Called the restaurant, placed an online order to pickup. Gave me the wrong order and forgot some of the food. Ordered tostones and they were burnt. Called the restaurant back to let them know. The owner said he didn't charge me for the missing food and the tostones were not burnt, they were ripe, which is not true, see pic.

Dope PR food in the southside of Chicago. Food was fast, fresh and delicious! I had the lechon jibarito and my bf had the steak. Both were "chefs kiss" They have a salsa on the table that is fire in a good way! The spot is no frills, the staff is kind. Def will be back!

Good food, good service, short wait time for food cooked to order! Order at counter, clean tables or carry outs. All questions answered, and good recommendations. Street parking.

My usual jibarito spot is closed on Sundays so I decided 2 give this spot a try. Kudos for being open guys. This location used 2 be a shrimp spot before. It's clean, nicely decorated, friendly staff. Placed order with a nice male server. Waited about 15 mins then order was done. Nice!! Well not exactly. I use the alias "Carlos" when ordering out. There was another "Carlos" so I checked the bag and had 2 return. I informed them if the error which they apologized. I waited another 15 minutes for my correct order. I double checked it and it was correct this time. I ordered: a cod fritter which was quite greasy & cod-less tasting and somewhat salty; a chicken empanada which was bland, not greasy and a ground beef rellano which was quite delicious. The sauce that they give u is wayyyy 2 hot 4 me. My other half thought so 2. The steak jibarito was good - had cheese, lettuce, onions, plus smashed garlic on top(?). My normal spot places it in a cup for u. There were some hits and misses but nice that they are in the neighborhood but can use some continuous improvement.

We'll say since I come to work in Midway airport more often. I discovered this Puerto Rican…read morerestaurant on the route when I take Archer avenue along the way. Despite that I made my own lunch today I decided to splurge and give it a try. I've had Puerto Rican food before but it's usually up in the north side of Chicago and that in the south side especially by Midway airport. Anyways the rellanos de Papa was delicious and the feelings were b however the portion seem to be small that's why I'm glad I ordered too usually some of the Puerto Rican restaurants on north make their rellanos de Papa bigger. There bistec platter with fresh salad and Puerto Rican rice was delicious however their portions were small too. The bistec had a red sauce versus oily fried sauteed sauce with onion taste. They had a different take on it. I drank it with the traditional Malta India beverage like on picture. I finished it up with a cocoa flan. I would come back again it was actually up the par with the Puerto Rican restaurants up north it's just I'm surprised the portions are smaller and they didn't serve water. Thus 4 out of 5 stars. Service was pretty friendly and quick. Ambience had a more modern feel with the Puerto Rican Caribbean Spanish music in the background. This is my first time coming and yeah I would recommend if you are craving for Puerto Rican and you're at Midway airport now that I know where this is at

Once I got home I've noticed they gave me smushy white rice, The food was tasteless (no flavor at all), Cheeseburger was too dried and burnt, papa rellenas was too small. I've never seen it so small that it fit perfectly in my palm. In the picture it seemed like it was regular size and it definitely wasn't. lol The cashier (front) young lady taking my order seemed unfriendly, There wasn't any welcoming upon entering the restaurant. They need to pay attention to what the customers are ordering.

I was a huge fan of the tostones, it was crispy and crunchy and fried to perfection. They put tooo much garlic oil on mines but still edible. I was not a huge fan of the fried pork belly.. it was like I liked it bc I was hungry but I didn't like it enough to come back and order it again.. I think it was the seasoning and it was overly salty for me... besides that it was cooked to perfection. Maybe I need to come back and try something else on the menu but for now it's not a place I would rush back to and eat at.. I'm sorry I hate being mean but I have to be honest.

We were greeted with a smile and guided to choose our own table. A basket of bread and butter was brought over promptly. I ordered appetizers, tostones rellenos de lechón and carne frita. They came out at the same time as the entrees. It only took about 10 minutes! We ordered a volcan with steak in red sauce (mofongo relleno de bistec en salsa), breaded chicken breast and lechón with arroz con gandules. The food was spectacular! Everything was very well seasoned and reminded me of home (born and raised in PR, moved here as an adult). I would definitely recommend that anyone come here for authentic Puerto Rican food. Be mindful that they are very generous with their portion sizes. We ended up taking about half of it home. There are worse problems one can have. :-)

Let me tell you. THIS WAS THE BEST THING I ATE when I was in Chicago…read more I knew I had to visit Pilsen while visiting Chicago for the first time. Coming from the West Coast, we mainly have Mexican, Guatemalan, or El Salvadorean food. Muy rico, tried and true. But Puerto Rican is more rare. So when I saw those bright and beautiful PR flags out by the front entrance, and an almost full-house at 2pm in the afternoon, I knew I had to check Jibarito Shop out. I knew I had to get a jibarito because of the namesake. I love that there's a half and a full sandwich option. I was here solo, so I happily ordered the half option...but could've easily given into eating a full order. A jibarito is scrumptious, fried plantains as the "buns" or "bread" with the meat of your choice, and side of flavorful yellow rice and beans. I went with bistec. You're handed a number and wait for your food to be delivered to your table. The first bite blew my friggin' mind. Flavor, fat, and WOW. As someone who loves all fries, having that crunch and oil from the crispy plantains was gluttonous. Rice was so good, I was licking the paper bowl. Atmosphere feels homey and open, and there's lots of table options but they fill up quick because of how popular they are. Good for families but smaller groups. Restrooms are clean and single-stall. Service is so friendly and efficient. Shoutout to the magic hands who blessed us with delicious meals. I am still dreaming of what I ate at Jibarito Shop. Please come to California!
