We finished the Arcosanti tour around lunch and the cafe didn't look great so we looked for the closest place with high reviews. Luckily the gas station right at the exit also has a highly rated taqueria so we decided to go here instead of some of the franchise places surrounding it. You order and pickup inside the gas station convenience store so the ordering area is a little hectic. There Re some benches outside to eat at but it seemed like most people were ordering and eating in their car. Chimichanga: my wife ordered this and it was the best chimichanga I've ever had. Most times they are too soggy and doughy. This one has a great fillings to tortilla ratio and came with a ton of lettuce to help cut the heaviness. The meat had a nice seasoning that brought out the savoriness. Chicken taquitos: we asked for avocado sauce on the side for the kids but they ended up dipping it, these were tasty. Nice and crunchy outside and the chicken was still tender and not dry like other places. Asada and Cabeza tacos: Cabeza was fantastic, the asada was well done to the point of being a very dark brown. I know some people like it like this, this works well for me if it's well diced but unfortunately the pieces were cut a little big and some parts tasted like jerky. read more

This place has excellent food. It is located inside a gas station in Cordes Junction. There is no inside seating, just a few tables outside. I have tried all the basics.. tacos, enchiladas and more. The food was cold and overcooked to where it was hard to eat and very dry. they messed up our order twice and had a very rude attitude about having to fix it. overall experience is worth a 0 rating cause even a 1 is too good for them tonight. do better when your the only local Mexican cuisine. read more

Since this place has only been open for A week now, comma it is packed. Even with a long line with people waiting in front and behind me for Food, it was delivered fast and hot. We ordered 2 platter plates and they were delicious it came also with green sauce and red sauce. The red sauce was by far the hottest sauce rarez the green sauce was not as spicy. Since this is brand new in our small town it is the only option other than McDonald's and arby's to get hot food had a good price. English is their 2nd language so if you don't speak Spanish, might not get what you pay for. The food, in general, is okay. Tacos are good, bit under seasoned, fajitas platter is very good and a great share plate. Being there are no restaurants locally but truck stop fast food, this is the only Mexican food around. You know the McDonald's where you turn off from the I-17 to go to Prescott? Well NEXT to it INSIDE the gas station is El Gordo and it is amazing. They have a couple picnic tables outside but mostly everyone takes it to go. I pick it up on my way home from Flagstaff every time- I get the carne asada super nachos and they are literally three meals worth of food. And somehow the chips are still crispy even as leftovers. Magic. They cook the meat right there behind the cashier and it looks SO good, really high quality. They also are really fast, you just have time to get gas and wash your windshield and the food is ready. They have soda as well as horchata. Highly recommend. read more

On out way home from Flagstaff with my family and we happened to stumble on this small Mexican food place. It's very unassuming since it is located in a gas station but don't let that stop you. The service was fantastic and the food extremely delicious! I got the shredded beef chimichanga, it was full of flavor, my son got the carne asada burrito and was also very good, my husband got 3 tacos, 2 carne asada and one cabeza and they were cooked to perfection and lastly the red salsa was delicious, packed with flavor and spice. Pretty good service. Unfortunately there's no place or very little place to sit inside the chevron station. They've just opened about 6-7 mo this ago so there's a few kink's their working out for speed but it's not out of line of most food services in gas stations. Prices are on the higher side but I think they try to make up for it with portion size. No options of a drive threw, no curbside and extremely limited parking available so be patient and prepared to not have one during the busy hours of the day. read more
