The owner is right there every night...great guy and takes care of his customers. The waiters are just great...all of them. Tried this restaurant on 10/13/2018. It was fantastic, many items on the menu that are not typical for the Mexican restaurants in the fayetteville area. The salsa was some of the best I have had. Portions are large and fresh. I had the carnitas, large chunks of fork tender braised pork served with freshly made corn tortillas. Wife had the chicken chimichangas which she loved. If you are in the Fayetteville area it is worth the drive to try. We will definitely be back. read more

This was a total pull off the interstate while traveling stop so we had no idea what to expect. The restaurant is attached to a Quality Inn (which didn't look too quality). When we walked in we were greeted immediately and seated with menus in hand. Service was good. They promptly came and took our drink order, brought the customary chips and salsa, etc. They seemed to have a lot of "regulars" which was a good sign considering this seemed set up more as a tourist stop. I ordered cheese enchiladas and they seemed a little confused that I didn't want any meat, but we managed to get through that quickly. The food was good and quite filling. The motel is completely sketch, but don't let that scare you away from the restaurant. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped in here with some friends for dinner on Saturday night. We were all headed to a few haunted houses in Dunn, and El Charro had the best Yelp reviews in the area. We walked in around 7:00, and they were not busy at all, so we were immediately seated. We ordered a pitcher of margaritas and asked if they were strong (which we wanted since we needed liquid courage for the haunted houses). Our waitress laughed and said she would take care of us. She also gave us some chips and salsa. The salsa was really good, but the chips were bland. Our waitress returned with our pitcher of margaritas, and we were all disappointed - it was bright green sour mix with barely any tequila. Bummer. I ordered the shrimp fajitas, our friends ordered steak fajitas and my boyfriend ordered the Speedy Gonzalez. The shrimp fajitas were good! My boyfriend said his dinner was ok, and our friends said their steak fajitas were just ok. When it was time to leave, it took forever for our waitress to bring the bill, even though they weren't busy. Pros: The portions were huge and the prices were fair. The shrimp fajitas and salsa were good. Cons: The margaritas need work (pure sour mix isn't fun for anyone), they need to improve their chips as well as their customer service. read more

Asked for a Togo box and a refill in Togo unsweetened Tea and a horchata and she said we don't have refills on horchata and my husband said you mean to tell me you can't do a Togo cup of horchata and she just looked at him and he said I'll pay for it and she brought us a Togo cup of horchata. The best thing you can get at El Charro are directions to Ay Wey... Tonight, the entire experience was horrible, from the food, to service, to attitude of wait staff. First of all, the dish I ordered had changed. Apparently long gone are the days of peeled shrimp. Nope- tails and legs and shell are in full force. No sauce on the shrimp, as it had before. I had to ask repeatedly for my corn tortillas... and the waitress' response? "You should have asked me." Hell, how could we... she disappeared for 15 minutes; maybe we should have filled out a missing person's report while we waited for her to return? When we were ready to leave and then asked for drinks to go, we were presented with a 2nd check, billing us for the refills to go... are you freaking serious!!?? Plus,our dessert was never delivered to our table either. BTW, their sweet tea was rancid as well. Needless to say, this is our final meal at this *formerly* great eating establishment. read more

Exit 73 off of interstate 95 this place is a hidden gem! It's attached to the Quality Inn hotel and I can not tell you how happy you will be here. It's 12pm on a Monday and we were greeted and seated immediately. Before our drink order was taken a male employee that wasn't our server brought us warm chips and amazing salsa. The chips and salsa kept coming when our basket was empty. I ordered a steak, shrimp and chicken fajita Texasana and my son ordered a lunch chimichanga with a side of rice. He wants me to note that his lunch was like heaven and he's sorry for almost choosing to Taco Bell. My diet coke stayed full, my sons glass of water was great. I wish I had the option to give this restaurant ten stars. The employees work together which is an amazing concept that some patrons don't like. I was assisted by 2 females and 1 male and it did not bother me in the least because everything that came to my table was correct. Stopped in Dunn for the night, checked yelp for the reviews....as usual most everyone was right about this place. Simple, clean , comfortable and authentic place with the charm of real people making it welcoming. Don't be put off because it's beside the quality inn or by the small entrance - go inside and you won't be disappointed. Greeted right away, and seated in a quiet booth. They had Sol beer which is unusual, and which I'm fond. The menu was full of choices and there were some specials, but I decided on Carne Asada. While I waited they had chips and one of the best salsas I've had - a little spicy but good! The order came out in 15 minutes or less....amazing! It was one of the best I can remember having. We were driving cross state and chose to eat here bc of the good ratings and I'm glad we did! The food was wonderful. I was skeptical at first , bc the open sign was only half working and it was attached to a janky looking hotel. Inside however was nice and clean. I had the number 14 combo, a chili relleno, burrito and taco. I loved it. My husband had a combo with a taco, chalupa and enchiladas. Guacamole on his chalupa was so good. He thought his enchiladas were bland, but I can't speak for that bc I've never liked enchiladas. He tried my burrito and agreed that the red sauce on my burrito was the bomb.
