We went to El Cerro and were pleasantly surprised when we walked in. It looked so nice. Then, the live music started and was so loud that we almost left. There were only two servers and ours was stretched to the max. We are pretty patient, but it became evident that we weren't going to get served well. The food was mediocre at best. The taco salad had steak that tasted like it had been frozen. The Steak fajitas were bland and the steak tasted freezer burnt. My husband and I had dinner here while on vacation at Myrtle Beach. The restaurant was absolutely beautiful. There were large booths that were set apart in these tulip-like cocoons. We ate at a booth in the beautiful bar area that looks like one from a cruise ship. Reuben was our server. He was efficient and very attentive. I had a mojito and was delighted to find it was happy hour. My drink was delicious. My husband had steak tacos, and enchiladas with salsa verde. Don't get me wrong the place looks nice and It has live music . But hear me out i've tried lots of mexican places in and out of the state. I get that they are near the broadway. But their food is no bueno. Also very small proportions and almost all plates are 20 dollars. limited options to choose from, I got the carne asada and my boyfriend got choripollo. Stopped here after a morning at the aquarium. Was craving nachos, so my father and I sat down for a quick bite. They wanted $28 for nachos so we decided to try the $14 lunch specials. Great idea, I had a stuffed poblano with chicken and a beef taco. Came with a nice tiny salad with guac. The chicken had such good flavor. The pricing was wonky so I dropped a star. Didn't know el cero was a Mexican restaurant and a night club at the same time. communication with the staff was lackluster and the DJ was horrible. Lame song choices and just poor mixing. Absolutely the worst Mexican food I've ever eaten by far. This place would need to improve drastically to achieve mediocre. Salsa tastes like out of the jar spaghetti sauce. The restaurant is very large and the theming is super cool. The best part has to be the flower booths for larger parties. We had such an odd experience here. Our bachelor group of five was staying across the way and it happened to be Cinco de Mayo so we came here for lunch. I had been to other locations, but it turns out this one is different. Instead of casual tex-mex, they're a little fancier and the place has a vibe like it turns into a nightclub in the evening. The menu was also a little elevated similar to Abuelos by the mall. Being that it was Cinco, I figured there would be a bit of a party going on, but it was pretty dead. It was during the week, but that usually doesn't stop people. The server was nice at first but seemed annoyed about the whole process as lunch went on until he pretty much abandoned the table. A few people got quesadillas and we all had different presentations on our plate. Also, the quesadilla was not cut into pieces which I've never seen anywhere. We had to keep asking for things like silverware and refills. We were ready to stick around and have some drinks for a bit, but he just came and dropped the cheques and took off so they didn't seem interested in us staying. Portion size and quality did not meet the price as it was almost $20 for 2 small chimichangas and some rice. For the Texana fajitas, while the food was plentiful the meat had little to no flavor. The plate was piled high with tons of peppers and onions... that's cool and all but way too much peppers and onions. I was pretty disappointed. Service could've been better. We came with a group of 7 and patiently waited 45 mins -1 hour to get seated. Once we were in the restaurant, our server took our order and we were waiting an additional hour in the restaurant for our food. On top of that, it was disappointing when finally ate our food and discovered that all the dishes were unseasoned. The dishes lacked flavor. If the food was flavorful we would've at least put aside the wait time. We all did not finish our food and did not even want to take home to-go. Found this restaurant, driving around as in the mood for Mexican food, and it was truly impressive. It's a large restaurant with a dining area as well as a huge bar area. We sat in the bar area where there were numerous TVs and good music playing. It's got a contemporary atmosphere, and at night becomes a club where there is dancing or karaoke. The food was truly authentic and very generous. The margaritas were top notch. Fairly priced and great tasting. Seban was a great bartender and server.
