Somehow we happened to become regulars at El Fornet while were staying in Barcelona.
Not wanting to invest in the breakfast at the hotel, we tried a few places nearby, and El Fornet was the one where we felt most comfortable.
Firstly, because we saw that people were standing in line to buy cakes and sandwiches there, and that is always a good sign if there are lots of similar venues to choose from.
Secondly, because of the interior, it reminded me of the big old Hungarian cafés from my childhood with the retro lamps and the wooden tables, except that everything we ate and drank (mostly sandwiches, coffee and freshly made orange juice) was absolutely delicious and the service was really friendly, breaking the language barrier in a somewhat unusually successful way.
And thirdly, because we also discovered that there is a lot of space in the back, that is absolutely not overcrowded and would be perfect for a meeting, working, or - in our case - planning your next trip. read more
