I ordered from DoorDash because the only decent steakhouse around here wasn't open for DoorDash delivery anymore. I don't like the food here in mountain home and I was apprehensive to try a ribeye from a primarily Mexican food place, but at this point I had nothing to lose so I figured I would try. They made my night! I didn't care for the sides, so I steamed some broccoli to go with the steak and gave the fries and "salad" to my hubby (he didn't eat it either lol). I took off a star because the chips were hard and the salad was mediocre at best. But the steak was great! It was cooked perfectly medium the way I ordered it, nice and pink throughout the center and a nice sear on the outside. I was prepared to be disappointed and eat my leftovers instead, but I was so pleasantly surprised! The salsa was also pretty good. I'm a Latina so I would've preferred it spicier, but it had a nice flavor to it. Don't know if I would actually order Mexican food from this place, but I will definitely order the steak again if I can't get it from the steakhouse (they have actual decent sides for the steak). read more

We weren't expecting much from Mexican in Mountain Home. Certainly, this is a pretty standard American-Mexican sit-down place. But sometimes we're in the mood for that kind of place and food. This place is awful. Waitress barely spoke any English (I get that it's a Mexican restaurant. But, come on). I ordered the seafood chimichanga and it was horrid. It smelt like roadkill and looked even worse. I couldn't take more than a bite. I asked for guac (because my meal wad supposed to come with it) but I still got charged 3 dollars for it. We were passing through town and stopped here for takeout burritos. I went in and asked for their to go menu and was told they don't do takeout. Whaaat? Well then why do they have spaces in their parking lot for pick-up orders!? I snapped a photo of the sign b/c this makes no sense and it was annoying. There are several things I like about this restaurant. Great food, friendly and fast service, clean & they have a lunch & dinner buffet that is wonderful with many choices, fresh fruit & dessert. The owner is always working & comes around the tables to make sure that you are well taken care of. They even have a small banquet room for parties and meetings. They are open 7 days a week for breakfast lunch and dinner. I'm definitely coming back to this place again! read more

Not sure what it is, but my wife and have stumbled on a bunch of under par restaurants. We stopped coming here a few years back due to extremely poor service. Well it hasn't changed. Had to wait to be seated, due to the entire wait staff had to sing Happy birthday, got seated with chips and salsa, after 15 minutes went by and numerous waiters going by are table we got up and left. There's somethings about this restaurant that just don't flow the salsa is to water down in the beans are too runny there's not a lot of variety in plus the prices are a little bit too high for a Mexican restaurant definitely do not recommend going here read more

It looks like a Mexican restaurant. It is very very pricey. So we are expecting good Mexican food. The waiter even warns us it's Americanized and if we wanted real Mexican we should go elsewhere. We should have left right then but we are already stuck because we have eaten the chips. I got a chicken burrito which ended up being a cheese and chicken enchilada. It tasted like a gas station frozen burrito. It had no other toppings. Just chicken and cheese and it was absolutely nasty. My husband got two beef burritos. It tasted like taco Bell with the nasty cheese sauce also it was an enchilada not a burrito. It came with no toppings just the beef and cheese. My husband usually enjoys a nice cold freshly made horchata. However at this restaurant it tasted like a fake horchata and it had no ice. It was the nasties warm drink to ever pass his lips. He didn't even drink it. My husband felt sick after. And we both felt extremely ripped off. We will never step through their doors again. read more

The buffet was mediocre, my wife's enchiladas had sauce obviously out of a can, and the service was bad (the waiter was eating his dinner at one of the tables when he wasn't asking what we wanted for instance). This is the place to get descent fajitas in Mountain Home. They also have a buffet and most of the other food tastes a bit bland if you have ever had authentic Mexican food. I have never had an issue with the service or food. Typically, we spend about $60 for a family of four when we eat at El Herraderos. The drinks leave something to be desired. read more

Grew up in Phoenix, Arizona and ate at premier Mexican family owned restaraunt (La Pinata), that expanded with its authentic hispanic flavors. El Herradero does a fair job with its shredded beef and chicken menu items (not quite as many spices as I'm used to but tasty). I tried the seafood and I wasn't surprised/excited by the flavors due to the fact I was in the middle of Idaho without a fresh body of seawater nearby. Very fishy flavored chimichanga and had to leave half of it on the plate uneaten after trying to enhance it with sour cream and salsa to no avail.
