The scenery is very beautiful. You'll come across a beautiful meadow with loads of flowers. Once you reach the campsite, they're marked so you know where to go. Each site has a picnics table and is pretty decent in size. It wasn't that busy when we walked by but when it's full, it's very lively. Theres the restroom situation not far from sites. From what we've seen, it's actually pretty nice. Place is clean which is a plus. It's near loads of trail which is also a plus. Also, it's camping so take what you brought with you back. Keep nature clean as it should be.

We took the Tumamait trail to the weather station at the Mount Pinos summit and picnicked at the top by the Iwhihinmu plaque. After returning to the first fork in the trail, we then hiked to the meadow and back. Altogether, this was a full day of beautiful hiking. The crisp mountain air, pine trees, high elevation buckwheat and lichen meadows, and views were all fantastic. As other reviewers have said, the hikes aren't intensely strenuous, but they can be long if you want them to be. Both Tumamait and the meadow paths are partially shaded with sunny patches. Going to the meadow, most of the hike is a small downhill slope, so keep in mind it will be mildly strenuous coming back up. For hiking, my friend and I did not have a parking pass nor could we find a place to buy one at the Nordic Station parking lot (the drive up the mountain to the lot is lovely, by the way!) We were slightly concerned, but nothing happened. No ticket, no ranger presence. Our visit was in late April, 2022. Spending time in this powerful Chumash site was wonderful. We stayed on the mountain peak for at least an hour feeling the wind whip our faces, enjoying our picnic and the views, looking at the trees and plants and snow, and enjoying being at the "top of the world." There weren't many people around, and we said hello to everyone we passed. It felt convivial and isolated at the same time. A pretty cool combination.

How have I never been here before…read more... Sunday with no plans on the book. Let's take a drive to Frazier Park and go hiking. Same with that, never been to this little town as well. It's literally off the 5 freeway a couple miles in and you at the town. It was about half hour or 45 minutes drive up the mountain from the freeway till where the mountain start. There's different sections that you could go to if you wanted to hike or camp. We didn't really know where and what trails there was. Just ended up at of the campsite parking lot and went from there. There's loads of trails to choose from. Theres sign at the base that'll tell you the levels of hike and the distance. Also, the path was pretty wide on the one we were at which was nice. Right when you get out of the car, you could already smell the difference in air quality. Mountain air, being in nature with all the beautiful trees and noise of the birds. This place was beautiful. The path was nice to walk, slightly uphill and not hard. We passed loads of people but it still felt very quiet as you're in the woods. There's still loads of wildflowers growing. Temperature wise, it was perfect as your at a higher elevation and there was also nice breeze. Just walking and seeing all the beautiful trees, some covered in moss. The chipmunks running past you along the paths, it's a completely different experience from the hustle and bustle of the city. The views were amazing. When you get to the lookout point where the tower is, there was two tins/cans along the rocks that you could leave a message. Notebook and pen was provided for signing. This particular trail wasn't hard even though it said it was but very manageable. About 2 miles each way. But the views along and at the top of the lookout was spectacular. It's amazing that an hour or so from the city, there's so many hidden gems. Nature is beautiful if you haven't noticed. And another place for hiking on our lists.

We love the quietness and solitude you find here. The trees and winds make this beautiful sound. I honestly think this place is sacred. We have camped at McGill Campground and have hiked up to Mt. Pinos. Only about an hour drive from Los Angeles/Santa Clarita. The forest does get snow fall and I think we just had the first big dump of snowfall last night.

I'm from Kentucky originally so I've seen this before and was OK driving on these sorts of "roads"... but a lot of people aren't. * Bathrooms for guests are porta-potties. * Nearest hotel options are about a 20-minute drive away. * It's entirely outdoors. The indoor space is only for the bridal party to get ready and for the catering (which I believe you have to arrange yourself). Again, if that's what you're looking for - this can be very pretty. My friends had a fantastic wedding and the staff at the venue was remarkably friendly and did a great job. There was a small dance floor, an elevated area for dinner seating and an area for the bar. Coming from LA for the event, it is a commitment and a bit of a driving challenge, so know that going in.

There is alot of parking spaces here at this location which was awesome, as alot of other places i looked into were trying to include a valet service in their fee.:( They have a patio area next to their building and we used both for the casino tables and games. The decor was awesome, they really know how to make everything look fancy and stand out. Got nothing but rave reviews from my guests, and everyone loved how spacious and roomy the area was. Both Denise and Tamara worked with us to make our event a success and they kept in touch the whole way thru. Denise even helped get me a jumpy house for the kids at the last min which saved the day for us to keep the kiddos entertained. The first time we met Jamie was for our walk through in July and we certainly notified him of our walk through time. He failed to check his emails. If Ben was fired due to unprofessionalism, why did you tell my coordinator that all brides would hire him directly? I'll post that screenshot below. He must not have been that bad if you were willing to reinstate him in future packages. If your package doesn't include a coordinator then don't include it on your website. Simple. Besides all of this, we're also now finding out Jamie scheduled 2 couples to do their food tasting on our wedding day, but told the caterer he only scheduled one. When the second couple arrived, they were given a portion of OUR extra food. You guys never confirmed this with us. So not only were strangers at our wedding, you gave them our food, which according to Jamie, is customary for your venue. We've also been made aware that Jamie's real name is Tim, so for every time we thought we were communicating with you, we communicated with Jamie the ENTIRE time. I did not post a review until now because with the type of business you run, I was concerned if we left a bad review we would not get our security deposit back, as you tried to do to another bride. It's a shame that you have such a beautiful venue, because an owner like you that fails to take accountability ruins it. Hopefully whoever decides to buy it in the future will run it better. If, according to you, the brides happiness is first priority, then you've done an absolutely horrible job at showing it! I'll make sure to respect this in my other reviews as well. I've been to this place a few times (with dogs and without) and have always found their wine and…read moreservice to be mediocre with strong notes of pretentiousness depending on who is pouring (some of their staff have been great). But they are one of very few wineries in our area, they have beautiful grounds, and a few of their events (where they also offer beer) have had us return for a visit; so we have always made it a point to try and stop here and introduce our friends to local offerings while supporting local business. One thing to know: their dog policy is not very transparent. When you arrive, there is a sign by the tasting room door letting you know dogs are welcome but must remain on the patio, as is the case with most dog friendly wineries. But apparently there is also a waiver of liability you have to sign as well. I get it, people have to protect their livelihoods and assets. But this was a new development for us as we had been there before and not signed any waivers. Still, no big deal. We arrived yesterday and intended to sit outside. I have two dogs in training (one puppy) and we were looking for a place to seat our group. When I have dogs in training, they don't go out to local establishments until they are at a point where they just need a little fine-tuning with obedience. We always try to seat ourselves strategically to allow as much of a buffer between our dogs and stimuli in the environment. They are not aggressive by any means but thats how I do it as a courtesy for others. Just because a winery is dog friendly, doesn't mean all of its customers are. Yesterday, we had a pretty large group and we were the first to arrive. We had intended to sit in the garden area but all of the tables and chairs were dirty and covered in spider webs. The tasting room itself was dark and empty so we finally found the action in the courtyard area where there were only 2 other customers seated (it was right at the opening of business, to be fair). As we sighted a suitable table, a lady approached us with a cup of water. My puppy, assuming she had a treat for him, stood himself up (not to be confused with an aggressive jump) to sniff out what treasure she might be bringing forth. He was at the end of his lead and he quickly settled back down when corrected but I acknowledge I didn't catch him in time so she had to pause in her approach. She had a pretty solid meltdown about it and started yammering on about how "unacceptable!" his behavior was and how she needed us to sign a form for her attorney. I would have signed a form no problem. And I 100% own the fact that my dog should have been able to completely ignore her. But I don't appreciate being approached in that tone. Nothing about him is aggressive and he settles pretty quickly once we are seated. I ultimately surmised that while this place will ACCOMMODATE dogs, they are not dog friendly; which I 100% respect. I don't expect everyone to appreciate dogs as much as we do and his behavior has never triggered such a response anywhere else he has been. I just chalked it up to the fact that some people are truly not comfortable around mid size dogs and it isn't worth the stress to drop our coin at an establishment where no one felt comfortable. If this lady was so hung up on liability, I am not trying to put MYSELF in a position to get sued for emotional distress by this lady. As we walked away she CONTINUED to take her argument to a coworker who appeared equally confused about the waiver, and her response to the situation. In short: their wines are worth trying once and worth sipping if you aren't too snobby. Their grounds, like most wineries, are beautiful. Service leaves a bit to be desired in the organiztion and approachability department. Leave your dog at home for the best experience. And if you do have to take your dogs, be mindful of Cruella Deville. While his behavior is 100% my responsibility, it was a ridiculous spectacle. In the end, we moved on to Triassic and Tehachapi Wine and Cattle Co where we, and the dogs, had a full day of stellar experiences. And everyone lived happily ever after.
