Server was nice, but did not understand enough English to bring my soda with "no ice" as requested two times. As well, my mom asked for unsweetened tea and twice got it with sugar. My California burrito was ok-the fries inside were soggy and the seasoning just left something to be desired. Covering it in queso would have helped. The rice and beans were pretty good, but the main problem both of us had is that the food was cold. We cannot understand why as the cook was in an open kitchen 6 feet from us and we watched him working hard and cooking the whole time. My mom stated that the enchiladas were okay, nothing special. She did not like that the different ones of chicken, beef, and cheese were covered all in the same sauce. The chips and salsa were good-fresh, crisp chips and two kinds of salsa. If it hadn't of been for the light blue pick up truck in my community that had jalapeños all over it and the name Chile Frito my wife and I would have never known this excellent Mexican restaurant existed. At first we didn't know what it was advertising then we decided to look it up after seeing the truck parked next to our car. It turns out it is a Mexican restaurant so we decided we were going to try it out the next day for dinner. Chile Frito is in a small shopping center it's not a very big restaurant. We went in and were greeted by the owner, he was very nice. I mentioned to him that we had seen the blue with jalapeños all over and looked up the name to see what it was. Excellent advertising. I had 3 taco beef chicken and a pork with rice and beans wife had a chicken meal with caso cheese and r and b. My favorite taco was the pork it had a little pineapple in it it was excellent very tasty and moist the beef and chicken were good but that pork was amazing I would surely order again. Wife's meal she said was good also. Oh this is good food. Ask for extra tortillas for your taco or ask for flour tortillas. read more

We just left and it was amazing! The staff was so sweet and friendly. I get enchiladas everywhere I go and I always say they always taste the same everywhere. The food was freshly cooked and was great tasting with ample serving sizes. The shredded chicken chimichanga was piping hot and delicious, complimented with refried beens and Mexican rice. The shredded pork burrito was delicious much enjoyed by my wife. Loved the homemade queso with the tortilla chips and the sauces were authentic and delicious. The service was superb and they made us feel welcome and right at home the minute we stepped in the door and were seated. Our waitress was super nice and had the most beautiful smile. Went there last Friday around 5pm. Gabriel greeted us and brought us directly to our table. Chips and 3 different salsas were brought to our table by Ana. We ordered our drinks and also some fresh guacamole. The service was excellent, and Gabriel had brought our drinks right away. I had the large margarita. I had 2 of those bad boys. It's nice to see a manager jump right in to help expedite service. Gabriel also brought a nice chocolate (I believe so) shot, which was very good. I ordered the skirt steak with rice & beans. My wife ordered the enchiladas, which she enjoyed very much. My steak was excellent on top of a bed of sautéed onions. This is my first time that my steak was still hot throughout my meal, and I am a slow eater. My compliments to the chef and the entire staff. Great team, Gabriel. The Grand Strand is fortunate to have many good Mexican restaurants. Chile Frito is our absolute favorite it's fairly small but comfortable, clean, and colorful. The service is exceptional--warm and friendly, knowledgable and helpful, attentive without being overbearing. The chile relleno was delicious. The choripollo was very flavorful and well balanced. Small place at the end of a shopping plaza. Food was quite authentic and good! Never got to the menudo but I'll be back. Wife's shredded beef quesadillas were excellent. My garlic flounder was amazing with white Mexican rice and black beans. Lots of different margaritas to choose from. Lots of the locals are regulars. read more

A nice local Mexican option right near the Food Lion in Carolina Forest. Friendly service and seems more authentic to me than most Mexican restaurants in the area (I tried the Chile Rellenos which is my taste-tester first time at a new Mexican restaurant). Saw good reviews of this place and gave it a try. Sadly disappointed. Service was okay though did have to ask for more chips several times before we got a refill. The first basket was half full. Food seasoning was minimal. Steak in burrito had lots of gristle. Yuk. Menu says the burrito is 10". Well if it was it was folded to about 5". Very small. Refried beans and rice - tasteless. These reviews are misleading. Here's the honest truth. The food is very mediocre. There isn't an amazing authentic Mexican flavor. The service was also very mediocre. Ambiance is cozy and inviting. Doesn't look like much on the outside, but don't let that fool you. My wife and I were on a week long stay in central Myrtle Beach. I meticulously look thru reviews to make sure I'm going to a good place. This place stood out above the rest and it was obvious once we got there. It's not like Fiesta Mexicana and for good reason. It's roughly 15-20 minutes outside the big touristy sites, but worth the travel. The service was impeccable! I ask for a mojito, which wasn't on the drink menu, and I was crafted up one of the best mojitos I've ever had.. the three choices of salsa they give are all amazing. You get a regular, a salsa verde, and a hot. The salsa verde was a personal favorite. My wife says you can judge a place right away from the quality of their cheese dip and Chile Frito's was on point. I got the asada and chicken tacos. My wife got the beef burrito. Everything tasted so fresh and so good! Seriously some of the best tacos I've ever had the pleasure of eating! It was a true pleasure. I wish I took pictures, but even then would not do this place justice. Seriously would give more stars if I could because the vibe and service was just awesome! read more

I mean looks okay but steak definitely needs some seasoning and the "queso" is definitely just white american cheese. Wish they would have remembered plastic ware too cause we had to hunt down some plastic forks from our hotel. Just make sure you don't get the quesadilla they are not worth the money. We shared combo Fajitas (shrimp, chicken and beef) with flour tortillas, refried beans, rice and salad with light oil/vinegar dressing. 99% of our Mexican orders have been grilled Fajitas so I our sample size is very large over 30+ years. Absolutely outstanding and we couldn't remember better Fajitas anywhere else. Even the ice tea was excellent! Chicken was fresh, thick, cooked right, tender, tasty. The onion and peppers grilled with it perfectly. The Tortilla not too heavy.... The sauces.... It was honestly fabulous.
