Been procrastinating on trying this place due to mixed reviews, but wound up here for a meeting at my colleague's suggestion... and it was fine. However, I should acknowledge that I didn't have a full meal here, instead opting for a margarita and a snack. My house margarita was fine... not the best I've ever had, but not bad either, though the $13 price point is a little steep. One of my colleagues ordered the Green Fire Margarita, which was a unique spin on a spicy margarita with some fresh herbs added, truly getting that "green" taste. Very unique, but would not be a good choice for the cilantro = soap crew. I ordered the side of plantains, which were cooked well and served with cotija cheese. OMG what incredible service ... our server went out of her way to make us feel great in this welcoming Mexican restaurant with a great view! The Wilmington River Walk offers visitors a beautiful venue to stroll before or after a meal and Taco Grande has delicious affordable family-friendly meals awaiting you. The menu is not overwhelming but offers an excellent selection of options. It all starts with the traditional chips and "salsa " Taco Grande 's salsa has a nice but not overwhelming kick to it. The chips were decent. Although we chose water the beverage menu is impressive and we could see other diners clearly enjoying their drinks of choice. Our meals were yummy. The burrito bowl offered a nice combination of flavors and my enchiladas were good plus the beans were well above average. The only disappointment was the rice ... eh. Taco Grande was recommended to me by a colleague and did not disappoint. The restaurant was large, open and lively, especially during dinner. Our server was friendly, attentive, and checked in often to make sure we had everything we needed. As for food, we ordered the Southwestern Chicken Fajitas and the Roasted Cauliflower Tacos, both were delicious and well portioned. The place is huge. Bountiful outdoor seating for you to take in the weather. The vibes in the place are immaculate with live music at 5pm on a Thursday Staff are very attentive. I have two kids so this definitely does not go unnoticed The food sadly is not very good but it is by design/big fish grill owners being cheap For example throw some more cheese on the nachos! I ate the top layer and threw out the bottom 90% of chips with nothing on them Put some raw onions on the side for those birria tacos and quesadillas. Let us get some crunch! Came here for happy hour and loved it! It is in a lovely location right along the river and the vibe is really cool. I was there on a Friday and they had great live music. Tiffany was working the bar and she was very friendly and acommodating when I let her know that I was tight on time. I had two delicious beef tacos off of the happy hour menu. Zero star location. I knew this would be a bad experience when after 30 minutes of waiting, our server greeted us with, "Ooops, I didnt know I was assigned to your tables!" It was not busy at all with the dining area being completely open. Service took so long, I had to retrieve water myself at the bar for the entire table. It took me finding one of the "mangers" to ask what the status was with our orders. Once our orders were in, it took another 90 minutes for our food to finally arrive. Undercooked, doughy tortillas, undersauced and horrible shrimp. Then our server had the audacity to have an attitude with us when the fault was 100% on your staff. The server threw the pen, bill, and credit card back at us! It is very expensive to eat out now and this was a waste of my time, money and waste of one of the few chances my family can treat ourselves to eat out. Taco Grande? More like a Grande Piece of Crap dining experience that I will never go back to. A complete horrible experience that no one should have to endure. We've only ever sat at the bar here and it's always been a decent experience. Bartenders are always nice and friendly and seem to know how to make decent drinks. They stopped carrying their pre-made sangria so are bartender last night made us red sangria from scratch and it was excellent. We usually get wine there and our cords are decent. They give you a complimentary chips and salsa which we always enjoy. Last night somebody in the kitchen must have gotten a new appreciation for salt. Because the salsa was so salty I couldn't eat it. Then we ordered the guacamole and that too was extremely salty to the point where it made me nauseous. I didn't realize guacamole was supposed to be salty. I am so sick and tired of these chefs and Cooks going crazy with the salt around here. It needs to stop. Anyway, I can't speak for the rest of the food but people seem to like it. The restaurant itself is large and very pretty inside. It's also very American. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, I would go to one of the smaller family-owned places around here. Well if you LOVE Taco Bell quality food, being ignored at the bar & THE worst tasting Marguerita ever made, this is the place for you. The 4 of us ordered a pitcher of Marg's and the pitcher arrived so full of ice, that it was impossible to pour out of the container into the bell jar glasses. When we did finish spilling & pouring it was less than 3 servings of drinks, not the bargain we were hoping for. Did they make it better? NOPE. The rice & beans that accompanied the dishes were clearly out of a can and not freshly made. They arrived cold & under seasonsed, Did they make it better? NOPE. The queso with a lump of meat added had exactly one tablespoon of protein in the dish for $17 and the chicken was undercooked and flavorless. No one ever came to ask how the dishes were after they were delivered (which was quickly) or we would have had a chance to have them make it again. I had to chase down someone who appeared to be the manager just standing around with their thumb up their rear end to get my buddy a 2nd Modelo. We take walks down by the riverfront regularly and have walked by numerous times, it appears that we should have just kept walking again this time, to DEL PEZ. Service was also pretty good but the food just wasn't what I personally would've hoped for as it definitely caters to the "Americanized-Hispanic cuisine" crowd. Chips and salsa were brought out however the consistency of the salsa was very watery. The food itself wasn't bad, but again far from authentic. The filet mignon fajitas had tender, well-seasoned steak with a bed of sautéed peppers and onion. On the side - flour tortillas, cheese, lettuce, pico de gallo, and sour cream. Came to Taco Grande for an early lunch. Our server Matthew was very attentive. The restaurant is very spacious with a big bar area. The Brussel sprout appetizer was huge! We stopped here for their outdoor seating on a saturday. Outside seating is seat yourself and you can order from the small bar trailer. They have a bar tender making drinks and your food will be brought over to the table you choose. Food & Drink: Honestly all of our food hit the spot and the drinks were great. I loved the nachos and the elotes. The wings were small especially for sharing but a great app if you plan on ordering an entree. Seating/Service: Seating yourself can be a bit of a pain once this place gets busy. We got there before the rush but we watched other struggle. The bartender made the drinks fast. However they seemed to be constantly restocking from the inside bar so he was hard to get ahold of at time. But once you do get his attention he was VERY fast. I don't fault him for this, it seems they need to prep the outside bar better for service! Atmosphere: This is a great location for out door dining. Our weather was great. However, the music here is weird. It sounded like someone's liked songs on Spotify and they were going through a breakup. Last time I was here I got the burger but didn't love it, but coming again I knew I had to get Mexican food at the Mexican restaurant Lol. I got the Al Pastor burrito and loved it, it was super flavorful, cooked really well, and I would really recommend it! My girlfriend got the crispy fish tacos, I didn't love them but she did. Really nice location right by the water, with ample parking and pretty interior. Wait: My friends and I waited about 1.5 hours on a Saturday evening. The hostess took our number and we were texted a link that updated with our spot in line and how much time was left. I thought that feature is really nice, so there's no mystery of when your table is ready. We passed time by walking along the lovely riverfront, so the waiting time flew by. App: Each table gets a complimentary basket of chips and salsa, which was a nice surprise. We ordered brussel sprouts as an appetizer, which were delicious. I wouldn't have minded if the brussel sprouts were cooked/roasted a little longer, but the seasoning was perfect. Entree: I got the fried fish tacos. The rice and beans were fine. I'm basically an all American eater but after eating at their sister restaurant Big Fish, thought I'd give them a try. The restaurant is new and the decor gives a nice vibe. My husband and I were seated immediately by the hostess and the server came right over. We ordered margaritas which were delicious! They gave us a large complementary basket of chips and salsa. We shared two entrees, a huge southwest Cobb chicken salad and shrimp quesadillas. The salad was a large bed of romaine with black beans, corn, avocado, onions and well seasoned chicken. We could only eat a quarter of the salad because it was so large but very, very good. The quesadillas were hearty; loaded with shrimp and the usual trimmings. We enjoyed our dinner but had a large bag of leftovers to go. The meal was a nice change of cuisine for us. We will revisit this restaurant in the future. read more

We Ordered the fish tacos, $16.95, the waitress brought out a big bowl of nachos, which were good, and salsa - which was like WATER. Terrible. Took a long time to get our food. Finally they came out and while they were tasty, they were small anot much content. a small piece of fish, some shredded purple cabbage, a drop of sauce. thats it. Ok, I like the whole atmosphere about his place. I can see why people come here on a Sunday night and would say its worth a wait. You get a really decent portion for what you pay. I cant say for every item on the menu but my Tijuana Hot Chicken tasted great, fried and filled with jalapeños on a toasted brioche bun. A side of slim cut seasoned fries too.
