This is a far out drive, up in the mountains of Puerto Rico but it is worth it. This restaurant is…read moreknown for their pastel al caldero -- a remix of the classic Puerto Rican dish pastel en hoja. And although I've never been a fan of pastel en hoja this one was delicious. The picadera consisted of tostones, bolitas de yuca, fried chicken, longaniza (blood sausage), and shredded pernil (pork). We also tried some pastelillos. Honestly everything was so good we left stuffed! The service was amazing even after the crowds started arriving and it got busier. Our server Gaby was great! Because it's up in the mountains, parking is limited and once it starts getting crowded it can be hard to find parking and seating in the restaurant. I recommend getting there no later than 1pm or 2pm right when they open. Trust by 3:30 it's already super packed. The mountain views and crisp air was so amazing and a refreshing change of scenery from the beaches and city life of San Juan. If you have some free time, I'd def recommend adding to your itinerary.

One of the best things we had here were the pastels. Anthony Bourdai was right. Try the beef one with cheese especially. The pastry dough tasted great as well as the fillings. We also tried the pasteles soup in a hot tin cup--which was pretty popular. It tasted interesting. Tostones were good. The pernil was a bit dry for my taste. Drinks here are good and cheap. Waiters were attentive. Expect to have snacks, a few drinks, and enjoy the view if you visit this place. This is not a place to have meals. It's one of the kind experience. I'm happy I visited.

One room, the main area had salsa, dancing, and music and eventually at 9:30 PM a live salsa band came on. That was a whole lot of fun however it was very crowded. The second room had a nice house music going on. There was a bar and a DJ and it was not as busy as the main area was. And the third room was the bar that leads to the outside called La Cubanita, which was playing mellow lounge music with a tropical beat. The food at La Factoria was definitely overrated and just OK. I did not think it was worth the price and I probably would not eat there again. None of us really liked what we ordered, but we ate it because well... We were hungry. They do offer a wide range of beverages from your standard beer, wine, and top shelf brands, however, they are known for their own concoctions. All of the drinks we ordered were delicious. Overall, we had fun, and it was not too pricey for the beverages. I don't think that I would ever go again, especially not later in the week as it is so busy, and we went on a Monday and we were dancing cheek to cheek!!! Enjoy!

Yet our drinks came like 45 minutes after we order. My coffee cane with no sugar. I asked the waitress for some sugar but she never came. We waited for over an hour for sugar. We were sitting outside and the waitress offered some candlelight; that also never came. I saw her looking at us while she was serving other customers. We were in street attire and maybe she thought we could not afford to eat there. We left and pay the account and left. The waitress did not showed her face. Please hire competent people or hire more people so they will have the time to give good customer service! Second the prices were outrageous. I paid $6 for a black coffee. Got there for the view! The service is not good!
