We waited a good 35 minutes for the food to be ready, the waitress did make us aware that there was a wait but if it wasn't because I got up and asked about our order it would have been longer. The cooks are more focus on the take out orders that the dinning in. The carne frita was over cooked and extremely dry, the stuff empanadas are not really worth it. Definitely not going again.

Today is friday 03/28/25 7:30 pm I tried calling this place several times and phone just rings and they do not pick up the last time I called. They picked up the phone and they hung up on me. I was just trying to place a order for pick up very unprofessional might be a different story when you go there but as far as calling to place an order, they do not pick up the phone

    The supposed "chino-boricua" food.

Terrible experience. The "PR-Chinese" food they promote is nothing like the one in PR. It tasted like it was made by people who have never had chino-boricua, saw a picture, tried to recreate it, but the flavors weren't there at all. The rice tasted like they didn't add any soy sauce, the ribs were bone in (the classic ones in chino-boricua cuisine are boneless) & they used a little bit of a questionable red sauce instead of the Cantonese bbq pork sauce. Ribs were dry & flavorless. The tostones barely had any garlic. The chino-boricua tostones are know to be garlic heavy. These had no salt & barely any garlic. Everything was so disappointing. I have second hand-embarrassment & hope no one thinks this is a representation of chino-boricua cuisine. Mind you, we also waited 30 minutes to get drinks we ordered & almost another hour for the food. At one point a cook asked if we had gotten our food because he noticed we had been sitting there for so long. Why is he on it & not the server? We had to ask for the menu like 30 minutes in because it was never brought out & when the server finally came to take our order she just stood there with a blank stare, no explanation of anything on the menu. When we asked a question about the food she acted like we should know the answer but it was our first time there & it's your job to explain certain things. Anyway, if you don't want to waste your time & money, don't come here. You've been warned!

Pretty busy spot - definitely could have used another server as ours got a little frustrated with having to split our check and serve all the tables. A couple things we ordered came out wrong also. The food itself was good, the jibarito was flavorful and the special mofongo was filling and tasty. The piña colada was really good but just know it doesn't come with alcohol.

Famous for his food truck in Rosemont, people are flocking to the newly open establishment in Humboldt Park, everything is made fresh to order so you will definitely be waiting for your meal. You'll see items on the menu emulating typical Puerto Rican fare, yet, pinchomofongo unlike anything you've ever seen. The portions are incredibly generous, and bursting with flavor. Service is slower than what you would anticipate but the staff is super friendly and it seems as if a lot of people that come in are regulars. The plaintain on the Jibarito sandwich is said to be the crispiest crunch, and no one can yet figure out how he does it! They definitely need to staff up with their help, decor is simple yet clean. No frills at this joint! Side note, even though the wait time on the food was long and they need more personnel, I am giving a 5 star review as the owner personally came up to us and asked what could be done to make things better. That just shows that this crew is willing to do whatever it takes to listen, modify, and make things successful. Shout out to Manny, their head of operations!

I like this lil spot.. I was just driving pass hungry one day and decided to stop in. Kinda small…read morelocation but they make the best of it.. i ordered tostones which are fried plantains and fried pork belly...which is exactly what it sounds like. I was a huge fan of the tostones, it was crispy and crunchy and fried to perfection. They put tooo much garlic oil on mines but still edible. I was not a huge fan of the fried pork belly.. it was like I liked it bc I was hungry but I didn't like it enough to come back and order it again.. I think it was the seasoning and it was overly salty for me... besides that it was cooked to perfection. Maybe I need to come back and try something else on the menu but for now it's not a place I would rush back to and eat at.. I'm sorry I hate being mean but I have to be honest.

Was looking for Puerto Rican food and came upon the reviews of El Mofonguito…read more Parking is a little tough but we came early and were able to find street parking. We were greeted with a smile and guided to choose our own table. A basket of bread and butter was brought over promptly. I ordered appetizers, tostones rellenos de lechón and carne frita. They came out at the same time as the entrees. It only took about 10 minutes! We ordered a volcan with steak in red sauce (mofongo relleno de bistec en salsa), breaded chicken breast and lechón with arroz con gandules. The food was spectacular! Everything was very well seasoned and reminded me of home (born and raised in PR, moved here as an adult). I would definitely recommend that anyone come here for authentic Puerto Rican food. Be mindful that they are very generous with their portion sizes. We ended up taking about half of it home. There are worse problems one can have. :-)
