Hey fellow Yelpers! I've been to Jibaritos y Mas Southside in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood in Chicago many times and this place never disappoints. I used to go to Jibaritos on Harlem in the Portage Park/Dunning neighborhood because I used to live in the northwest side, but now I live in the southside. I'm completely obsessed with jibaritos and the chicken one is the best one in my opinion. Customer Service: Every time I order whether that is a pick up order that I place through the phone or dinning in, the staff members are all very welcoming and polite. I feel like the same guy takes my order every time I order on the phone for pick up or in-person and he's the best. Kudos to you! You're doing an amazing job & keep doing what you're doing! Food/Drinks: They have a lot delicious options from food to drinks. My go-to order is a chicken jibarito, 3-4 sorullos (Puerto Rican corn fritters), and a large ice cold parcha (passion fruit) drink. It's the best!!! I'm craving it right now as I write this Yelp review lol. Overall Experience: Overall, I aways have a great experience eating at Jibaritos y Mas whether that is eating in my car or eating inside the restaurant. They prepare the food within a decent time and always comes out deliicous. I highly recommend this place that those that want to try Puerto Rican food or Puerto Rican food lovers. Oh my how tasty that was!!!! I got the shrimp and octopus jibarito. My table companion got the pork Jibarito. We both loved our meals. My octopus was cooked perfectly and not too chewy. Called the restaurant, placed an online order to pickup. Gave me the wrong order and forgot some of the food. Ordered tostones and they were burnt. Called the restaurant back to let them know. The owner said he didn't charge me for the missing food and the tostones were not burnt, they were ripe, which is not true, see pic. read more

Dope PR food in the southside of Chicago. Food was fast, fresh and delicious! I had the lechon jibarito and my bf had the steak. Both were "chefs kiss" They have a salsa on the table that is fire in a good way! The spot is no frills, the staff is kind. Def will be back! read more

I've been missing good jibaritos since my Humboldt park spot closed. These were great! The plantains were fresh and I wished I got some tostones also. Servers were very attentive. My first time to this location was disappointing as the taste of the food/flavor was subpar. The original location is the best PR food in the city in my opinion. The arroz con gandules at THIS location is bland. The jibarito looks the same but lacks in flavor compared to the original location. I have since patronized them a second time to no avail. I have ordered takeout both times so I can't quite rate them on service but they always seem to be busy & the ambiance is divey. Needless to say, I'm gonna hafta start making the agonizing drive to the northside more often to get my fix! read more

Service was good and the workers were really nice, but the food was disappointing. I came in excited to try this place because I've heard good things from a family friend, but honestly it didn't authentically taste like Puerto Rican food. You can be a great cook, but if the food doesn't have that real PR flavor, it just doesn't hit the same. The relleno de papa was way too salty, the lechón had no flavor, and the rice was bland and pale. On top of that, the plates were so small that my food kept falling onto the table. As a Puerto Rican, I was really disappointed. I've had better PR food in Chicago, and I was hoping this spot would be good since it's closer to home. Sadly, it just wasn't. :( read more

My usual jibarito spot is closed on Sundays so I decided 2 give this spot a try. Kudos for being open guys. This location used 2 be a shrimp spot before. It's clean, nicely decorated, friendly staff. Placed order with a nice male server. Waited about 15 mins then order was done. Nice!! Well not exactly. I use the alias "Carlos" when ordering out. There was another "Carlos" so I checked the bag and had 2 return. I informed them if the error which they apologized. I waited another 15 minutes for my correct order. I double checked it and it was correct this time. I ordered: a cod fritter which was quite greasy & cod-less tasting and somewhat salty; a chicken empanada which was bland, not greasy and a ground beef rellano which was quite delicious. The sauce that they give u is wayyyy 2 hot 4 me. My other half thought so 2. The steak jibarito was good - had cheese, lettuce, onions, plus smashed garlic on top(?). My normal spot places it in a cup for u. There were some hits and misses but nice that they are in the neighborhood but can use some continuous improvement. read more

The food and service were good when it first opened up, but it has drastically gone down hill. The food is now lacking in flavor and some of the portions are being skimp on. We ordered a Jibarito and it barely had any meat and the for price they are charging it should definitely have more. Hidden fees!!! Please be aware of something that has happened twice to me here. They charged me a tip without my consent when they asked me if I wanted to leave a tip over the phone I said no, I wasn't until I requested a receipt that I noticed since they don't give you one that I noticed the charge for the tip. Jibaritos y mas is a welcomed sight in an area where pizza joints and tacos stands reign supreme. It is not a vibe at all. You have a nice little mural but the rest of the place is like a design show for every Chicago person in 2025 .. gray. The stars of the show imo opinion are the frituras. You can pretty much take a shot and it's most likely going to hit. The pasteles are also very good. The rest of the food though. No matter what you order it's going to be garlic. Heavy heavy garlic. Staff is so kind and will gladly explain what items on the menu are. Santiago is a sweetheart. It is more of a casual relaxed placed but the food is delicious. The perfect seasoning. My husband thought I was crazy but I wanted to try the entire menu only if I could but I just wanted to get a taste from back home. I started off with a the pastel (tamale) I was completely amazed. It was good really good. It was almost as good as my dad's. The tostones where good too ...but just a little too big for my taste and beyond drizzled with garlic. I had to scrape it off. I loved that even as a carryout they did not get soggy. The mofongo was not as what I usually have it in P.R. but the flavor was good not completely amazed. Glad I was able to try it. It was too much of a fishy taste to me. The Abichelas where okay nothing out of this world.... But.... when I took a bite of the JIBARITO ... AY DIOS MIO... it was so DARN GOOD I couldn't get enough of it when I look down it was GONE... it was fresh it was tasty it just melted in my mouth. The staff is rude, sarcastic, and doesn't know how to communicate with customers. If you point out a mistake they made, they get angry at the customer and become sarcastic instead of fixing it. I've received better customer service in Puerto Rico. Very disappointed. If you can't treat customers with respect or take responsibility for mistakes, you shouldn't be in business. read more

Food is very good and the amount served is great. Price is fair for the amount of food. Service was not great the day I went .The place only had one waiter taking orders and serving food.
