than I had rated it!!! New pics. It was ... fine? I firmly believe that some of the best food in the country comes from hole in the wall spots like this, so the relatively lackluster shop next to a 7-11 didn't phase me at all. To the contrary, I had high hopes that it would be great! Unfortunately, it was mediocre at best. The taco was flavorless and it just kind of fell flat. The green sauce on the side was FANTASTIC, but there's only so much sauce can do to invigorate unseasoned meat and a grocery store tortilla. Service was exceedingly slow. It was painful. They forgot my friend's order entirely and people who ordered long after her were served before her. Then they tried to cover by saying that they ran out of the tamales she ordered ... while serving up other people's tamales. I don't think I would return. I came in here about 3 weeks ago & ordered their green enchiladas combo plate. Well, for starters the cook in the kitchen grabbed red ones from an under fridge & as he was walking to the microwave the lady in the front yelled out "she ordered green ones." I heard him say "it's the same thing." I was kinda hoping he was joking but NO! as soon as she handed me my plate it looked like he just poured green sauce on top of RED enchiladas. This lady clearly knew i had ordered green. I should've asked her to remake them but i just couldn't believe that the cook didn't care and she still thought it was ok. I tried to not be rude & i had a bite & they tasted awful! Old & the tortilla was hard! I'm very disappointed, they were just so careless! I will never come here again!!!! read more

Perfect spot for good Mexican food and like other Yelpers suggest do not let the area or exterior fool you. Very clean and friendly service, I like to call ahead and pick up my food since I live nearby. I had the chilaquiles with an over easy egg in top other than the sour cream melting and becoming watery I must say it was very very good and spicy . Side of beans and rice perfect portions, my tummy was happy My husband and son love picking up menudo on Sunday's, I'm not a fan in general of menudo but I have tried a spoonful and it is tasty, the tripe is cut into small bite size pieces and tender. Comes with all the fixings on the side. Sopes are my favorite here with their guacamole, I get full off one. So if you're looking for a nice spot for food to go or wanna stop by for a quick bite and in the area I suggest trying this place out! read more

I highly recommend it. I've been going here since 1995 and I believe the same family has owned it since. I grew up playing baseball with a kid we called Burrito who's family owns the joint. good kid, good family. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY! The food is astounding. It has never declined in flavor or quality since the mid 90's and although in recent years they've gone through somewhat of a cosmetic make over that I think looks tacky and takes away from the authentic feel of the place. Love, love, LOVE this place. Caldo de pollo is my jam and pozole on the weekends. I'm never disappointed when I leave here. Sit in or para llavar, I'm always happy. Love the caldo de pollo. Hungover, caldo. Sick, caldo. Man actin' up, CALDO! The ladies here are always so pleasant, and even tho my Spanish sucks, they still get me. Let me be frank here. If you're looking for a Micheline star restaurant, this ain't it. But, if you're looking for authentic, warm your guts, Mexican comfort food, THIS place is the TRUTH!!! Thanks to a recommendation by my cousin, our craving for Menudo was MORE than sated by this little hole in the wall. The soup was better than I expected (& I expect a lot) and the Gordita De Asada appetizer was outstanding as well. Hand made tortillas didn't hurt, either. My husband and I found this place out of pure coincidence. We are so glad we did. When we walked in the first thing I noticed is how clean the establishment was. I am very picky of where I eat. If it looks dirty I walk away. The gentleman that took our order was very nice and professional. Great customer service. The food was outstanding. I am new to the area (but Cali born and raised) and was in search of authentic enchiladas like Mom's. Of course, I went for yelp. I arrived at El Burrito Loco and didn't even get a chance to try anything because the clerk at the counter had terrible customer service! Enough to make me turn around and walk right out of that door. This is what happened, I asked what kind of enchiladas they served, she snickered and said chicken or cheese. I responded that's all and then she practically laughed and said well what kind are you used to? I said green enchiladas, shredded beef enchiladas, ground beef and cheese enchiladas and said no thanks; I'll look elsewhere. Very disappointed in attitude. El Burrito Loco is a nice compromise between a clean, corporate chain restaurant and an authentic hole-in-the-wall. From outside, the stickers declaring the menu items and the iron barred screen door and the corny name lead you to believe it's a one-of-a-kind, but upon entering, I noticed that each table has a cactus painted on it and each cactus is of uniform size. The interior is painted with rich, complementary colors. The menu is up high on the wall and printed in full-color with photos (not taken on plates on the floor) on glossy film. The prices are a little higher than the $3-$4 places I've been visiting lately so I ordered a El Loco Burrito with barbacoa in Chico size instead of Grande for $4.29 instead of $5.29. I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived with chips and two bottles of salsa because it was the same size as a regular burrito at TDM et al. There was lettuce, sour cream, rice, beans, cheese and tomatoes in the burrito along with flavorful barbacoa. Three stars up. read more
