We were driving back from the Falling Waters State Park and needed something to eat before we got back into town. We saw a billboard off the highway for this restaurant, so we decided to give it a try. Location is a little unsuspecting because it is dark and next to a dollar tree, but the interior is quite large and well decorated. We were seated right away, and the server gave us chips and salsa immediately. The chips were nice and fresh and warm, and the salsa was fantastic. ServerO is great. He gave us good recommendations and said that everything that has a hat on the menu is usually their most popular. As for the food, we ordered the fajitas mix. I had chicken, beef, and shrimp for two. It is about $27 and came with a lot of food. Definitely not for two, maybe even three. The rice plate came with rice, beans, avocado, as well as two sets of tortillas, which is about three each. It came in a serving plate and was overall pretty good. Would recommend getting again for the amount of food and the taste. We also ordered the torta. Unfortunately, for this one, it wasn't that great. The torta is just a sandwich, pretty much, with whatever kind of meat you have inside and some tomatoes and lettuce. We got the carne asada, but it was super dry and chewy. Would not recommend the carne asada and the torta. This one was about $13, I believe. In total, it was around 55 with tax and tip for a party of 4, so it was actually pretty well priced. We left pretty full, so I would recommend, but wouldn't say it was the best food we have had but good enough for us on the road drive back. read more

San Marcos Mexican Grill is a small Mexican restaurant located in a corner of a shopping plaza. It would be easy to miss, but it was close to my hotel (walking distance) and made fr a quick place to grab a meal (or so I thought). I stopped in and was seated relatively fast. They brought me my chips and salsa and then I waited. And waited. And...waited. Finally, my server came over and took my drink order. I also ordered my meal. I went with the birria tacos (which were about fifteen dollars). My food came out pretty quickly. I asked if they had homemade hot sauce. My server said that he would bring it right over. I waited. And waited. And...guess what? I....waited. I finally started on my meal. I finished the rice. Then started on one of the birria tacos. Then tried to wait, but honestly, my food was getting cold. I slowly finished my second birria taco. I finally admitted to myself that I was forgetten and finished my third and final birria taco. My dinner is now done and my plate clean and now I am sitting here waiting to see if my server would still bring me my hot sauce. Nothing. Still no sight of the server nor my hot sauce (homemade or otherwise). I am here waiting an insane amount of time and I was never brought hot sauce nor checked on once. Still no appearance of my server. I have been here over an hour and finally another server came and took my empty plate and brought me my check. I probably should give a less than for star rating, but this server just might be having an off night. Or he might be new. Or he might stormed out after quitting. I guess that I will never know. I paid my bill (and still tipped twenty percent) and took one last look around and did not see my original server. I guess the birria tacos were okay. They could have used more salt, but they were decent enough. I will give San Marcos Mexican Grill based on the food. I definitely have had better, but Marianna, Florida is a smaller town and there probably are not a lot more Mexican restaurant options. So, based on the geography, I will give it four stars. If I factored in the service, that rating would plummet to one or two stars, but I am hoping that my experience with the service at San Marcos Mexican Grill was an anomaly. I really can't recommend here because of the lengthy delay and the disappearance of my server, but if you are at this exit, this was my choice and it is here or a national chain or fast-food. read more

Food is ok. Very loud, not a great experience when dining with a group as it's too loud. Servers try hard, it's not their fault that the food is just ok. I think they seat too many people thus stressing everything for quality. Go to Cancuns downtown on 90 you will love it! I'm on the road, so I'll cut to the chase. Very cute, kitschy, clean and friendly local place. Cute? Each banquette and chair has a relief statue that is produced in Mexico. Tuesday night and the place was PACKED with locals. The food was good...zero complaints and only one suggestion on the beef dip that was attacked before a photo could be taken. In my opinion, a diced jalapeño or habanero added for heat...it was absolutely fine without. Everything was hot and fresh. The Bistec steamed until almost the end of dinner. Look, I have eaten at many Mexican restaurants...some very good. To me, it wasn't great, but it was good enough...BUT, to the locals it might have been great. So ordered the table side guacamole, which consisted of one avocado 2 oz of tomato, 2 ounces of onions, and 2 oz of jalapenos with a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Overall the guac was just decent for me. For my entree I ordered the fajitas mixtas. There were 3 shrimp, and some cut up chicken which was dry, and some pieces of steak served with a tablespoon of guac over lettuce, rice which lacked flavor, and pinto beans. When we ordered our food I gave him custom instructions since I'm gluten and dairy free, he didn't write a single thing down and then went to another table and talked to them before putting in our order. I was sure that the order was going to come out wrong, but surprisingly he got it entirely correct, I was impressed. Prices were very reasonable, service was great and parking was easy. read more

We were surprised to find this colorful, small restaurant next to a Dollar Store in a rather old shopping plaza, but it was close to our hotel and recommended by the hotel staff. We made reservations which was a good thing, because even at 5:30 they were packed. A good salsa and chips were brought out immediately and our tasty beers quickly followed. I chose chicken Quesadilla and my husband the Bistec a la Tampiquena. While both were tasty...mine had chunks of roasted chicken...his was hard crusted around the edges because of the way it was cooked and presented in a sizzling platter and had too many onions for his taste. The waiters all had English as a second language, were most pleasant and really hustled. If we stayed in Mariane again, we would definitely eat here again. read more

San Marcos is a good Mexican restaurant. Good decoration inside. I got their best sellers Carne Asada. Their dish come with rice, fried beans, guacamole, lettuce and salsa. It is also has tortilla to go with it. The dish come with sizzling steak over the caramelize onion. The steak is round rib eye steak. Good quality of food and come with two big pieces. Before they serve the food, they give you a good amount of basket of chip. Service of the restaurant is a bit slow at the end. But it was great when you sit down initially. First you walk into very clean restaurant with Diego Rivera-like murals painted on the chairs. Roman was an excellent waiter and the food was excellent value with thorough menu fare. It included savory shrimp tacos, grilled chicken enchiladas on a perfect corn tortilla to talk about, steak fajitas and a delicious chimichanga. All we needed was some sopapillas for dessert. The BEST Carnitas I have ever had! Served sizzling (like fajitas) with onions sizzling along side of the pork. I've never had it served like that and am now ruined for what we have in our home town. I stopped in here on my way to Tallahassee for a quick lunch. I ordered the combo plate that had a taco chicken enchilada cheese enchilada and a tamale with rice. The tamale had very little meat as you can see in the picture the chicken enchilada was very good as well as the cheese was good. I really wasn't a fan of their salsa but it was OK. She responded "We don't have tequila". I asked what they served in their margaritas... it's "wine". I changed my order to a beer. We went on to order the queso. It came out runny. I still had hope. We ordered a chimichanga and enchiladas. A Taco Bell bean burrito in a panini press would be a thousand times better!! I have never spit out food in a restaurant before but today was my first!! We're were in Marianna to call on a customer and decided to have lunch as we were early for our appointment so we tried this place and were very pleasantly surprised at how good of an experience we had. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating, especially our server Elias. The salsa for the chips was not too spicy but very flavorful and my San Marcos lunch salad was the perfect size and I ate the whole thing. The ambience is charming with very tasteful decor. Lucky Me! This restaurant is right next to the Pilot travel center. Usually I'm stuck with the truck stop fast food places but not today. Read the reviews and decided to try and so thankful I did. Alexis was my server, she was very friendly and even made som recommendations. I opted for the three steak tacos, rice and beans. I have had them all over the country and was surprised with their tacos. Definitely the best I've ever eaten and I am very strict with reviews. The corn tortillas were light, fluffy and flavorful and the steak tender with lots of flavor. Rice and beans were delicious. I asked for the homemade hot sauce and got a surprising look back, that too was delicious, some kick but a lot of flavor. Probably one of my favorite Mexican restaurants of all time. Sandwiched between a Waffle House and Walmart, San Marcos Mexican Grill serves up one of the best Mexican food on the Interstate. There's a Pilot next door so truckers, park that rig and make the short walk. Service was outstanding as well. Hat tip to Cristan, excellent and attentive service. This could probably be a fantastic Hispanic take out place if they could ever get the orders correct. On three separate occasions, I have ordered Nachos and they have gotten them wrong all three times. When ordering over the phone, the wait staff constantly affirms your order, so you think, okay, surely they'll get it correct. They won't. The orders you place for take out are shoddily thrown together and the nachos barely have any cheese. I guess that's okay though because the waiters have bow ties. read more

This was the first time my boyfriend and I have eaten here, but we both really enjoyed it. It is tucked away in a strip mall next to Walmart so if you aren't looking for it specifically you probably wouldn't even see it. The staff was very friendly and even gave us great suggestions. The prices were reasonable and the restaurant was clean. We started with the chips and salsa, which were nice. The salsa had a good flavor and was very fresh tasting and the chips were warm. We drank sangria and let me just say it was one of the best sangria's I have ever had! I highly recommend it! For dinner my boyfriend got 49a which was grilled chicken fajita style with mushrooms and cheese. It was flavorful, fresh and juicy. I got the combination E which was a taco, enchilada, Chile relleno and rice and beans. Everything was delicious. I didn't know what kind of enchilada it was and was pleasantly surprised with it being flavorful ground beef. For dessert, we had fried ice cream because it's my favorite. This is my second time to this restaurant. The first time was back in April 2023 coming back from Destin. The food was amazing than and the portion was a good amount. Stopped there going to Pensacola this past Friday and the experience was not the same even though I ordered the same meal as before. The chimichanga had half of the chicken portion than when I stopped there the first time and the actual tortilla wrapping was saggy not crispy like the first time. I even asked our waiter if they had changed chefs and explained my reason. He said no. I don't know if it was an off day for them and this is the reason I am giving them a 3 instead of a 2.
