This was my first time at the yellow bus. I got 12 pieces of chicken w/ sides for $11. Great food, great price! I will definitely be back!

I've lost count of how many times I've been here, so this review is long overdue…read more Yes, it's inside a gas station (Pitstop Express), but don't let that fool you. Some of the best food spots hide behind gas pumps, and this is one of those spots. The chicken stays consistent every single time. Finding good fried chicken in Houston is strangely harder than it should be, so I usually end up frying my own. But here? The chicken is seasoned, fried fresh to order, and just... good. Like, no gimmicks, just good chicken. Ordering is simple: place it at the counter, pay at the register, hand your ticket back, and then wait about 15 minutes for your food. And they've got fried okra, which always hits. The cooks keep the vibes up. It's all takeout; no seating so while you wait, browse the snack shelves. You'll probably spot something you haven't seen since childhood (depending on how far back your childhood goes). They also serve breakfast but Ive only had the chicken. This is definitely a go too when simple wing craving kicks in and I don't wanna cook.

The wait was incredibly long even though they weren't busy, but the workers were kind and gave us beverages while we waited. Overall the establishment was clean and the food was good. Not my favorite chicken spot but I'm not against trying them again.

We visited on a Saturday around 8:30 pm and were seated right away. The place was lively but still had some open tables. Service was quick and genuinely great throughout the meal. We ordered enchiladas and the chicken, which is their specialty. The chicken was incredibly fragrant and juicy. While it didn't quite live up to how I remembered it from years ago, it was still very good. It might have been because we came a bit closer to closing time, but overall it was still satisfying. The sides, Spanish rice and refried beans were delicious. And the chips and salsa were fresh and flavorful. Overall, still a great spot that's worth coming back to.

The food was okay, the refried beans were good, the guacamole is good, the charro beans did need some salt, the rice was okay. The chicken is another story. The chicken did not look like the pictures on here and it definitely was not grilled. It looked like unseasoned raw chicken. We had to put it in the air fryer to get some color on it. We were on the hunt for a new chicken place, but I just might forgive our usual spot after this. I'm done trying to replace it lol.

There is no streetside taqueria in the Edgebrook taco scene that is more famous than El Borrego…read more (#1) While other taco trucks are closing at 3AM, they remain open 24 hours a day and have more staff preparing food than anywhere else. Other places operate as a cart or a truck, but El Borrego is operating out of full fledged bus in a church parking lot. With bright lights and more parking spaces, people flock here more than the rest of the competition. Just sitting in the lot and observing will see plenty of in and out traffic, as appetites and people are buzzing at all hours of the night and day. They even have a handwashing station, which is pretty awesome. Overall, the food is solid. While I've been known to rock a barbacoa and chicharron taco here and there, I especially appreciate the fact they have carne deshebrada (shredded meat), molleja (sweetbreads), longaniza (spicy pork sausage), and milanesa (breaded cutlet) meats. Between 5AM-11AM daily, they also offer breakfast tacos. Site note: I appreciate that they have a handwashing station, despite not having any place to sit (#2). There are also Mexican style hamburgers, piratas + gringa super tacos, tostadas, gorditas, sopes, burritos, and quesadillas. They all have a place for cravings sake, but don't supplant what's available taco wise. A woman constantly shouting orders from the window of the truck. This is 100% part of the experience and should be embraced at all costs. That being said, a lot of people are still confused because they can't (always) understand what she's saying. At $2.50 for corn, $2.75 for flour tacos, it has become standard pricing in the area. It's not the cheapest or the tastiest tacos, but seeing as other competitors have masked their prices, I am appreciative of the transparency. Charro beans are no longer offered for free, at $1 a cup. It is strictly cash only. With bright lights and more parking spaces, people flock here more than the rest of the competition. It is cash only. They get a point for consistency and another nod for longevity, which says a lot in a place that is as saturated as Houston. __________ (#1) For locals arguing noting Taconmadre, they've since become a full fledged restaurant with a drive-thru. Keyword here is "streetside" i.e. de la calle~ (#2) Everyone eats inside or on their cars.
