We ordered the petit pre fixe lunch set €23 pp. - choice of 1 starter each, 1 main, 1 dessert. We got grilled prawns and shrimp/pineapple salad for the starters. The grilled prawns were fresh (very easy to peel and soft edible shell) garlicky tender and delicious. The salad perfectly balanced the buttery prawns & was very tasty (even my picky daughter liked it). The main we chose was paella (2 people Minimum) which is why this place was recommended to us. It was THE best we've had and the best main dish on our vacation (Brighton, UK, Madrid, & Barcelona). Dessert was caramel millefeuille and brownie with ice cream. We also ordered two glasses of fresh squeezed orange juice - and YES it is FRESH. Bottled water is opened table side rather than in preopened repurposed bottles. Although I would have wanted them to stop by and serve our water once like they did for the adjacent table (hence the reason for dropping the review to 4. Highly recommend this restaurant for food () and pretty good service + 1/2. I would have given this place a solid 4 stars but the wait staff (wearing stripes) stated three times that "tip (was) not included" when he brought the check. This ruined the service experience for me. I would have willingly tipped but instead felt forced. Went here based on a recommendation from the hotel concierge and it was amazing!! House white wine was crisp and a large pour. The olives as an app turned me into an olive lover. The black rice croquettes were crispy and had a really nice texture. The tomato with bread had a delicious olive oil and perfectly baked crust. We split the fedeau(basically a seafood paella but with noodles). It was large enough for two people to split and the cuddle fish in it was so fresh. My friend and I were traveling in Barcelona on students' budgets, and we wanted to have one nice seafood dinner in Port Olímpico. After reading many reviews on Yelp, I went with El Cangrejo Loco and it was the right choice! January is obviously off-season, and many of the restaurants along the Port were close to empty, if not so. Outside every restaurant stood an eager worker trying to beckon us in, which is annoying but typical in the touristy parts of Barcelona as we learned. It was tough to avoid these pushy people as we made our way down to El Cangrejo, which is the very last restaurant in line. There was no one standing outside to try and lure us in and we took this as a good sign. The hostess sat and brought us menus, and though I had to ask for the "Menu My Way", she brought it to us (They had English menus, hooray!) There were no hard feelings when we wanted to split it, which is great because it was both plenty of food, and actually affordable for us this way. First came the olives and tomato tostado. These were both very tasty, but we were just getting started. We chose the mile-feuilles of smoked salmon and tramezzini bread, which was gorgeous in presentation and equally tasty, especially the roe-type cream that came with it. Next came our hot appetizer, the seafood croquettes. These were TO DIE FOR. I seriously would have been happy to eat a dozen of these golden brown, perfectly fried balls of creamy crab heaven. Then came the paella parellada. This was our first paella in Barcelona and it was amazing. A perfect amount for two people, it was bite after bite of chewy paella nirvana (even to my limited knowledge of the dish). It contained a few different types of shell-free seafood, though the shrimp was a standout. Finally, the hostess recommended for us to try the Catalan custard cream, which is like creme brûlée. I usually don't go for custard type things, but this was so light and fluffy and flavorful that I devoured my half instantly. The bill was 25,50 (pre-wine) as promised. My friend and I both left full and satisfied, and El Cangrejo Loco was definitely a highlight of our trip. read more

What a wonderful location, the restaurant is waterfront view. Service was spectacular and the food we had was "okay." But, it may have just been what we ordered because neighboring tables had tasty looking dishes. We had our dinner with a tour group so it was set menu. I would return if in the area. read more

The beach view is the best thing about this restaurant. The food is average (and overpriced) but the view made it worth it. It also shines in comparison with the other places nearby. Service is like a fancy restaurant. The sangria is served in a carafe after the waiter let you taste it (as if it were a fine wine). Unfortunately, we were given a fake 20 € bill as change. We were looking for the best paella but this restaurant was a big big disapointment . We ordered the paella with lobster and told that it came with shrimp and we could have it with no shells. What we got is hard to describe because it was the ultimate rip off and disapointment. There were no shrimp and the only lobster a tiny claw in the Shell and a tiny body of some type of cray fish. This restaurant was recommended by a tour guide when we asked for a place with good seafood. This place was one of the best dining experiences we had in Barcelona. We came for lunch and the restaurant was pretty empty so there was no wait for a table. I felt the seafood and drinks were top-notch. We MUST have gone to the wrong restaurant. My boyfriend and I were staying at the Arts Hotel and always asked the concierge which restaurants to check out. They usually do a great job with the suggestions, but... this HAD to be a mistake. We ordered toasted bread with a tomato spread (literally what it), steak, and vegetable paella. The steak was incredibly chewy and bland. The paella was good but VERY oily!!! The only redeeming aspect about our meal was that they served ginger ale. I would never eat here. Our hotel recommended we go here for lunch. We entered through the 10% full patio area and into the mostly full indoor restaurant. After a few minutes the hostess arrived and we asked for a table for three. She asked us to wait. She then got on her cell phone for a brief chat and went to the back of the restaurant. After about 5 minutes she returned. I asked how long the wait would be. She informed us that we could not wait. Without giving us a reason she asked us to leave. I have never been treated so terribly by a restaurant. We were well dressed and just a normal mom and dad with their teenage daughter. It was 9 hours before the restaurant closed and they had seating outdoors. We were quite willing to wait for an indoor table but we were never offered this option. Went to this place back in 2011 and just happened to find it again in 2017 when back in Barcelona. We mentioned that it was our second visit to the restaurant and the sitter brought us two proseccos gratis! Then we order a Hendricks gin and tonic. Superb. Starters and included Octopus con potatas, excelente! Crab salad, super fresh. Tomate bread, por qué no? And view of the Mediterranean Sea was exquisite (pretty much all indoor seats are window seats not a bad view in the house) for entreé order half portion of monkfish stew with potatoes and wow it was divine. The first time we were attracted to the restaurant, as it had a nice breeze coming from the sea and stood out from the other choices! We were truly satisfied with the sea food dishes. We took a metro to this side of town and had a fabulous afternoon outside on the beach! This restaurant is beautiful and in a great location to sit outside and enjoy the view and the sun. We split a traditional seafood paella which was more than enough for two people, delicious, and was full of fresh seafood. The service was wonderful and very attentive to our needs while we were there. We really enjoyed our time here and will be back! read more
