Ok. This place has been updated since the last time I have been which is a plus! The ceilings look good now (but I feel like the mold has just been painted over) but all around the place seems to be up to the standards a tad more. BUT. The food.... Oh my. The chips look like someone stepped on them before serving it. The food in general taste like someone sat on it and had diarrhea on it (and maybe squirted a bit) but I will continue to give this place 3 stars because it has been "updated" and still trying to keep it up and make things better! My family and I have gone to El Jalisco three times now. The first time was with a friend, the second was just family, and today it was myself and my mother. Had I rated my my second visit, it would have been five star for service, food and quality. Today unfortunately has completely changed my experience and honestly left me utterly disgusted with both the service and the management. Today my mother and I went to eat. We each ordered the same food as our last visit, since we had enjoyed it so much. Hers was an El Jalisco bowl and mine was a Burrito Loco. It arrived quickly and hot. About two minutes into eating, she gave me a horrified look and pulled a rock out of her mouth. It was about two inches long and gray/black in color. She wiped it off, both of us utterly astounded. We tried to figure out if it was just burnt beans -- but no, once wiped off it was absolutely a rock. She called over the waitress, who apologized and went to get a fresh bowl of food. In the meantime my mother began feeling ill at the thought of why and how a rock ended up in her food. We waited for quite awhile, and at length they brought a new fresh bowl. She ate some, but felt too sick to eat much more. There was no additional apology offered. No offer to comp her meal for the terrible experience. Nothing. Really disgusted with the way it was handled. I worked food service when I was young, and you always comp a meal when there's a major issue such as this. Since new owners have taken over the food has gone downhill I need to watch carbs, so my go to has always been their ceviche. This trip on 4-20-24, was very disappointing. A few pieces of cut up shrimp, basically no fish or scallops and no avocado-even though their menu describes all of these items and the picture shows them . I would leave a -5 star review if possible. So, yelp, let's make 0 stars possible. I asked the server about the price of our two for one margs because it was way higher than usual. He brought the owner over who proceeded to be aggressive and raise his voice when speaking to me. He said the frozen margarita caused the increase and became agitated when I explained that had never been the case. The owner is aggressive and rude and I do not recommend coming here after being yelled at. If I had been rude, sure I would accept it, but now I'm very upset because a simple question caused somebody to belittle and yell at me. No thanks. I hope he does not own all el jalisco's because I do like el Jalisco, but I will not stand to be talked to like that. If you come here, don't question anything or the owner will show his true self. I also called El Jalisco on Monroe in Tallahassee to see what they said. Their prices are a different price and it's the same owner. This is a full service Mexican restaurant, with good food and full service bar. I had the Monday lunch special Taco Salad with either ground beef or chicken. I choose chicken and it was GOOD :). Nice lunch size not big and need a nap nor to small and be hungry before dinner. Nice colors feel the room and service with a smile. This was their first day open and not bad for a first day. We sat down and the owner brought us menus but not a very friendly guy. We looked at the menus and did not see any beer prices. When we asked the server what the beer prices were we got an instant attitude saying he did not know. When he returned he told us the draft Bud was $5.50! Second chance on this El Jalisco and can't say I thought it got better. Salsa was pretty bland and mediocre. I got a bean burrito with a cheese enchilada, daughter got a beef burrito and tamale. My food was so bland. No seasoning, no flavor. The enchilada was rubbery and had no flavor. Daughter said her food was so salty that it wasn't really enjoyable. I had to add hot sauce to get any sort of flavor. I'm disappointed because food choices in Havana are so limited and on a day I didn't have the time or energy to drive into Tallahassee, I really hoped this time would be better than my first visit so I think I'll pass on returning here. My husband and I ordered a to go order a few weeks ago. The order included 3 tacos which my husband paid for. When he got home the tacos were not in the bag. I called them and they asked if we could come back to get them and I told them we could not. They said to remind them and we would get them at no charge on the next order. Both times we had a problem with a special request but it was quickly fixed, with no problem or additional expense. Thanksgiving eve night, had to wait an hour and half to get foods on our table. Worst part was our waiter never around our table, asked 4 people to get foods and they gave us their excuse was that new computer system messed up... don't tell me lie, the waiter forgot put our order. Because our behind table and next table who came after us have finished meal way before we got foods. Not computer's fault... then our waiter brought the foods and he said that he gonna give us half price after that the Manager came to our table after we called him 10 min ago and he said that give us comp... then the waiter brought half price bill... $17.35.... let me laugh I am writing because I was furious about disrespect to customer's time, treat customers shit... same name this restaurant in Tallahassee are very popular and all location are filthy.. not clean anywhere. Tonight was the 3rd time we ate at El Jalisco's in Havana, FL. We liked the food we ordered and was pleased with the portions. Tonight, I ordered the Nachos Fiesta, and asked for them to have just beef, bean and cheese individually on the chips. No lettuce, tomato. They brought only beef on the Nachos, all stacked up in a pile, no beans. When we stopped a waitress and told her and asked for silverware, she said she would get us some silverware. Later she came back and asked if something was wrong with my order. I told her again what was wrong. She went and got someone else and she said well would you like me to bring you some beans, or do you want me to take it back and remake it? I said, just bring me some beans, thank you. When she brought them back, she said the beans would be extra. Really!? I told her forget it, just take it all back, and I will never be back.
