I stopped by after a hair appointment and ordered the crispy chicken ranch salad to go. This salad was really good, though I did feel like they could have put more cheese and bacon on it (probably true of most things). The lettuce was crisp, the chicken was crispy, and everything was very fresh. I also got a side of Texas toast, which was delicious. I did notice that this place is hopping on a weeknight, and a lot of the customers seem to be repeat people who know the staff. The woman who took my order was very friendly and helpful about getting my food to me. I think I'd come back and have a salad like the one I had - really good. I also noticed they have a variety of desserts, including some delicious-looking brownies, and some special off-menu items like a baked potato with barbecue on it.

All were very friendly, patient and helpful. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I thought the barbecue was just Ok. For the price, I felt it missed the mark. I ordered the Brisket and the Mac & Cheese. It was fine, but not blown away. I also ordered the andouille sausage. It came out pre-sliced for me, which I wasn't a fan of. I will give Empire Armadillo another shot. It may have just been an off night. I hear the sandwiches are really good and I will try one of their options on my next visit.

It's…read moreclose to me in the South SJ area so no complains in the location or the parking because there's lots of spaces. It has a clean interior and was somewhat busy with 3-4 people in line, but I did an online order and was able to skip the line. I placed the order at 3:30 pm but I had to wait about 5 minutes for it to be complete. My family mostly eats subway so this was an interesting take since it wasn't as long as a foot long but a lot thicker. The prices for the size of the sandwich are somewhat steep for $12 per sandwich. The doubled size is $20... Anyways, I ordered a BLT extra bacon mikes way with cherry pepper relish, banana peppers, onions, honey mustard & pickles on rosemary bread. The rosemary bread was quite dense but had a great taste. The sandwich itself had a good amount of sauce and had lots of acidic and slight sour but also spiciness. It was filling since the entire protein was bacon, and it was a lot of bacon. I was so stuffed right after and happy with my order. I would come here every few months if I had a craving.

They do have gluten free udis bread but like I said sometimes the workers, even if you tell them gluten allergy, they use the same container, same area with the veggies that they touched previous sandwiches to, and don't use new containers.

I was expecting it to be super salty, heavy, and drenched in sauce, but it was actually really balanced and refreshing. The pork was flavorful without being overpowering, and I could distinctly taste the water chestnuts and veggies mixed in, which gave it a nice texture and freshness. It felt comforting without making me feel weighed down. The cold cut combo bahn mi here is seriously bomb. I also really liked the bread ratio--the baguette was the perfect size and didn't overpower the fillings. Some places think bigger bread is better, but it ends up taking away from the inside and makes the sandwich hard to bite into. Here, everything felt balanced, so you actually get the perfect mix of bread, meats, pickled veggies, and sauce in every bite. The cured meats were flavorful without being hella salty too, which made the whole sandwich even better. Def need to come back to try some of their desserts near the middle of the line's counter and in that fridge near the register! _______________________________________________________ --- S E R V I C E --- Service was great too. They handled the rush really well, and the staff still stayed warm and attentive even with how busy it was. When I got to the register, there were other customers trying to ask for extra help after getting their orders--and anyone who grew up around asian "aunties" and "uncles" knows how eager they can get. Instead of brushing me aside to quickly help them first, the cashier politely gestured that they'd assist them after finishing with me. It was a small moment, but I appreciated how respectful and composed they were while juggling everything. _______________________________________________________ --- A M B I A N C E -- To-go vibes for sure! It's a small shop big enough for the line (before it can go out the door), cold drinks and desserts in the fridges, small snacks and plates on your way to the register, and the pick-up window on the outside. Makes sense to just pick up your food and enjoy it in your car or at home because of how busy it can get. Heads up--they definitely have evenings where they clean-up and lock the door minutes for closing. Do make time to come before then to secure food!

She was friendly and helped me figure out what to order without rushing me. The Italian comes stacked with a trio of Italian cold cuts--salami, ham, and capicola--plus provolone, crisp lettuce, and a light oil‑and‑vinegar dressing. I opted out of the tomato. Simple, fresh, and balanced. The bread held everything together without getting soggy, which is a win for a loaded sandwich. Overall, great first visit. If you're new here, start with #13. They are open mostly during lunch hours and close at 5 or 6 at night. This parking lot is not hard to park in. They have a large menu of what you would expect at a deli restaurant, with different kinds of sandwiches and some salads. They do have a good selection of vegetarian items, which is nice. Also, a variety of chips and beverages for purchase. I ordered the cold roast beef (#1) and added avocado to it. All sandwiches come standard with lettuce, tomato, onion, mustard, mayo, and pepperocini. I got the small-sized sandwich and felt like it was pretty large! They had a variety of bread options, including rolls and sliced bread, and I picked sourdough. Everything was freshly made! There are a couple of tables outside, and more tables inside. They did have a sign saying they don't have a bathroom for customers. I saw a lot of people picking up catering orders. We will definitely return next time we are in the mood for a fresh sandwich.
