My maiden experience at El Diablo was fantastic! It came very hyped up my sister who's local to the area and she wasn't exaggerating. El Diablo does assembly line Mexican food right. They had ample options for cheeses, meats, and sauces. I also loved the microbrewed soda options as opposed to Coke or Pepsi. It added a fun Delawarean twist. The assembly line staff were helpful as I navigated the process for the first time as well!

I absolutely love this place. I haven't had in years since I was at UD but being in Wilmington for the week, I had to head there and get my favorite order: A chicken quesadilla stuffed to holy hell. And my god was it worth it. They are generous with the chicken and cheese. Both taste fresh and delicious. I also got it with salsa, corn and jalapenos. All so crisp. And the staff there whipped it up like it was nothing. So yeah, get the quesadilla here but you also need to get BOTH the lime and orange sauces. They're both in general good, but I guarantee you will fall head over heels for one of them. Some people are orange sauce folks, others are green, get both to learn something about yourself. Oh and I also reccomend getting a side of pineapple salsa. Spicy, sweet and flavorful.

Yes it's expensive. $15 for a burrito. This takes flavor to a new level though. Sherry onions, multiple peppers, sauces, marinated meats, variety of toppings that aren't just plain boring ingredients. If you order appropriately, the food is JAM packed. You would be silly not to try this place if you've never been.

I am in town just visiting a friend and have never been- the staff recommended the steak burrito and it did not disappoint! The set up is a line where you pick and chose what you would like in or on your choice of food. They also recommended different sauces depending on your meat- as for the sauces on the side! They were all delicious! I also got the guacamole and queso with chips both were amazing! When I come back to visit, this will be a must-do stop!

Big fan of El Diablo Burrito Bowls! The portions are huge and they are definitely cheap for the quantity of food you get (sometimes it takes me from lunch until dinner to finish my meal). This restaurant has a chipotle feel to it (fast food mexican). I have tried the quesadilla, burrito bowl and burrito and they are all delicious. I usually stick to chicken and am rarely disappointed. They have some cool dressings you can add as well that are a great addition. The line can get long around lunch during the week (out the door) but it usually moves pretty fast and I would say it is worth the wait. There are a few smaller tables inside but it seems a little cramped to sit there so I always get it to go.

10/10 this slaps. Better, healthier, and what chipotle thinks it is lol. Honestly Need more of these restaurants all over DE, we need this. I would come more often if only I lived closer, I only get to order when it's time for lunch and my job. But hey! You should come here instead of that other chicken bowl place lol. read more

This place is like a way better, local, homegrown version of Chipotle! Similar takeout type-environment as Chipotle as well. Huge portions, fantastic food, and an amazing sauce selections. The honey jalapeño is a must-try. The staff is out-of-this-world friendly. Easily one of my new favorite spots! read more

Pretty solid tex-mex bowl, but the sauces were a bit of a let down. I got the lime steak bowl with the recommended sauces, but they were oily and salty without as much flavor and I would have liked. Super nice staff and a great local chain to try though! read more

I showed up at 8:10pm, ordered a quesadilla, and the guy behind the counter said they don't make them the last 30 minutes of the night because it's too much to clean up. He confirmed they closed at 9pm, which would be 50 minutes before closing. I turned around and walked out. read more

I will cross state lines to eat at El D's. After much hype from his Delaware coworkers, my boyfriend and I decided we needed to experience El Diablo's to decide for ourselves if this burrito place was the Mecca it was made out to be. Y'all. I have three words: Braised Short Rib. That's it. Like competitors, you can build your own burrito, bowl, tacos, salad, or quesadilla. Unlike competitors, the quality and quantity of your options is seemingly endless. Choose from four different types of cheese, a hefty array of unique, delicious sauces- my personal favorites are the Chipotle Ranch and the Roasted Garlic Cilantro. AND DON'T FORGET THE FIXINS!! Sour cream, jalapeño slaw, corn salsa, olives. You want it? You got it. You didn't know you wanted it but then you saw it on their menu? You got it. I can't rave enough about the braised short rib. It's truly the most juicy, tender, melt in your mouth meat I've probably ever eaten. The quality and flavor cannot be contested. Save your appetite, because the portions are huge and filling. El D's days are one meal days. You win this time, Delaware. read more

The best tacos I've ever had. I normally try to be really robust in my reviews but that's all I have. It's my guilty pleasure and I indulge too often. An assembly line style burrito shop also serving quesadilla, tacos, etc. What I like about Diablo Burrito is the choice of fixin's such as sherry cured red onions, a variety of pickled peppers (jalapeño's, cubanelles, serrano's, habanero's), a hot pineapple salsa, a corn salsa and some amazing dressings that you don't find at chains like Chipotle and Qdoba. Any time a can "create my own" I'm down. You can whip up some pretty awesome combinations. On the down side, the space is super small. The dining area has some nice table and chairs but probably seats maybe 15. Also the way the ordering is done typically means the line goes straight out the door. When it's crowded which always you will be standing outside for awhile. read more

Omg what?! Random find, but the best place we could've chosen! Super tasty, so fresh, very flavorful! I got mahi mahi tacos with a mix of the pico + corn salsa, salsa verde as a dressing, and goat cheese. My boyfriend got a mushroom burrito with goat cheese and salsa verde as well. Honestly, we both kept saying how it's probably the best burrito and tacos we have ever had! No indoor dining at the moment so we ate in the car, but it was so delicious that it made up for that :) read more

One of the better lunch spots in downtown wilmington. chipotle-style! Line is long but goes by fast so don't worry about not getting back to the office in time. I got the chicken bowl with guac ($9 bucks)- so same prices as chipotle but good alternative because there is no chipotle in wilmo! They have tons of sauces to choose from. I recommend chipotle ranch!! They have an assortment of cheeses too, I got feta with my salad. I'll def be back, it's located in trolley square! Parking may be difficult, just fyl. read more

Original October 2019: (5 stars) You really do get your $10 worth here. The food tastes fresh, it doesn't feel like fast food at all, and they have super awesome vegan / healthy options too. I'm a chipotle fan but this is indeed better quality Dec. 2019 Update : (2 stars) I went again & I tried to bring my friend here to try el Diablo & The heavy set brown haired girl literally threw my guac in our bag, took my card, gave it back and then immediately got on her phone and said nothing. I honestly didn't even know if my card was charged or not because she didn't say anything... she acted like she was mad that she had to work. It was very awkward. Then an older couple came in & she was so nice to them. I'm spending money just like they are. Why treat me differently..? I live here 1 block away & would like to come back but people like her shouldn't be working the counter... I spend my $ just like everyone else. Update: Feb. 2020 (5 stars) : I went back again & was treated well by 3 younger staff! Thank god. This place has good food & I didn't want to stop coming here. read more

Shoutout to this establishment!!!! Being a guest in town for a couple days I ran to this spot about 30 minutes ago and got the best and exact salad I had a taste for. The braised pork was amazing the toppings were also good but the staff at this establishment was PHENOMENAL!!! Thank you ladies for making me laugh and feel safe while ordering my salad thank you for hospitality thank you for your amazing customer service your knowledge on the food and toppings were awesome. I've been hearing all the rave for el Diablo and so today I finally gave it a try because it's cinco de Mayo. Sadly, it didn't meet the expectations I had based on what other people said... For my first ever order, I got a citrus braised pork burrito with black beans, half pepper jack, half cheddar, guacamole, pickled peppers, pico de gallo, pineapple habanero salsa, and salsa verde. The part I enjoyed the most was the pineapple habanero salsa. The pork was tasty enough. The serving size was huge but I saw that they had to rewrap mine because it was practically overflowing. I think seeing it dumped again on another tortilla made it look less appetizing too. I actually asked if I could do the recommended combination but either they didn't hear me or didn't mind it.. Last comment is rgat it was a bit too soggy. :( It was very filling but the flavor wasn't the best. Maybe I'll try it again in the future, and maybe then I'll have a better experience. read more

To the owner: Please open one up in North Jersey! It would be a fantastic location thats always busy. When I lived in Delaware, I survived off of El Diablo. It is hands down the best Mexican fast food I have ever had. From the burritos to quesadillas to the entire menu, it will make you drool. The honey jalapeno sauce? To die for. I wish they sold it, I would buy an ungodly amount and ship it to me in New Jersey. The cirtrus braised pork burrito will send you straight to food lovers heaven. Also the lime grilled steak burrito or tacos are amazing as well. I always get chips, queso, and guac to go and they never ever skimp out on the guac or queso. Every experience I had here was beyond amazing. The food beyond great quality. I can't wait to return! read more

Absolutely outstanding!! Best burritos I have ever had in the tristate area. The tacos, quesadilla and bowls are all delicious and I am in love with the pineapple habanero salsa. All ingredients are so fresh, it tastes like they picked it that morning. And the salads are out of this world. My wife and I share often share one and it is more than enough!!! Catching up on my taco reviews and I can't leave out this terrific spot I discovered after a writers' conference at the Delaware Art Museum. Hungry after a long day, I did a quick search for "tacos" and followed the gps to deliciousness. You know a place is going to be good when you ask a question and the immediate, enthusiastic response is, "You can have whatever you want here!" With an explanation of the menu and some suggestions, I found myself enjoying a steak, a short rib, and a fish taco. If you do anything while you're here, do yourself a favor and get the short rib taco. I had never thought of having goat cheese on a taco. Mind. Blown. Everything is fresh and delicious (get the guac!), the restaurant is small but clean and comfortable. And the staff (I'm sorry I didn't ask for the name of the young guy who helped me - he definitely deserves a bonus for enthusiasm and product knowledge) made it a great experience. Now if only you'll open a location closer to me in PA so I can be a regular customer! read more

This restaurant is located in the Fairfax Shopping Center right between Walgreens and Crab du Jour on Concord Pike, and there is plenty of free parking in the lot. When you walk in, you immediately know the place is authentic by the aroma of incense and the mini altars with daily offerings to Ông Địan and Thần Tài. The space itself is clean, spacious, and has plenty of seating. The friendly staff attended to our needs right away, brought us water and menus, and took our orders. I ordered the Bún Đặc Biệt (house special vermicelli topped with a mix of grilled pork, shrimp, fresh herbs, and sliced chả giò), a bánh mì thịt heo nướng (grilled pork), a bánh mì thịt bò nướng (grilled beef), and a bánh mì chả lụa (pork meat loaf). My nephew ordered the Phở Tái Nạm Gầu (thinly sliced raw eye-round steak, well-done flank, and fatty brisket), while my wife ordered the Bún Chả Giò. The pho was amazing--authentic, savory, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. The bun dishes were delicious and cool, hitting our appetites perfectly on a 90°+ day. What really makes the difference with vermicelli is having a great nước mắm sauce, and this place does it perfectly. And the bánh mì sandwiches--wow! Having great bread is the foundation, and this place absolutely hits the mark. The combination of the thinly sliced marinated meats topped with a crisp, tangy julienned mix of daikon and carrots, long cucumber sticks for a fresh crunch, bright cilantro, and fresh jalapeños for a spicy kick makes all the difference. It's what elevates it from an OK sandwich to a truly great one. We're definitely hitting this spot again whenever we're in town. One of my favorite restaurants. I knew I would like it from the start when I noticed they had placed a fine spiked wire all along the ledge outside and on their sign to keep birds away, and also a much needed and commonly overlooked air curtain, which is a device establishments place between their doors to keep insects and birds out - a powerful, toupee dislocating, downward blowing fan. After walking through the air curtain and realizing El Diablo is possibly the most anti-bird restaurant I've ever visited, I didn't even care that my carefully styled hair was blown all over the place. Once I gave the staff my anti-bird hand signal (cross your hands over one another, link your thumbs and flutter your fingers like wings, then transition into the "blow it up" move that has become a popular finale for a fist-bump), and it was returned, I decided this was the place for me. Anyhoo, the braised short-rib is unbelievable, as is the citrus braised pork. If you're looking to dine on an avian, try the chicken with the chipotle barbeque sauce - it's a doozy. All of El Diablo's ingredients are fresh and absolutely fantastic, and the sauces and dressings make me want to punch Taco Bell in the face. El Diablo might mean "The Devil" in translation, but no burrito more heavenly has ever crossed mine lips. They say Jesus resides inside each of us - well I hope he likes burritos, because that's what he's going to get. In closing, a quote often associated with the legendary cartoon heroine Jem - El Diablo, you are outrageous. Truly, truly outrageous. read more
