Stopped in today for lunch. They were busy so the slow service didn't bother me. Ordered a standard ACP and the fiancé Taquitos. The ACP may have been the absolute worst I've ever had. The chicken was mushy and smelled like raw chicken and the rice was mush as well. I let the server know and she offered for it to be remade but it wasn't worth trying again as I'm in a hurry. We were placed at a table and we wanted a booth. So we asked if we can politely, and they said NO. We ask for queso and they let us but it took like 10min. Usually it takes like 3min. I went here for the first time in over two years and I now remember why I quit going. They left the rice off of my entree which aggravated me to begin with... and then the food was mediocre. The two other Mexican restaurants in town have much better food. I only ordered from here because the other places were already closed for the evening. Do yourself a favor and go to El Taqueria Mariachi on Front St (1st choice) or Los Arrerios on Church St if you want much better food. Bland and tasteless. Inexplicably dry. We had lunch. I had enchiladas and my wife had quesadillas. Hardly worth the calories. Chips were excellent but courtesy salsa flavorless. Total cost including tip was $50. Chipotle is half the price and much better. Sad reality is that El Cerro is one of the best Mexican restaurants on the Grand Strand Georgetown area. We stopped in for a late lunch. My parents come here all the time. It was pretty empty. Inside is decorated nicely. The bar is located in the back of the restaurant. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. I ordered a taco/burrito combo and added beans. My parents ordered arroz con pollo. The food came out quickly. Everything was hot and delicious. We went to El Cerro in Georgetown, SC last night (June 12th) after my granddaughters dance recital. We told the hostess, Jasmine, (could've been a fake name), we needed a table for 8. Rudely, she said we'd have to wait. She would'nt say how long of a wait. I asked if we could have two booths, instead. She said we'd have to wait and again wouldn't say how long. I responded with, well, I guess we'll leave since you can't give me an idea of how long of a wait. And her response was, " yeah, you should go". I asked if there was a manager on duty and she said, "she didn't know". Now why would'nt you know if there was a manager working? I call BS. (By the way, this is NOT about having to wait. It's about how the Hostess handled it) We then drove up the road to El Cerro in Murrells Inlet and had a great experience there. The Hostess was very pleasant and our server was the best! read more

What a disappointment. I have only been in town for two days since moving here and decided to take a break from unpacking for something to eat. When I walked in it was very bright and clean looking. And after a while I was brought a menu, where I saw that they have what I consider a very limited menu. I found no pork dishes, no Rellenos, or even tamales. I waited for so long before my drink came, then waited even longer fit my meal to come. After the first couple of bites, I was beginning to wish that it hadn't come at all. The chicken was so overcooked and dry, it practically hurt to eat. And the mediocre didn't help at all. Luckily the retried beans were out of a can so I did have one thing to eat that tasted okay. But if your service is going to be slow as poor, please make sure that your product is spot on. I still can't get over thay waitress never came to check on me or even see if I wanted another drink. I was so disappointed with the evening that I will not be coming back. read more

We were here today for the 3rd time. The 1st couple of times, they were a bit slow on getting us seated, although they did acknowledge us. They were also pretty busy those 2 times & I think there was only 1 hostess on duty. She seemed to also be trying to help set up tables for a large party ahead of us. Today, we got there right before the lunch rush & we were seated immediately. Other than the slow seating the 1st 2 times, I have no complaints whatsoever. Seated, greeted, drink orders taken, & a menu in our hands very quickly. Their chips & salsa are heated before being brought to the table. I never realized how much better these are when heated. Food was brought out quickly & all of it was delicious. We ordered from the lunch menu & there was plenty of food. It was hot & freshly prepared. Server checked on us without hovering & removed our plates as we finished up. We really like this restaurant. Everyone there is friendly, they get the job done in a timely manner, & the food is excellent. We will definitely return. read more

The food was extremely disappointing. The chips and salsa were clearly store bought. The salsa was bland and couldn't even be considered mild. We tried the sampler platter, looks like a bunch of stuff you'd pull from freezer bags and microwave. The quesadilla was good fresh, nice meaty flavorful cheese. I ordered the burrito carnitas and was very happy with my choice. If I could rate the burrito alone it would get a 4/5. Without the burrito i'd rate it a 1/5. We were driving through Georgetown and were hungry. We didn't want to eat at the major fast food restaurants in town and spotted this Mexican restaurant. The food is okay and not to the standards we are used to in California. When the waiter brought us the chips with salsa, I asked him to bring the hottest chile they had. Wow.... first time back since they finished their upgrades and expansion. I did pop in with my kids while they were in the midst of their new build-out and it was not too good an experience, but given the fact that this ''disruption'' probably caused problems in the kitchen, I was willing to forgive. Last night we dined in. And in the new section. Kitchen was rocking. Servers were spot on and very attentive (albeit looking like Secret Service members with their dark clothes and two-way radio ear pieces). Luis was our server and was awesome. Our food... delicious... wife had a burrito special and the outer tortilla was wonderfully crisp and crunchy, the interior with melted cheese and chick was warm and gooey. I had their new offering of a shrimp salad, with piled on shrimp over a bed of greens, with beans, corn and crunched up tortilla crumbs (croutons) all served under a special dressing with bits and pieces of cilantro and other goodness. Flatware was heavy duty and of good weight; plates were large as portions were quite fit for the super hungry. We both left with to-go boxes with about 1/3 of what was originally on our plates. Total for 2 with only water to drink came to $33. Not too bad, considering the quality and quantity of food was excellent. They have really stepped up the image/branding. Nice new menus that are not your typical "Mexican Restaurant" me-too menus; Just the style and flare of the place smells of a large franchise gone wild. We've eaten here many times and the food is pretty good. The servers are pleasant. I think people should be aware that this restaurant has not cooperated with volunteers to help trap, neuter and rehome the feral cats on the property. The restaurant has reportedly removed all shelter for the cats and cat food provided by volunteers. I understand the restaurant does not want homeless cats living there, but cruelty is not the answer. They need to step up and solve the issue in a way that is not cruel to the animals. This is great authentic Mexican food at good prices! El Cerro Grande has been totally remodeled and is a really nice place for families or adults. The menu is quite extensive but I love the traditional combo platters so I can enjoy a taco and a burrito and the yummy rice and received beans. Don't skip the margarita, though! It was awesome! Plus they have Mexican AND American beers. You really need to try El Cerro Grande, it's the real deal on Mexican food. read more

One of my favorite places to eat in Georgetown. Friendly staff and owners food is always good and they have speedy service. Small area but they always find a table for you inside or on the outside patio. Cheese dip is always a must with dinner. I ate here one night, late and was very disappointed. I've been in F&B for over 20 years myself, so I understand off nights. I tried to give them another chance two nights ago when I went back for dinner with my mom. This experience was worse. The restaurant was infested with pantry moths. We literally, killed 6 of them before getting moved to another table. I killed 5 more before we ordered from table #2. The moths were swarming our tables while we attempted to eat our chips. We were dodging dive bombing moths. Eeeew!!! A plus? The margarita was good. The food? Not so much. The cheese dip was thick and bland - there was little if any seasoning. By the time I was on my 3rd chip, the chip stuck in the cheese bowl and would not come out. It stayed standing the entire meal. The salsa was watery and tasted like tomato sauce with some hot sauce sprinkled in it for the ONLY seasoning. My mom ordered a beef burrito. When she got to the middle of the burrito, the hamburger was raw and pink. The server told us that it was because the meat was boiled and assured us it was cooked through. Disgusting. Cold, raw hamburger meat? It was not cooked through and the best way to tell with raw meat is by temperature. It was cold, not 155 degrees and I doubt it was anywhere near that temp, EVER. The cheese wasn't even melted on the top of the burrito. It was still in decorative squiggles. Solid. Cold. Eeeeew. I ordered a fajita quesadilla without tomato or guacamole. Another plus? The portions were good sized for the money. However, the vegetables tasted like burnt oil and the meat was tough like shoe leather. The beans were cold and not refried - more like barely mashed and, again, no seasoning. The plate was hot, but the food was cold and either over or under-cooked. I ordered this BOTH times I was at this restaurant. The first time, the experience was the nearly the same as this, but the server was new, so we gave another chance. The second time? Was gross but the food order was correct and the margarita was refreshing. Maybe the food would have been better with more margaritas? Our server was pleasant enough but she knew when removing our plates that we were not happy with the food. There was over half of it left. It was simply, gross. When she asked what was wrong with it we explained as politely as possible. No offer was made for any discount or comp. Nothing. Not even a simple apology. NOTHING. And while we were talking to her, she used a menu to swing at a few moths. It was a horrible experience both times. I will not be back. read more

A pretty typical Mexican restaurant on the surface with the usual fare. Salsa in a Mexican restaurant is usually a good indication of how good the food will be and the salsa here was very typical. The food however was a cut above the average Mexican restaurant. I had the Burrito Carnitos which was very good. A huge burrito but Cut in half which was a nice touch. Smothered in queso blanco, the Carnitos had a very good smokey flavor. As good as any carnitas I've had: excellent. Service was very good and prices were reasonable, especially for the quantity. Being from Oklahoma, and having lived in both California and Texas. I know great Mexican food. This is not great Mexican food, nor is it even good Mexican food - at least not all the time. I had a decent dinner there, but my wife's dinner was disappointing. The two times I've had lunch there I've been horribly disappointed. The food was mostly flavorless, and the ground beef was watery. In all, even Taco Bell has better consistency and better flavor. After having such a miserable dining experience I'd be hard pressed to be dragged back there if I wanted to be sure of a delicious Mexican meal. However if I knew margaritas would be involved I'd probably try it one more time. read more
