The place smells good as soon as you step in through those doors. The bread always looks appetizing through the glass displays as well as their hot meals. The pupusas here are actually really good! Be sure to ask for some of their salsa and purtido that gives it that extra kick. I personally come in to buy their sweet bread because it is made fresh daily and not expensive. I'm giving them a three star rating only because the horchata cake was extremely dry. The frosting and cream between the layers was okay not the greatest the the frosting was very waxy. We live only about a mile away from El Carrusel and get takeout from there on a regular basis. I'm seeing some irregular reviews listed here so I must chip in my 2 cents since I'm one opinionated lady. ;) Overall, we really like this place. I've eaten many a pupusa in my day and this spot is consistently good. Now, you have to understand this is a tiny little place and it ain't no sit-down restaurant, so sometimes it gets busy. Yes, the parking sucks (which really isn't their fault- it's a strip mall on a really busy street, people). If I go there and order a loroco pupusa and I see them grabbing something that's clearly been sitting for a while I know to ask if I can get some fresh made (which they will if they're not too busy). The plaintains are consistently good. The various refrescos (jamaica, horchata, etc) are kind of sweet for my taste but my hubby loves them. And best of all, this place is CHEAP. As in, I get enough for dinner that night and lunch the next day for two people and it's like $20, tops. I mean, c'mon. If you speak a little Spanish that doesn't hurt either. But even if you're a super white girl like me everyone is very, very nice at El Carrusel. I would say the only thing I generally don't get there is the revueltas pupusa, since on a few occasions it's had an odd burned taste to it. But I suck down the loroco, bean and cheese, and pork pupusas on a regular basis, and if you want something decadent try the plantain cream thingie- mmmm. :) read more

They were at best mediocre. I ordered a bunch of stuff because you get hungry waiting in the line that takes just too long just to place and order. Snuck out of work to get a car wash and decided to look for a place to quiet the stomach rumblin' while at it. I saw El Carrusel Bakery and was hoping they had some of those pink mexican pastries. Whether or not they did i don't remember because I ended up ordering a bunch of pupusas because i liked how they sounded. Turns out I like how they taste as well. A pupusa in an asian guys point of view is pretty much a puffed up tortilla with fillings (meat, beans, cheese, etc.) inside kind of like a flattened dumpling. On top you put fermented cabbage and veggies kind of like kim chi and then they give you a bag of tomato sauce to drizzle over it. I also ordered this sweet fruit concoction to wash the food down. Okay so this place has very good pupusas. The only thing I didn't like that I ordered through the phone and they still made me wait another 20 mins for my order when I got there. Parking is horrible so be aware of that. The inside is not very big so your better off just picking up and take it to go like most people did when I was there. I had a craving for pupusas today and so did my mom. A friend of mine had told me about this place so we decided to try it. We only had pupusas, fried plantains, and chocolate croissants. The pupusas were freshly made and divine, good filling to masa ratio, the curtido and tomato sauce were good too. The plantains didn't taste old or greasy like many other places, and the croissants were fresh and not too sweet. It was also super cheap, 24.99 for a dozen decent size pupusas, two big chocolate croissants and an order of fried plantains. We called ahead and the order was done in the time they said it would be. This place came up on a random Salvadorian restaurant between my friends and I. I have never had Salvadorian food before so I figured I would give it a try, and I'm glad I did. Their Papusas are so good! The parking lot is a bit of an issue but if you can find a spot, grab it. My only upset is I'm white with very poor Spanish, let's just say if my friends didn't speak Spanish we would be out of luck. Love this place when I want a quick pupusa. Even Though they are pre-made the volume of food that they serve makes it likely your pupusa wasn't made too long ago. They serve typical Central American breakfast items, and hace a decent variety of baked sweet breads. If you've never had pastelitos, try one you won't regret it! Only one small complaint; parking is a pain if you come in the late afternoon or evenings. But if you can find parking it's worth it. Looks like they updated the decor and that gives the place more of a small cafe feel which is nice. Horchata is always great here too! read more

My platanos were perfectly cooked, my eggs were yummy, and beans were nice and tasty! I also got 4 pupusas revuelta for later! The horchata was the best I've had at an establishment and you can tell its home made. The place is clean and the bakery is big filled with cookies and panes! This is our go-to pupusa and Central American breakfast place. We haven't tried all of their breakfast items but we love the breakfast plate that comes with fried plantains, beans and rice (casamiento), cheese, cream and eggs ( scrambled or sunny side) with French bread. They have a variety of pupusas but the less common ones you have to wait for them to be made and takes about 10-15 min. The aguas frescas change but they almost always have the Salvadorean horchata (I prefer it to the Mexican one) and the ensalada (fresh fruit mix sweet punch). All the ladies are really nice. I always call ahead when I have a big order or want specialty pupusas. They have tons of sweet bread (they are a bakery) but I haven't tried any. read more

Got food from the Arleta location and the food is delicious and mouthwatering. Bought 4 pupusas, 2 Chicken Pastelitos, an Horchata, and a slice of strawberry 3 Milks/leches cake and I'm speechless. The food is legit to say the least. Great flavor, very good size/portions and great prices. I had seen pictures of the Reseda location and the food looked great, but it tastes even better. Found my new pupusas spot and let me mention that their customer service is awesome too. Very attentive and professional.
