Not authentic anything. Tex-mex more like it! For those who know...this are not chilaquiles. But at least the music playlist was fire!

We don't go out for Mexican very often. We ended up staying in Dunn longer than planned, so decided to give this place a try. We're so glad we did! Both times we were seated right away. We ordered margaritas. They were huge and had a good flavor. Our server brought chips and salsa. The chips may be the only negative of the meal. They weren't bad, but they weren't great. The salsa was good. The menu is huge. It was hard to decide. We ended up ordering a Steak with Shrimp, a Steak Burrito, and Fried Shrimp Chimichangas. The Fried Shrimp Chimichangas came with an enchilada cheese sauce on top and rice and beans. The chimi with the sauce was memorable. I would go back just for that. Delicious! We finished with deep fried ice cream for dessert. The service was very good. Each server we had was attentive. The food came out quickly and hot. My only regret is that we didn't order the Burrito California. Both servers recommended it. It sounds good! Maybe another time. Relaxing atmosphere! Great food! Good service! Yummy margaritas!

This was an amazing find. We had been driving all day and stopped at a local hotel. We saw the restaurant sign and thought we'd give the restaurant a try. We are so glad we did. They have fantastic service and amazingly delicious food. The enchilada verdes was the best I've ever eaten. The sauce was amazing. It had just the right amount of spiciness and great blend of flavor. The seating is typical, but we were comfortable.

Definitely a hole in the wall, the restaurant is attached to a hotel off of the interstate but the food is delectable!! Definitely a great place to stop by for authentic Mexican food if you're in the area!

Ok place off the highway. Attached to chain hotel. If you need a quick stop off highway this is a unique option. Very friendly service, 4 to 5 star level. The enchiladas and taco salad were ok. Blah guacamole...first time ever not finishing a bowl of guacamole. Probably store bought? If you are in the neighborhood and no other options grab you, this is an OK choice.

3 stars for the convenience and staff Unremarkable food Disappointed that grilled onions were on the shrimp tacos - nice amount of shrimp. Chips and salsa were good Really wanted to like this place

Return visit one year later....we were excited to return to El Charro Grande. Actually stopped in Dunn just to eat here. It was a quiet Monday evening around 6:30 and greatly warmly by staff. They brought over warm chips and salsa and took our drink order. We both ordered entrees I decided on a house salad and a small tortilla soup and my husband ordered a combination. I rethought my choice and changed it to a large soup. The salad was lovely, even had a small scoop of guacamole. The large soup was HUGE , I wish she would have said something, I ate half and I still had a quart to go home with. It was delicious but way too much for one person, I would say enough for 3! My husband's combination, quesadilla and burrito was disappointing, they looked almost identical. A burrito in NY is like a wrap filled with meat , rice and beans. Oh well, we ended on a huge slice of flan, took half home. Would I be anxious to come off 95 just to stop here? Not as much. But still a nice place to eat if your staying in the area.

I kind of feel like I don't need to say much. This place never disappoints. They allow you to order smaller portion sizes all day long & they always make sure you get your money's worth. I ordered two meal trays and a side of queso for less than $21! Customer service is A+ & it's always fresh. If you're passing through this is your sign to stop! Best choice in the city for the cuisine, it's my promise. SN: I included the most up to date menu but let it be noted there is signage about increases. Doesn't look like the entire menu was effected but some items for sure.

First of all, I hate to give a negative review, especially on a local business. My wife and I have…read morevisited this place on multiple occassions, usually after our workday on Saturdays. I ordered their "smashburger" double with frenchfries. My wife ordered a $9 basket of fried dill pickles and an order of fried chicken gizzards. Next, a rundown of what we received. Well, the "smashburger" was not smashed. It had 2 beef patties that were clearly not smashed by definition. They were cooked from a pre-formed patty with a somewhat tough texture. There was so much "burger sauce" on it that it was running all over the plate. Next the crinkle cut fries. They were "undercooked" believe it or not. I know properly cooked when I bite into a fry. Next, the chicken gizzards. My wife took one bite and looked at me and said "they taste like they've been dredged in salt. And, the did. Inedible. Lastly, the fried dill pickles. $9 basket with little more than a handfull. The $9 was not the issue. They were cooked nearly beyond recognition. A fork would not even penetrate them they were cooked so hard. When I brought that to ine of the waitress' attention, and showed her, she said the "cook" had no control over what came out of the bag. That was not the point. The point was they were cooked ao much, they were inedible. Oh, but the Coors light we ordered were up to snuff. Well, I paid the bill, in full, left a good tip. The waitress did not offer to make anything right in order to bring us back again. So, we won't be going back. Sorry, but we didn't do it. You did.
