Came down for a work trip and this place was highly recommended. From the moment I walked in, I felt right at home. They were out of the G.O.A.T. when I arrived, but when I asked about it, they didn't hesitate for a second. They told me, "We'll make it for you - just give us 20 minutes." It was absolutely worth the wait. The G.O.A.T. was amazing, and the guava and cheese empanada was freshly made and just as incredible. Best lunch spot in Albany! It's fast, tasty, quality, and has a wide-variety of good options. The standard lunch meal is a protein and a carb-- I recommend the pulled pork as a protein. Meanwhile they also have many Empanada options, which were not as efficient to heat-up, so it delayed my order. They were, however, tasty! The service wasn't great. The food was half decent at most not to be critical, but I am from the Caribbean and I know the taste flavor no beans the rice was old. They took chicken that was already cooked and then they fried it. The experience was not the greatest Won't recommend it and not probably going back and if it's Caribbean place, please have people from the island there, it is our signature, which is our hospitality, lovely and smiling personality. read more

El Caribe is a jewel! The service was exceptional for a counter service place. They let me try half roasted and half stewed pork. They were both good but I think the stewed was a bit better. The rice and beans were spot on and the plantains were good as well. My wife got the Cuban sandwich (which I sampled!) and honestly, the only one I have had better than theirs was in Ft. Lauderdale. The food is ready if you order from the line, but if they cook in the back it still is out fairly quickly. This is a fun hole in the wall place. They are my favorite kind. It's small but clean and has a great Caribbean vibe. I will go back!!! read more

Absolutely love this place and I'm so glad there's a Dominican restaurant here, just what Albany needs, some SAZON!!! Everything is cooked to perfect. Their tres leches cake is bomb as heck. All the employees are super sweet and attentive. Being in the restaurant makes me miss DR but it's literally the closest thing to it out here, in Georgia in general. I love this place! The food is DELICIOUS!! They have so many great dishes. If I want something quick, I love to have some Empanadas. They have lots of different fillings. The stewed pork is my favorite plate with rice. I also love to get the mofongo with pork. It takes a little longer for them to cook it, but it's worth the wait!! So glad I found this spot! I was driving around Albany and drove past this restaurant and having just recently visited Puerto Rico, I was so excited to find a place offering Caribbean food! I wanted to try their mofongo, but they ran out of plantains and only had the fried sweet ones left as a side. I ended up ordering the pork stew over arroz con habichuelas and it was delicious! The stew was soooo good over the rice and as a side I had the fried sweet plantains. I also had the Cubana and chicken and cheese empanadas, which were very tasty (even cold, because I ended up taking them home as a snack for later). I was overlooked initially, the male behind me had to signify I was next. My portions were observable smaller than the gentleman ahead of me. We would pay the same price. We found this place by chance searching ethnic cuisines between Columbus and Valdosta. The restaurant is small, but spotless. The employees were incredibly friendly, even offering samples for us to try before we chose our meal. We each picked a type of pork, the rice of the day, chocolate Tres Leche cake, and shared plantains. The portions were huge, and I couldn't even finish a small order. The food was absolutely amazing! Perfect temperature, perfect seasoning, perfect texture. The cake was rich and light. I would drive the 2 1/2 hours just to eat there again and then drive back.
