    Ensalada de Pulpo con Tostones

Excellent! We had a party of 10. We arrived at 4:30 and ordered drinks and appetizers. We told our server that we were in a bit of a rush. We ordered and the food came out quick and delicious. The owner came by and was really sweet (good looking, too). We ordered the sampler appetizer platter that had Croquettas de Jamón, Empanadillas de Pizza, Barrigas de Vieja, Empanadillas de carne, and Pasteles. The pumpkin fritters (barrigas) and pizza empanadas were delish. I tasted a corner of the Pastel (they have meat in the middle and I'm a veggie) and the "masa" was outstanding. Everyone raved about them and apparently this place is famous for them. My mom ordered the Sancocho and she said it was very flavorful. I ordered the Octopus salad with Tostones. The Octopus was cooked perfectly - nice and tender. The Tostones were not frozen and also tasty. I'll definitely be back!

We were looking for authentic Puerto rican food. This place had few but great reviews. Its in a residential area and one might feel lost finding it. We met the owner and he personally sat with us told us his story. He played us a few local songs on his guitar. Great hospitality. I had fish which I can surely say was the best fish I ever had along with a mashed plantain side. The home made sangria was perfect. For desert we had almond cheese custard and guava cheese cake. The quantity and taste were amazing. They have a new menu every day but they are flexible to cater to your special needs. Its definately a place to visit when in Puerto Rico.

So on our first night in the PR, we definitely wanted some authentic Puerto Rican food and with no recommendations, I resulted to what I know and did some Yelp searching. Not far from us was Toston Jibareño. As soon as we entered, I knew we were in the right place. The place has a decent amount of people inside so I knew it had to be ok. The menu has items I wasn't familiar with, but I went with what I thought I knew. Let me just say everything we ordered was spot on authentic to what I know. The pork chops was out of this world. The mofongo's and tostones brought back memories, the skirt steak was so tender and they did not have arroz con gondules, but instead arroz con habichuelas which are beans and I can't eat beans. It was a great first night. As much as I would love to come back,I have to try different places and different things, but if you are a local and haven't been here or a tourist and want good PR food, this is a great first stop.

This 12-seated Chef's Table is an experience and conversation with those around you as well as with the food that speaks volumes while allowing you to be curious. Chef Antonio makes this experience extremely welcoming and accessible for anyone from all walks of life. Sarah made our day when she was so kind in emails leading up to potentially attending the November Cheese month. I had emailed her to see if there were two spots available and she put us on her list and crossed her fingers for us! When we got the email that two spots had opened (on our wedding day) it was the most beautiful gift to us! Sarah continued to be warm, welcoming, and connective on a human to human level. Antonio took us on a journey of the ingredients and how cheese was highlighted in each dish, not to mention the wine pairing that Sarah would create to emphasize each flavor! Truly one of the biggest highlights of our trip! Beyond grateful that we were able to experience the creation and knowledge of these two.

I was on line with a bunch of people who knew what they came for: good old Puerto Rican cuisine. I went for the pork stuffed with yuca. In was covered in bacon. What a delight!!! I have never tried this and was ecstatic at the combination of flavors. I had two more carbs as side dishes as if that was not enough. Yuca frita fríes and arroz con longaniza. I was in heaven. I was told by saint Peter that this will be served in the heavenly banquet. I was well beyond full from the serving size but not ashamed of the generosity of their service. Nice spot to enjoy a meal after a tour at Casa Bacardi…read more Service can be a bit slow but it's a pleasant atmosphere. Actually, the service can be excruciatingly slow. Even though we were one of the few people eating here after our Bacardi tour late in the afternoon it seemed the staff here could care less about being attentive and checking up on us. It's too bad as the food and drinks here are pretty good. Very nice decor with plenty of seating. I had the Fish & Chips - Fried Mako Shark served w/Plantain Chips & Lemon-Recao Mayo - and it was pretty good but I wish the portion served was a bit larger for the price. Still, not bad. The prices were pretty high in my opinion but from what I recall of the freshness & taste, it was worth the price. Go here, you won't be disappointed.
