    The famous: Al pastor todos!
    Steven K.

Starting off strong in my book with the excellent service. The moment you sit down, she brings a stack of spices- now you know you made the right decision by turning left into the restaurant. This place is known for the Al pastor stack - smart really. They super stack it with their mixture of sauces and a ton of Al pastor. You'll finish the entire stack by the time you finish the meat. Consumme was my wife's favorite. different from the rest and maybe that's why they call it the especial! Affordable, clean, great service - 5 stars!

ORDERED: - al pastor taco (individual) but order the al pastor special!! you seem to get more with this order, and additional tortillas. Essentially, you can make about 5 tacos from this order. SERVICE: Service was great! Don't be afraid to ask for new salsa if there was already one on the table! Each table should get a new batch of salsa! LOCATION: this particular location was small/limited seating inside. We waited about 10mins for a table. Food: 5/5 stars Service: 5/5 stars Venue: 4/5

Great service and delicious food. Their Al Pastor special is the best thing I ate in Mexico City.

A must do location. Well known for their Al Pastor. We had to do it. A short walk from Zocalo. The tacos are as good as it gets. The service was good given it's style and environment. It didn't have much of an ambiance, but you go there for the food! Don't forget to try all of the salsas!

Wow awesome local taco place right in the middle of el centro. It has a small inside seating area but there are tons of locals also eating by the side walks. They place is as authentic as you can get and the tacos, especially Al pastor is the best.

the best al pastor tacos you'll ever have. i can die happy knowing i've eaten these tacos. i ate these heavenly tacos on the first day of the trip & i HAD to return again on the last day of the trip to end the trip on a high note. i couldn't leave without having another taste of these beautiful creations. the al pastor just melts in the mouth and is so full of flavor. nothing else in CDMX came close and i ate a lot of tacos here. you gotta try this for yourself!!!

We learned of this place from Eva Longoria's show, Searching for Mexico. Terrific tacos and a variety of salsas to try. Bonus! Table service and clean restrooms.

Delicious tacos. We got the huge el pastor to share and the soup was soooo yummy. Service was great and great prices. In the middle of El centro. Meat was so tender and delicious! Would come back if I was in the neighborhood again :)

Queso rellenos: two tacos al pastor wrapped in fried cheese
    Melissa N.

El Huequito is a chain serving gourmet, fancy tacos. For a casual-ish restaurant they have a great dish presentation. This location in downtown is very small. Most of the available seating is outside. But Mexico City has great weather, so I encourage you to sit outside. Service was polite and courteous. I ordered the queso rellenos. It's two tacos al pastor wrapped in fried cheese. Although the meat was excellent, the cheese was salty. So, I actually scraped the cheese off and enjoyed the pork instead. Now my friend recommended to try the alambre. It's a taco al pastor, but to another level with pork chop and steak. This is the dish to get. I tried it and I loved it. Overall, 3.5 rounded up to 4

    Big taco!!

I really enjoyed my tacos de pastor. They have excellent sauces. The onions are grilled nicely which I prefer than raw onions. My friend had the big taco (forgot the name) that comes with 6/8 tortillas. It had avocado that makes it even better. Service is good. They have a place to sit down.

    The best al pastor tacos!

The best al pastor tacos I have ever had! I have had many tacos throughout my life at many different places and hands down these have got to be the best al pastor tacos ever! The unique thing about the meat here is that it's not red like most al pastor and there's no pineapple. Instead they have diced onions sitting on the grill that are basically getting caramelized in the fat of the pork from the spit. Then they dip the tortillas in the fat and juices from the pork before throwing the meat on there. The al pastor is tender and loaded with so much flavor and the onions and sauces that they add just ties everything perfectly together. The restaurant is a chain so there's a few of them littered all around the city but this particular one is basically just a tiny little storefront with standing room only. It's sandwiched between two restaurants and only has room for like two people working inside and one person outside manning the al pastor spit. We got the special which is just a mountain of al pastor and a bunch of tortillas. I highly recommend it. Vince and I talk about how this was the best al pastor we have had and we're both sad that it is so far away and we probably will not find a place in LA that comes close to it.

Some random dude we meet while eating. But check out his tacos!

We saw this place on Somebody Feed Phil when he came to Mexico City. We came at around 7:30pm and the street was pretty empty. The tacos al pastor were delicious: the meat was well seasoned and the onions and the sauces, along with the fresh tortillas, made these possibly the best tacos we had during our stay in CDMX

    Especiale (119 pesos)
    Justine G.

After arriving in Mexico City 3 hours later than anticipated, I got here hungry and greedy and to my mistake, I ordered 2 especiales for my boyfriend and I. Even though I only had a bag of Terra chips on my JetBlue flight, that was too much food and honestly a mistake! For 119 pesos per order, I got a humongous stack of meat that came with around 8 tacos. I could have easily shared one order, but we live and we learn!!! The taco stand is street side, so be prepared with hand sanitizer and wet wipes for after your meal. There is an assortment of salsas, sauces, and a container to put on your tacos, but I wolfed down my food so fast I barely could stop to even squeeze a lime on it. The tacos blew my mind and could not even top my favorite taco cart in Queens. I still dream about this place......... come hungry and get the especiale.

Another thing this city has is very inexpensive spots you can eat, like pop ups or stands that serve such high quality food at very cheap prices. The third thing I found about this city is where this restaurant fits in-They have restaurants that are historic, that opened over 100 years ago-Cafe de Tacuba fits in that category, having opened in 1912. This restaurant is located in Centro Historico-just a few blocks from Zocalo. Its location is a very busy touristy part of Mexico City. When we arrived there was a 30 minute wait, but once we walked in it was obvious why as it was truly a work of art in there. The walls were adorned with amazing paintings and murals and interior designs elements that transported you back to Mexico in the 1950s and earlier. It was gorgeous. I don't want to call it a fancy place with all the stigma that sometimes represents but it was a fancy place without all the stuffiness of a fancy place. It was a very warm and welcoming place to dine at. There was a lady walking around with a platter full of conchas and churros that one could indulge in while waiting their main meal. I had to get a churro-it was so delicious. We also got chicken tortilla soup-it was so rich and tasty with the perfect blend of Mexican seasonings. I had a pretty good cafe con leche as well-you could really taste the high quality coffee beans they use in their coffees compared to what I'd been getting all trip in the streets. Now when you visit this restaurant and you could only try one dish-that dish begins and ends with Enchiladas Tacuba(355 pesos/$20.35) That's what I got and it was awesome. Its basically a chicken enchilada dish with a creamy spinach based sauce topped with cheese-flavor bomb to the fullest. 9.5/10 Item I wouldn't clarify this as an inexpensive meal compared to other places we visited in Mexico City, but I would call this place an incredible dining experience where one can just feel the importance of the building one is having this meal. Heck Diego Rivera had his wedding reception here in 1922. I for sure would recommend anyone who has the pleasure of visiting Mexico City, must add Cafe de Tacuba to their itinerary-it's such a rich experience.

During a family trip to Mexico City, one of the places I was most excited to visit was Azul Histórico. I live in New York, and I had been looking forward to enjoying authentic Mexican chile rellenos at such a renowned restaurant. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful. The colonial courtyard creates a magical atmosphere, and the service was excellent from the moment we arrived. I also have to mention that the drinks were delicious and beautifully prepared. Unfortunately, the chile rellenos didn't meet our expectations. My mom and I both ordered them, and we agreed that they were served quite cold and didn't taste fresh. The staff kindly offered to replace our meals, which we truly appreciated, but I decided not to. Instead, I ended up eating some of my daughter's meal since I knew she wouldn't finish it. Thankfully, the rest of my family had a wonderful dining experience. My dad, my husband, and my daughter all loved their meals and were very happy with what they ordered. We finished the evening with desserts, coffee, and hot chocolate, and everything was absolutely delicious. Overall, Azul Histórico offers a stunning setting and outstanding service. While my entrée wasn't what I had hoped for, the rest of the meal and the time spent with my family made it a memorable experience. I'd gladly return to try other dishes from the menu.
