Classic food. Great ambience. Really enjoyed all of it. Happy hour and this meal forced me into an afternoon nap. Chili relleno was excellent.

El Felix has a long, long history. We went so often that Olivia, the owner got to know us! The food and the patio have made it a family favorite for a long time! But Olivia retired, the restaurant closed for a while , and now there are new owners. But they have remodeled, which is a good thing! They say the recipes are the same but the food is a little different. But that's ok, cause the food is still really good! Glenda got chicken quesadillas, and I got the supreme nachos. Both were excellent. Glenda has also tried the green sauce enchiladas, and I tried the Olivia's plate, both very good. There is a new bar, so you can have a margarita! And nothing beats a beautiful evening on the courtyard patio. It's just beautiful! Y'all come eat!

My parents brought myself & siblings here in the 70's. This place is nostalgic with complimentary upgrades in decor, seating & lighting. The staff & service are spot on...friendly, prompt & all appear genuinely happy to be here. Owner & manager both actively involved in the business, delivering food/drinks to tables. Friendly laid back ambiance. Available seating in the courtyard with live music on Thursday nights. Thank you for bringing El Fenix back!!

I never eat the entire plate......I did today

After years of receiving consistently amazing breakfast burritos, La Pop deserves 5 stars. I have…read moreyet to find a better breakfast burrito even outside of Abilene at this point. I get chorizo, bacon, and egg burritos every time! Phenomenal! I always order two for myself portion size wise. Their tortillas are delicious and clearly homemade. Aside from their breakfast tacos, their crunchy beef tacos are great and a favorite of mine! Service is always friendly. It's a busy spot! The line goes out to the road in the mornings and the parking lot is always full, but I don't mind the wait since the food is worth it.

I can honestly say that they reminded me of South Texas, a real deep tradition made way. While enjoying my food I couldn't help but notice the amount of patrons waiting to pick up orders and lining up the drive thru. A real indication of how popular this place is...the amount of people speaks volumes of the food served here. The second day I had a gordita and a quesadilla along with some more agua fresca. Quesadilla was not bad and the gordita was pretty good. The agua frescas are very addictive as they are so rich with real fruit flavors. If I ever find myself in Abilene again I will definitely make it a point to stop here and indulge in there food and drinks.

We ordered the Head Honcho nachos and left two thirds of the dish untouched. So very disappointed as well as dissatisfied with the service, the food and the drink quality.

The birria tacos were very tasty but I feel they were small and I only got two, I felt there should have been three. Three is what I usually get at other restaurants so maybe it's more of a mindset for me. The service was questionable. There was a young girl taking the orders and she was good in the register and I could tell she knew the menu which I appreciated. While my friend and I ordered our food, I saw maybe one half smile and she amended a total of 6 times during the order. Yes, I began counting after the first. She seemed to be a good worker as I watched her fill the ice machines and clean tables etc... I just felt she was lacking in customer interaction. She seemed like she didn't want to be there. The restaurant itself was clean and the cooks were working hard to get food out. It was all out in a timely manner. The bartender seemed to know his clientele and was having multiple conversations with them while serving drinks. This tells me it was a regular watering hole for locals. I have also been to the Judge Ely location and my advice is, if you're looking to take your kids or have a little family time, the Judge Ely location is the place to go. If you're looking to take a date out or have drinks and good food with a group of friends then this Turner Plaza location is the place to be.
