Came here for the first time in years and it brought back a lot of memories because I used to come with my parents for their charbroiled chicken. We visited on a Saturday around 8:30 pm and were seated right away. The place was lively but still had some open tables. Service was quick and genuinely great throughout the meal. We ordered enchiladas and the chicken, which is their specialty. The chicken was incredibly fragrant and juicy. While it didn't quite live up to how I remembered it from years ago, it was still very good. It might have been because we came a bit closer to closing time, but overall it was still satisfying. The sides, Spanish rice and refried beans were delicious. And the chips and salsa were fresh and flavorful. Overall, still a great spot that's worth coming back to. read more

I ordered the 12 piece chicken special online. They were very friendly, they greet you when you come in. Customer service alone is 5 stars. The food was okay, the refried beans were good, the guacamole is good, the charro beans did need some salt, the rice was okay. The chicken is another story. The chicken did not look like the pictures on here and it definitely was not grilled. It looked like unseasoned raw chicken. We had to put it in the air fryer to get some color on it. We were on the hunt for a new chicken place, but I just might forgive our usual spot after this. I'm done trying to replace it lol. read more

This restaurant was amazing! It's designed as a kind of sportsbar with big tvs and tables to fit large groups. They have great servers and cooks! The food is sooo good! The have margaritas too that are too tasty! My burrito was sooo huge i had to save half for the next day. My sons tacos were a set of five and they were full of chicken and steak! He loved them. This is my first experience here and would I go back? Yes. But... Let me explain my three star rating. I placed an online order and planned to get there around the time that it should've been ready as it quoted me 25 minutes. When I got there, the front desk was worked by was seem to be teenagers or really young adults. Not that that's an issue, but I think sometimes the way things can be handled depends on the maturity of people. (Let me be clear, they were really nice at the front desk.) But the order was not prepared because although my payment went through, something was wrong with their online system and they never received the order. But as I was leaving, something told me to check my order before I left, but I was just really ready to go, so I didn't. I should have. When I got to the house, I realized my order was wrong. Here is what I ordered: an 8-piece chicken meal with rice and refried beans. A kid's meal with a chicken quesadilla and fries. And one carne asada taco. I did not receive fries. The quesadilla was just cheese and the refried beans were the charro beans. Again, not too happy about that but I was just really interested in the chicken at this point. The chicken itself was beautiful. Very juicy, nice presentation in my opinion. And it looked like it had a lot of flavor. But when I tasted it, it didn't have as much flavor as I thought it would. It wasn't bland by any means, but just the way that it looked, I expected a little bit more of a punch than it actually gave. But I think paired with other things as maybe people eating it more as a Taco (adding onion, cilantro and the sauce) and not just regular chicken as I would eat it then I can see why it may not have too much flavor. Maybe not to make it too salty. But paired with the rice, the chicken and rice was a really good combination. The taco was delicious. I love the green and red sauce. And with the cheese quesadilla, I'm sure it would've tasted great if I added some of the chicken in there, but I ate the quesadilla in the car lol. But even that was still good for what it was. So would I be back? Yes. But I think I'll call and order instead of doing it online if I don't just decide to go in and eat. Or if I do decide to do a to-go order, I'll have to check my orders from now on. read more

What is it with all of the sudden me eating at Mexican restaurants? I don't like Mexican food I tell ya. My friends know it, my mother knows even I know it but you know what? I think I've been getting introduced to the right places finally. Hole in wall, well kind of, this place is in the parking lot of a dying or dilapidated strip center with rough parking lot but do not let that deter you. As you walk towards the entrance you will notice on your left a sigh that says something to the tune of "16 pieces of chicken, 8 sides ". I forgot what the exact price is but it comes to about $20, HARD TO BEAT! I was kidnapped here from my day job near by kicking and screaming "nooooooooo, noooo Mexcan food!" but three fellow co wokers dropped me at the table, menu at hand and that was it. After removing the cloth bag from around my head I looked around, kind of dark place but nothing to deter, the smell of the food inside reassured me that there is care in their cooking. I looked at the menu after being distracted by about 10 tv's on the wall, ok maybe there were like 8 but who's counting? Everything on the menu is very reasonable, I stopped counting after seeing 5 items that were around the $5 range and figured that this is a blue collar working man's lunch budget deal. My friend told me to not worry about anything on there as I snap pictures of the menu for future reference and said that we are having chicken....ok I didn't really want chicken, I was going to pay for myself but I had to remember who kidnapped me. There were 4 of us mind you, two bakets of chips came out along with the usual salsas, they seemed home made and were good to hold over until..................THE CHICKEN. Eight pieces of marinaded, oven cooked 2 hoe chickens cut into a total of 16 pieces....ok they weren't hoe's, anyways then came 4 dishes of rice, 4 dishes of charro beans...or were they barracho beans? Seem the same to me but they were pretty good! I don't care for beans either, neither do people that ride elevators with me, have I got a surprise for my co workers on the way back. Anyways and not to be finished two little baskets of grilled onions came to the side as well and two tortilla baskets of corn tortillas. I think I took a picture and uploaded to the restaurants pic portfolio. Verdict: I am a fan, I like it, the chicken might not have been on the "fall off the bone" but the flavor, the sides, the price $20, that's a lot of food that was in front of us for just $20! I will definitely be back with my troops in tow (growing teenager and daughter) to feast and beats the "tired of routine" ci ci's pizza. $20 make me holla, lots of boom boom in this establishment me so hawngry. read more

We have been here a few times and it is always consistently good. They serve Monterrey Style chicken which is essentially seasoned really well and char grilled over an open flame. The chicken is always great. You will get your standard chips and salsa which is served warm and you also get a bottle of salsa verde too which is quite spicy! The must order here is the 16 piece special which comes with 4 sides of frijoles a la charra and 4 sides of mexican rice corn tortillas and 2 whole cooked onions! It is lovely! My only thing that keeps me from giving 5 stars is that the salsa is good but it is always not the same recipe sometimes chunky and sometimes it is runny, but hats off to them for making it homemade. You can expect a good meal here for a good price. Do stop in if you are ever in the Almeda Mall area! read more

I ordered the enchiladas, and litterally wiped the plate clean it was THAT good! My bf ordered the torta, that was really good too, however , i indulged in that enchilada! Service was on point ! This place is primarily a chicken joint, hence the name "Rey Del Pollo" (King of Chicken). It is an authentic Mexican restaurant (not Tex-Mex) and it has a bit of everything. From tacos to chicken, this restaurant is well rounded as far as the menu goes regardless of it being primarily a chicken place. My favorite, and most underrated feat of this restaurant, is the "hamburgesa grande" (big burger). It is big. Very big. It's big enough to fill two people. If that's not enough, it comes with fries, and it is all for $6. The burger itself is very tasty. It's a Mexican style burger with ham, cheese, meat patty, and all the other stuff that makes a burger a burger. The service is top-notch. I eat here often with my co workers and I cannot comment on any of the other food because I haven't even looked at a menu here because we always get the family chicken dinner. It is DELICIOUS! Always served hot, prepared and seasoned perfectly. The meat almost falls off the bone. It comes with tortillas, beans and rice. I do not eat the beans because I believe they are cooked with pork but that rice, oh my goodness that rice. Who knew rice could taste so good. Besides the taste, the prices are very reasonable and worth every penny. We always end up bringing back leftovers as well. I've read and heard on numerous occassions about the horrible service, but thought that since I was regular, this was NEVER going to happen. I thought wrong. I came here this afternoon with my sister and upon entering the restaurant, it was only 20% full. The cashier at the front greeted us kindly and said we were welcome to grab any seats. We sat in the booth next to the entrance and noticed none of the tables were bused. Five minutes passed by and we waited patiently for someone to notice us. That they did. In fact one of the employees came over and cleaned our table and walked off. Two parties had arrived a few minutes after we did and were served immediately. We attempted to flag down someone, but no one noticed us, except the cashier up front. After ten minutes had pass, we decided to head over to Del Sol instead. As busy as Del Sol is, they still manage to serve you in the order you came in. Now it's as true as other reviewers say, the service is bad and I don't plan on returning ever again. read more

Well... 2 times... not again 1 time.. got the mixed plato somthing like 40 dollars..what i got Looked like a half order of over cooked meat and with extra hotdogs... 2 time...went Wednesday night about 730pm Maybe 4-5 tables with people at them.. - forgot some drinks... -I ask the waitress what was the special. Her reply was "i don't know.." really? She looked on the walls couldnt find it... said "it was probably a lunch special or something..." - chips came looked half full like someone recycled left over chips onto us... 1 small salas cup for 4 people. We finished them i asked for more chips since our 2 girls had just got done at the gym..
