Casita Miramar absolutely lived up to the hype. It was at the top of my foodie list while visiting San Juan, Puerto Rico, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. We visited on a Monday night without a reservation and almost didn't get a table. The hostess was incredibly kind and explained that there was an 8:00 p.m. reservation that hadn't been confirmed. She offered to seat us if the party didn't arrive within the grace period. Thankfully, they never showed up, and the table became ours. From that point on, everything was fantastic. The food was spectacular, and the service was just as impressive. Every dish was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. The restaurant itself is charming and inviting--it really does feel like dining in a cozy "casita." If you're visiting San Juan, Casita Miramar is absolutely worth a visit. Great food, excellent service, and a memorable dining experience.
I came here with a large group and we were happy to be seated in a private room. The menu here was simple but each dish was well executed. This restaurant would be a good first stop for authentic local cuisine. My favorites: * Skirt steak with rice and beans * Pork riblets with honey and rum * Fried cheese topped with a fruit sauce * Avocado-tomato salad * Drunken chicken made from local beer and honey * Chocolate cake with ice cream * Goat cheese and honey flan The only dishes I did not like were ones with octopus in them, like the Chorizo and Octopus Stew and the Seaside Salad. The octopus was chewy and rock hard in both. One person from our group was a vegetarian. Although there was no vegetarian entree on the menu, the staff made her a big plate of delicious cilantro rice with a large side of the avocado-tomato salad and fried plantains. Those of us who were not vegetarians liked her dish so much that we had to order a second plate for her. My only feedback for Casita Miramar is that they should answer their phones and E-mails. I had left multiple messages on voicemail and E-mail in both English and Spanish to modify a reservation, but those were never answered. I guess you will just have to stick with whatever the online Resy system gives you.
The food service and ambiance were impeccable. I love how we were brought the starter to the table as a customary, I enjoyed the soup a lot it was very fresh, had a lot of flavor and served hot. I was very excited to get the (2lb) whole fish entrée, the salted seasoning was delicious and the sauce was such a nice touch. The fish was cooked perfectly, it surpassed my expectations! Our waiter was amazing, so friendly, very attentive despite the restaurant being (almost) entirely full. We had a late reservation yet there were still many tables completely full, a great sign this is a well-established restaurant. I also ordered the Miramar Spritz as a drink, all I can say is wow so refreshing, the sweet yet tart grapefruit with prosecco is a great pair and to top it off with ginger and lime was the perfect touch. A great cocktail I definitely recommend getting. Casita Miramar was an excelled choice for our first night in San Juan, I would love to dine here again as we had such an amazing experience!
We were so fortunate to be able to eat here since we didn't do a reservation! We got a table in a cute little nook and first were served a complementary soup that was AMAZING. I'd say the service was island style- but the folks were lovely and we weren't in a rush anyways. How can you be while you're on vacation? The empanada de jefe was great- but the star of the dish was the side. I'm in love with their mamposteado rice. Just wow. My partner also liked his carne frita! The pork was cooked well. We also ordered cocktails and enjoyed those. Well definitely head back next time we're in Puerto Rico!
We decided on this spot based on seeing 2k reviews on Yelp - must be a good place to try! We made a reservation and I am glad we did! When we made it to the restaurant, it was packed. This restaurant is located in the Miramar neighborhood of San Juan and is one of the most gorgeous buildings I have ever seen. It is so unique on both the inside and the outside. Each area within the restaurant is a little different. We were placed in the area by the bar - not ideal due to the amount of foot traffic from patrons and staff but still fine. For our appetizer, we ordered queso frito. This is, as described, fried rectangular logs of cheese. They top it with what appears to be seasonal fruit preserves, which added a nice combination of flavors. That being said, there is only so much to enjoy about fried cheese logs. I ordered the sangria blanca, which was absolutely divine. This is what I recommend for anyone who is considering it. My partner got one of their mocktails, which he enjoyed. For our entrees, we both got the Churrasco steak based on the reviews. You can add me to the list, get the churrasco steak. It is a skirt steak and they prepare and cook it so well. It comes with a green churrasco sauce as well as a large portion of mampotsea, which is like rice and beans. We had so much food that we were able to take leftovers and enjoyed them as our dinner the next night. Definitely worth a stop in - it lives up to the hype in my opinion. Make sure to get a reservation.

We were welcomed with a small cup of the soup of the day, followed by a local cod fritter in place of traditional bread service. It's a unique and very Puerto Rican touch that sets the tone. Service * Warm welcome and thoughtful touches from the start * Efficient pacing despite a busy dining room * Overall attentive and professional Drinks * Conflicto - their take on a piña colada/painkiller-style cocktail; enjoyable but leaned a bit too sweet Food * Fried Pork Chunks (Lechón-style) - crispy, flavorful, and very well executed * Catch of the Day (Mahi-Mahi) - beautifully cooked filet over mashed root vegetables with a beurre blanc sauce; easily the standout dish of the trip The food is the clear star here. Flavors feel authentic, confident, and well-balanced without being overcomplicated. Verdict Casita Miramar delivers a memorable Puerto Rican dinner experience--unique welcome touches, strong execution in the kitchen, and a lively atmosphere. An absolute masterclass in elevated dining. We had the pleasure of dining here on the final night of the Bad Bunny residency in Puerto Rico, and despite the city being at full capacity and our party being a large group the administration and staff executed everything with precision and grace. That level of service alone sets this place apart. The cocktail program was exceptional refined, balanced, and thoughtfully crafted. While I didn't capture every drink by name (the evening moved fast, in the best way), the quality and presentation were unmistakably top-tier. The food was outstanding: bold flavors, beautiful plating, and a clear attention to detail in every dish. This is the kind of dining experience where presentation, taste, and atmosphere are perfectly aligned. The photos truly speak for themselves. This is not just a restaurant it's an experience. Without question, this has become a non-negotiable stop every time I'm in Puerto Rico. Polished, memorable, and worth every moment. Refined dining with unforgettable energy. Highly recommended.
Delicious and worth coming to, I'll be dreaming of the seafood salad until the day I die. Huge chunks of octopus in this amazing citrusy marinade. We also had the churrasco which came with this amazing green chimichurri like sauce. If you want authentic delicious puerto rican food, I recommend!
Excellent dinner . We made reservations the same evening and were given a beautiful private room for our large party We had the best server . J forgot her name but she was deaf and was probably one of the best servers I've had in my entire 50 years of life . lol Food was great Drinks were great
First meal I had after arriving at Puerto Rico since I was told this was an old PR classic. A little upscale for celebrations / special occasions and not too "touristy" despite being in a tourist location I got the cabrito (stewed goat) and really enjoyed the rich flavor from the spices incorporated. A tad salty for me but I loved the huge portion! The beans on the side were my favorite on the plate though - super hearty and warm. The entire plate paired well with the mojito I ordered. I ended the meal with a tres leches cake and was so glad I saved room for dessert. The sponge was perfectly soaked with the sweet and creamy milk blend and I demolished everything in 2minutes I think Service was impeccable and they took great care of me even though I was alone
Complimentary bread and soup was good. The soup tastes like a vegetable porridge. The bread was salty but reminds me of Asian shrimp cracker bread. Carne Frita, 4/5: Crispy outside and tender, I will say it almost has a dry texture outside. The plantain flats are very good--I hate plantains but they knocked it out the park. It's not sweet, similar to a flat bread but very crispy. The onion is sweet, such a good combo! Pastelon, 5/5: It's minced beef served inside a plantain. Soooo good! The beef taste is very subtle and the plantain adds a nice sweet taste. Probably everyone's favorite fish. Cabrito, 4.5/5: Didn't really like it at first since the goat's aftertaste is pungent, but the more I ate it, it goes away esp with the rice, potatoes, and carrots. It's very hearty and umami. Inside is very moody and romantic. They also serve free alcoholic shots when you get your check. Service is also great and they speak English.
A gem. Sat outside & had a great night. Food, vibes, & service were all wonderful. Started out with a complimentary soup & cod fritters (yummmy! & I don't even like fish, usually). The hot sauce on the table was nice, not too hot but a good kick, I usually do not like habanero based hot sauces but this was good! The Queso Frito was interesting in flavors & textures, delicious. El Conflicto was perfect, all the flavor of a pina colada but without the heaviness of syrups & sugar. The Pollo Borracho was super flavorful & filling, chicken cooked to perfection falling off the bone. My fiancé had the Carne Frita, it was super tender & a well balanced dish. Service was friendly & attentive. My only complaint- we were so full we couldn't even look at the dessert menu! Guess we will just have to go back.
First of all, this place is incredible inside. Don't let them seat you upstairs--ask for the basement. The whole vibe feels like something straight out of From Dusk Till Dawn: a church-like atmosphere with deep red walls, smoky cocktails, and little alcoves carved into the stone like they've been there for centuries. Downstairs, the eclectic playlist sets the tone immediately--salsa rhythms and warm energy hit you the moment you walk in. Now, the food. I went with the pounded tenderloin served with rice, beans, and an avocado salad. Everything was top-tier, and each flavor complemented the others perfectly. I highly recommend stopping by and giving this place a try. Delicious.

Had a wonderful time at Casita Miramar. Aalyah, our server did an amazing job of being able to communicate and inform us about the dishes and accommodate anything we needed. Aalyah, thank you so much for making our last meal in San Juan so special!! The portions are huge! I split an app with 3 people and honestly the main dishes can be split among two people as well. It was very tasty especially the chicken, and the ribs! The place also looked amazing and we were given a semi-private room for such a large group. Thanks for having us!! read more

The workers were honestly the sweetest. the environment is so welcoming and calm. although i wasn't very happy with the food. i went with my family and we found the food very bland and overpriced!! my mom LOVES cooking and she could tell when frozen beans are served to her. the food tasted old and the rice look like it was reheated from days ago.. definitely might be a tourist trap. the aesthetics are beautiful but isn't worth the price. on the good side, they sell natural juices and the parcha juice was the best i ever had!! read more
For my last night in Puerto Rico, I wanted to go all out, and I ended up somewhere pretty special. Casita Miramar sits in a gorgeous old villa in the Miramar neighborhood, all hanging plants, twinkle lights, and vintage furniture, and the décor and ambiance alone had me sold before the food even showed up. I sat at the bar, and the staff absolutely made the night. Insanely nice and receptive, they talked with me the entire time, made recommendations, walked me through the dishes and the culture behind them, and kept the strong drinks coming, which I will never complain about. That kind of hospitality is rare and I can't say enough about it. Now for my one nitpick, and this is a me problem more than a them problem: I don't totally love Puerto Rican food. This is authentic comida criolla, which pulls from Caribbean, Latin American, and Spanish influences all at once, and my picky palate keeps asking what exactly it's trying to be. But the vibes, the people, and the setting made the whole experience more than worth it. Come for the criollo cooking, stay for one of the warmest rooms in San Juan. read more

I still dream about this place! From the moment we arrived it was everything. The interior decor was so beautifully themed i couldn't stop taking pictures. The staff were nice & attentive. We received complimentary bacalaitos & plantain soup. My best friend and I were afraid to ask for more it was sooooo good! Omg! The Drunken Chicken was tender, juicy, and hearty. The Cabrito was to die for. Who knew goat stew was so flavorful and delicious. Tres leche was good & extremely moody. Our drinks packed a good punch. We really enjoyed ourselves here for dinner in San Jusn. read more
What a unique location. This place is so big, you literally get lost going to the bathroom. It's like a mini adventure lol. Every room has unique decor & the whole place is low lit which definitely adds a nice vibe. The service was exceptional. I forget her name, but our server was deaf, and her service was phenomenal. Both in English and Spanish. The food was good, but we had a couple of hiccups. They apparently were trying out a new system and it slowed down their food time significantly. We were warned about this but we didn't expect to wait so long. We're talking 25+ min for a cocktail & 40+ for food. Because of this, we decided to not order more drinks and food. Wish we could've tried some other things. Overall, definitely a must try place if you're around here or visiting Puerto Rico. read more

Highly recommend casita Miramar! We came here for our last dinner in PR and it did not disappoint! We ordered the skirt steak and the swordfish special for me and my husband. They even had an off menu kids meal for my littles- grilled chicken and plantains. Everything was delicious. Highlights were the pumpkin and plantain soup they brought out when we first sat down (complementary) For dessert we had the coquito tres leches and chocolate lava cake. read more
For our last night in Puerto Rico, my friends and I wanted to go to a fancy dinner. We decided on this place a couple hours before we arrived. We were worried because there were no open tables on Resy but apparently they can sometimes squeeze in walk ins. We arrived just on time (around 8:30 pm) because they were able to accommodate us, but they had to turn down the next party of the same size the came in. The table we were seated at was down a narrow hall, so 2 people sat on the bench side, and the other two at the heads of the table - a bit of an awkward seating arrangement but it worked with the space they have. As soon as we sat down, they placed a plantain soup in front of each of us, along with fish cakes (complimentary). Both were VERY delicious. For my drink, I selected a passion fruit virgin mojito and it was pretty and also very tasty - tart but sweet. I couldn't really decide what I wanted as my entree since everything looked so good. But eventually, I went with the fish of the day which was a fried red snapper. It came with tostones but I wish I would have asked for mashed taro instead - my friend had it with her goat and it was delicious. The tostones were a but dry and thick, and not enough salt. But the mashed taro was creamy, had a subtle garlic flavor and the perfect consistency. The fish was good, but it wasn't anything too special. I wish the fish came with a garlicky, green sauce instead of a tomato sauce. The presentation was good, and it was just moist which was good. Our waiter was amazing and brought us everything we needed. We ended the night be taking a shot of a digestive (on the house!). The bathrooms were clean. We stayed there until closing, and they kindly waited for us to leave to fully start cleaning around us. The inside is classy looking, and I love the wall they have filled with plants. They also have plants outside, which works well with the black and white. read more

Lovely atmosphere -bustling but still nice service overall & they were able to fit me in for early dinner Friday without a reservation the drinks are amazing - spicy Nancy was my winner of the night but honestly everything I tried was great and very different. Highly recommend the seafood salad -- I haven't had anything like that anywhere else. The crunch of the vegetables that they mix with it, it's not like salad greens you get in the US. Add some of their house hot sauce = heaven The fried pork was just ok IMHO but I had waited a while for my entree so maybe I was just full by this point. I wouldn't order that one again but it wasnt bad, just didn't blow me away like the salad did read more

We came here because of the high ratings. We did not have a reservation when we arrived around 5:30 on a Saturday. The hostess was very kind and seated us at the bar. I think the only thing I could complain about is how you get to your seat -- it's a bit confusing. It's amazing, but then again, it is also a house. The food was beyond amazing -- truly impeccable. It's such a cute little spot -- romantic if you want to go on a date, but they also have separate rooms for larger groups, like a big birthday dinner (which is what we did for my husband's birthday). Reservations are highly recommended. The vibe is spectacular. read more
A beautiful restaurant with many different options of Puerto Rican cuisine. We loved the ambiance, especially the bar in the back with the floating upside down chairs. Had the chance to visit Casita Miramar while in San Juan celebrating my birthday. Highly recommend making a reservation. It was packed on a Wednesday night, for large parties that have free private rooms. The hostess and our servers were very friendly, professional, and courteous throughout the visit. Even brought out a free birthday dessert to help celebrate. Ambiance: The restaurant is beautiful on the inside and out. It looks like it used to be some sort of hotel or multi home building as it has twisting and turning paths within. The large party rooms are located in the back past the main dining room and two bars. We loved the space away from the crowd as our 8 person party was pretty loud. Lots of nice furniture and scenic places throughout the take photos. Food: The food was excellent! They start everyone off with a soup, I believe it was lentil but regardless it was delicious. For appetizers we ordered the cod fritters, fried cheese with guava, alcapurrias, and requeson. My favorite was the requeson; it was a cottage cheese and tomato salad with greens, and a honey/oregano dressing. Didn't expect to like it but was licking the bowl it was so good. Drinks we ordered a couple pitchers of sangria both white and red. Entrees included the empanada del jefe, churrasco, and carne frita. The carne frita was by far the standout; super tender pork with pickled shallots and caramelized onion. Dessert was the tres leches, flan and chocolate cakes. Tres leches being the table favorite. All in all it was an amazing experience and Casita Miramar really made it a special birthday. Will definitely come back in future trips to San Juan. read more

We came in without a reservation and the team went above and beyond to seat us--exceptional hospitality. Don't be us: make a reservation, because they're busy even on a Monday (for good reason!). The food was outstanding. For appetizers, we had the queso frito and croquettes, both absolutely delicious. I ordered the goat, which was incredibly flavorful and tender--some of the best goat I've ever had. Others at the table had the bistec and the drunken chicken, and every dish was packed with flavor. The drink menu was excellent, and they even treated us to a complimentary soup to start, which was such a thoughtful touch. The tres leches dessert was the best I've ever had--and I love tres leches. A must-order. Kevin was our server and truly phenomenal--personable, friendly, and attentive throughout the night. We were celebrating a friend's birthday, and the staff made it feel extra special. An unforgettable experience from start to finish. Highly recommend. I will be back! read more

One of my favorite spots in PR, consistent and delicious food time and time again. The location is in an old style home and captures a lot of the natural Spanish beauty and architecture. I've yet to order something that I wasn't mouthwateringly delicious. Service is 10/10, we had some dietary restrictions and they did everything to make sure we had a meal with flavor. Before we even ordered they brought us a delicious soup to try which was great because it was freezing inside (but the ambiance is great inside especially when it's hot out). My favorite was the cabrito and honestly the habichuelas. The tostones and carne frita were also good, but a tad on the dry side. Overall, lovely service and good food with generous portions. read more

I haven't written a review in years, but I felt compelled to share the sheer joy I experienced eating here. To start, the sangria was amazing--not too sweet, not too strong, but perfectly balanced. We began with the bacalao and a plantain soup that honestly could have stood on its own as a meal. My wife and I both ordered the specials. The seafood paella was so rich and flavorful it made me feel like Poseidon himself, while the pernil, finished with crispy chicharrón along the edges, was pure comfort--good for the soul. We wrapped things up with tres leches and a lava cake that were absolutely to die for. Highly recommend. read more

This highly recommended spot did not disappoint. We got there a bit earlier than our reservation and we were seated quickly. We started with complimentary plantain soup and bacalaitos and these were already tasty. We then got some drinks and I liked the Sangria Copa a bit more than the El Conflicto. The entrees were amazing, the steak was tender and juicy. The arroz con mariscos was loaded with seafood. Our server was also super friendly. A bit fancier than my average meal but it was sooo good. The interior was classy and fancy, definitely a great spot for a date or if you are celebration an occasion. read more
On rare occasion, I was misled by Yelp reviews this restaurant was top rated on Yelp but it was a total disappointment. All hype sorry I want well prepared PR food. I came here based on reviews for mofongo and they didnt have a mofongo dish. It was charming looking from the outside perched on the second floor. At first we had the bacalao fritters and pumpkin soup and they were quite a good start. The seafood in oil was ok. Then it went down hill, the fried pork was oily and overcooked it did not feel like a top rated quality restaurant with the way they handled the pork. The snapper, we didnt get the impression it was fresh seafood it was fried to the death and definitely didnt weigh 1 lb it was so small and they charged me $53 for 1.5 lb. The drunken chicken was dry. The wait staff was not attentive and we had many uncleared plates and empty glasses. Overall for $200 at a top rated restaurant it was mediocre at best even the street stalls make better food than this. Adios! read more
Everything about this place is incredible. We've been here a few times over the years and it just is always great. First if you're plan on eating here make your reservation in advance at least a few days in advance. We've had main different dishes here but we tried something new. The goat stew is so good it reminded me of oxtail stew and it was delicious. The drunken chicken was also good and the beans and rice are always a must have. The service is always good and the ambiance is chill romantic vibe. Remember make your reservation before a few days in advance. read more
Probably the best thing I ate in PR. Tastes like someone's abuela went to CIA and hooked up with a guy in the dorm from Barcelona. Excellent modern criollo place. The seafood rice was memorable. The piñon was also really good as were the tostones with mayo ketchup with tasted smoked. Wine list was also well paired. Kind of on a side street. Go early as it fills up quick. Service was very nice and attentive. Will definitely be back. read more
