We had our wedding here in late March 2026. It was amazing. All around. We came for the food, and it did not disappoint. Everything was absolutely delicious and many of our guests actually mentioned how good the food was. Buffet was great and the salmon add on was well worth it. Staff, bartender(s), Nicole and Ariel in the events office...everyone was truly amazing and went above and beyond to make are special day, well, very special. We've already been back to the restaurant for a meal and look forward to many more in the future. VERY fair pricing on the venue and the food, great outdoor, nature-like setting. Thank you El Dorado!

I only rate 5 stars if everything is perfect. - Tee time: 10:50am on a Monday, booked the morning of for myself as a single for $70 including cart. - At least half of the tee boxes were uneven, but not the worst I've seen. - Fairways were well kept, some rough patches and some fairways were bumpy but overall good conditions if you keep it in the fairway. - Greens were well kept, most putts rolled well. Bunker conditions looked average for a municipal course. - Overall a decent course for the price, pace of play was alright, I didn't have to wait that long on most of the tee boxes or approach shots. I finished my round of golf in about 4 hours and 30 minutes. I would pay the week day price to play here again given most courses in SoCal are around the same price and anything significantly cheaper would have worse course conditions.

Michael, our amazing day of coordinator, from True Luxe Events. Who does this? He does! Thank you for being there every step of the way.

Thank you for our beautifully organized wedding. Thank you Nicole for being our point person and having little details added for our rehearsal and bride room. You, Adriel and your El Dorado staff and vendors were amazing. I still have family impressed with how well organized it was, great food, and about the friendly staff. Thank you for helping clean my dress at yhe bottom so I was presentable before entering as a couple. Even the rain, was a well executed curve ball. Two family members will reach out soon to have a couple of celebration soon. A good day for golf! Not too busy, perfect weather, and the facilities are on par. ;)

We had our varsity football banquet here and it was perfect! The heating lamps helped a lot since it was a little cold in the evening. The lighting was just right and everything was set up and ready to go well before our families arrived. It was great to have tech support for our slideshow and the staff acting quickly to some last minute changes in tables, etc. the food set up was great and everyone enjoyed themselves. A few people said the food was a little bland but still decent and met everyone's basic needs. Great service by the staff!

El Dorado Park Golf Course Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - El Dorado Park Golf Course

How long does it approximately take to finish the 18 hole course?

Plan on a tad over 4 hours. Of course it depends if you are behind rabbits (under 4 hrs.) or snails (4 1/2+ hrs.).

    Mats or grass driving range?

Mats, bring your own plastic tee too otherwise you have to buy or rent one.

Does anyone have pricing for the driving range?

It starts at $6 for approximately 30 balls. As you increase the $ the cost per ball is slightly reduced

Is there a snack cart that drives around so you can buy snacks and beer on the course?

Yes, there is a beer/snack cart. There is also a snack shack [the old clubhouse] at the 3rd/15th tee boxes. You will also pass a snack area after playing 9, on your way to the 10th tee.

When you rent here they give you the hall and plaza. The event was at night so they turned on their fountain and the outdoor lights. The facility does have a kitchen with ice maker, freezer, refrigerator, sink etc. We didn't need to prepare any food but the kitchen looks equipped to do so. They had tables and chairs included in the rental fee. They did require that we hire security which increased the cost of renting the facility. We had no need for security and I would recommend that they reevaluate this requirement depending on the event. I would recommend that you call them early and make sure you follow up with them if you don't hear back.

I walked into a space that is smaller than some larger Japanese gardens, but the layout feels carefully planned with winding paths, traditional landscaping, a koi pond, waterfalls, bridges, and quiet corners throughout. It is the type of place where taking your time matters more than trying to see everything quickly, and the smaller size actually makes the experience feel more intimate. The garden feels like a world apart from the campus surrounding it, and the transition from the university grounds to the garden is immediate and effective. The koi pond is easily the centerpiece of the garden and one of the most enjoyable parts to spend time around. I found myself lingering by the water, watching the fish move through the pond as the sunlight filtered through the trees. The fish are large and active, and the surrounding greenery, stone features, and water elements create a very relaxing atmosphere. The garden does a good job balancing natural scenery with traditional Japanese design, with each section offering a slightly different view and feeling as I walked through. The bridges and stone lanterns add to the sense of place, and the sound of the waterfalls creates a calming background that stays with you as you move through the space. What I liked most about this garden is how calm it feels despite being located on a college campus. It feels separated from the surrounding area once you enter, making it a nice place for a quiet walk, photography, or just taking a break. The landscaping is well maintained, and the entire space has a slower pace that encourages you to actually stop and appreciate the details rather than rushing through. The garden's design rewards a slow approach, with each turn in the path offering a slightly different perspective on the pond, the plants, and the stonework. The visit is fairly quick since the garden is compact, but it works well as a relaxing stop rather than a destination that takes up an entire afternoon. Reservations are required, so it is worth checking availability before going. Admission is free, although parking is an extra cost and can be the main inconvenience, especially during busy campus hours. The garden's location on campus makes it accessible, but the parking situation can require a bit of patience. Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden is a beautiful spot if you are looking for a peaceful escape rather than a large attraction. The koi pond, thoughtful design, and quiet atmosphere make it a place worth visiting, especially on a nice day when you can take your time walking through the garden. It offers a brief but meaningful pause from the surrounding city and campus life, and the care that has gone into maintaining the space is evident in every corner.

My wife and I discovered The Modern during a special event right before I proposed, and we knew that if we ever got married, this would be the place. Following our engagement, we had a tour of the place with Mary, and we were 1000% convinced with the place since Mary came with the package lol. The communication throughout the course of our planning was outstanding, and both Abel and Mary addressed all our inquiries and concerns without hesitation and with clear answers. While the conditions of the contract initially seemed rigid, all guidelines and expectations were stated clearly, and both Abel and Mary provided all the support necessary to ensure the vendors understood and executed per the contract accordingly. All terms of the pricing were transparent, and we found the costs to be worth every penny, as we were 1000% satisfied with the venue. Through the course of our two-year planning, Abel and Mary were available and offered the walkthroughs necessary for the vendors and us to plan accordingly and execute an impeccably perfect wedding. Mary did an outstanding job and exerted so much patience with both my Wife and I through the course of food and drink tasting. She assessed our preferences and perfected our specialty cocktails and food menu to reflect my wife, our guests, and I. We appreciated the opportunity to host our rehearsal brunch at their Kitchen and Bar located below the venue. Our guests enjoyed getting a small taste of the delicious food and drinks they'd be having the following day at the actual wedding. The day of the wedding could not have unfolded so perfectly, both aesthetically and logistically. Abel and Mary coordinated and collaborated in unison with our group of vendors, and they really outdid themselves by providing the foundation to our dream wedding, literally. They did an amazing and efficient job at flipping the venue space for the reception. All while our guests were enjoying themselves in the lavish lounge during cocktail hour. The venue itself is perfect. It is very modern, clean, spacious, classy, and their furniture and greenery were the perfect accessories necessary to complete our wedding day. And that's not all. The VIEWS are one of a kind as the venue has an entire wall space made up of windows that overlooks Long Beach Airport and an outdoor terrace that allowed us and our guests to enjoy the views. We literally had airplanes flying up and down during our entire wedding, with a grand exit of us flying off in a helicopter. My wife, our guests, and I cannot believe how perfect the entire day turned out. They will not stop raving about how perfect and beautiful everything turned out. From the food to the drinks and the wonderful bartenders, and of course to how magically, beautiful our wedding was. None of which would have been possible without the fantastic venue, Abel, Mary and their team. While we are saddened to turn the chapter from the wedding planning and wedding, we are so so so happy we chose The Modern. We booked several months in advance and planned to set up at 10:30 am for our 2pm start, so there was no rush or stress. We had no problems with access. However, I received a text the morning of the party that the balloon arch people canceled, but they were working to find a replacement. My sister arrived early to set up but couldn't find any table linens. It was only when I inquired that I was told that that vendor had also canceled. They assured me a backup supplier would be coming. I was also informed that the ice and drinks would be arriving between 1:30-2pm, while my party was supposed to start at 2!! The catered food arrived at 1:30pm as planned, but we couldn't set anything up because there were no linens. Guests started arriving prior to 2 pm, and NOTHING was set up. I asked them to make themselves comfortable at empty tables and handed out water bottles while we scrambled in our dresses! This was the first celebration ever where guests had to decorate their own tables! With everyone's help, we were able to get the party started at 2:45. This is hardly what I envisioned for such a special occasion. It was by far the worst party planning experience I've ever had compared to several company functions I've coordinated for over 400 guests! The floors could really use a deep clean, and the bathroom had an ick factor. Definitely could use help with cleanliness and esthetics. The pictures online are truly misleading. I suggest you have your own contingency plans and prepare for the worst, which is what I experienced, unfortunately. The $100 refund hardly covered the disaster and stress.

Operationally, she kept every ball in the air without ever seeming stressed. Her vendor recommendations alone were worth their weight in gold. Every partner she suggested was excellent, clearly vetted, and a great fit for what we wanted, and her relationships with them often meant preferred rates we never would have gotten on our own. She essentially paid for herself. And when we hit decision fatigue (which happens more than you'd think), she knew exactly how to help us cut through it. We genuinely looked forward to our calls with her, and her follow-up meant nothing ever got lost in the shuffle. Planning a wedding with her felt less like a job and more like working with a friend who happens to be scarily organized. On the day itself, she was a rockstar. It was all thanks to Megan and Marni and the whole So Smitten team. They are incredible. When we first met with So Smitten, Megan walked us through a massive planning document that addressed every component of a wedding. There were so many little things that I would never think about. Their organization blew me out of the water, I immediately knew the So Smitten team would be a great match for us. When we started planning, my wife and I had a very abstract idea of what we wanted. Megan and Marni took our idea and ran with it. They took our really rough vision and perfected it. It was amazing to see the plan evolve during our regular zoom calls. We were also shocked to see that they took notes on EVERYTHING! There were so many little things we mentioned once and forgot about that, months later, found their way into the plan. They also kept us on track through the whole process. They would make a to do list for us at the end of every meeting of what we we need to do and when we need to do it by. That really removed a lot of stress from our lives. The So Smitten team has so many connections for: Photographers, Videographers, DJs, Bands, Flowers, Design, Rentals, everything you need. They made it really easy compare vendors and find the ones that we liked to work with. Later, when all our vendors were trying to check in with us in the weeks leading to the wedding, Megan and Marni took on a bunch of the meetings and contract stuff for us. That removed so much of our stress and let us we could worry about getting our family and friends to the event. Letting them take on all the contracts and negotiations also ended up helping us save about 3-4x the amount we paid So Smitten by finding different alternatives for power, DJs, etc. Leading into the wedding everyone told me to just relax WHEN things go wrong and let the planners and coordinators handle it. Megan and her team were so on top of things that we didn't even notice any issues coming up. My wife and I kept joking "Ok, when is this big issue going to finally arise?" It never really did. At least not to our knowledge. Megan, Marni and the So Smitten team are incredible. We are recommending them to everyone. They took out ALL the stress from wedding planning. I really have no idea how I would have handled it if we didn't find So Smitten!
