Valentine's Day I decided to take someone I just met on our first date for dinner here. For some reason she seemed uneasy and wanted to leave the restaurant before we finished. We've been out on a few dates since and she just admitted to me today the reason was the waiter kept hitting on her, asking her to meet him and ask him for her phone number. I don't speak Spanish. I have waited several months to write this review for El Jalisco. We used to dine here quite a bit and honestly their customer service has always been pretty bad. The food was relatively decent but we always left asking each other why exactly we keep going back. The last time we went though was the last time we'll ever dine here. We had ridiculously bad service and I only tipped 10%. My husband and I both spent many years working in restaurants so we usually tip around 40%. So for us to tip like that means our service was really bad. This is relevant because when I was totaling the check I noticed it was under $100. So the next day I went to transfer money from our checking account and noticed that there was a pending charge from El Jalisco for over $100 and another pending charge for $10. I am not someone who keeps my receipts and then goes back to verify them. The only reason it caught my eye was because the charge was over $100 and I remembered noticing we hadn't broke $100 the night before. I immediately thought that our server was mad we only tipped 10% and changed his tip. So we went up to the restaurant that night to speak to the manager/possible owner only to find out that our server hadn't changed his tip but he HAD forgotten to charge us for two of our beers. So after we left the manager/possible owner added the two beers to our already signed and totaled out credit card agreement. I was absolutely dumbfounded when he told me this and tried to explain to him that there is no case where that is even remotely legal. At this point the server pulls out his wallet and starts trying to hand us cash. I told him this wasn't his problem or responsibility and this was the manager/possible owner's issue. I told the manager he knew he should have either had the server pay for the beers or the restaurant should have eaten the cost and that there was no way he didn't know changing the credit card amount was illegal. He agreed and then kept trying to play stupid and kept trying to give us the money back. I couldn't make him understand that I had no problem paying for something we drank and that my problem was with him changing my credit card agreement without my permission. I also asked him how I could believe he doesn't just add a little more to everyone's card and he assured me he didn't have a way to do that. When I pointed out he had a way to change mine he didn't have an answer. I then asked him to explain why we had another charge from them on our account and was very adamant that it wasn't them. According to him once the card was ran there wasn't another way to charge it. I then tried to make him understand that he obviously had the ability to because he had changed our initial bill! He couldn't give me an answer for any of this. We left and told them to leave the charge for the beers on our card. When I called the bank the next morning to question the other charge it was miraculously gone. If it had been the server that changed his tip then I would have been mad, but I would eventually gotten over it and dined here again. All businesses have the occasional bad apple. The fact that the manager/possible owner has the ability to change a signed credit card agreement and can't see the issue with it makes this somewhere I could never trust again. read more

I was thrilled that we would have an El Jalisco closer and I feel like its the only thing that would survive in that building, but I was disappointed. There is never available parking, but I finally found a spot a few weeks ago. The building looks great on the outside...not too bad inside, but I like 23rd street better. We were never given silverware even though they were wrapping it right next to us, our waiter would disappear for long periods and we had nothing to drink most of the time. I ordered an enormous margarita and did not feel like it had a drop of alcohol. Instead of fixing the problem, they charged me for another plus four shots. Lastly, the food I ordered was missing ingredients listed on the menu description. There is nothing to make us want to return. :( read more

This food is the most authentic Mexican food in Panama City ...in my opinion. Great chips, salsa mild to hot, great atmosphere but to loud. Service is great - fast! El Jalisco's in Lynn Haven 5 star for sure. read more

So when I ordered a cocktail-unbelievably I was charged $8 for the liquor and $1 for the additional ingredient. The carbonated ingredient added was flat which contributed to a very poor tasting mixed drink!! Children's entrees were ordered and we realized later that the charge on the final bill was $3 more than stated on the menu, per child. The waiter was polite but had difficulty understanding our requests at times. My family and I will not return to this location!! read more

Horrible!! I live in Lynn Haven and was excited to see El Jalisco open close by since we LOVE the one on 23rd St. We've eaten there 3 times now and each time I've hoped it would get better. Our last visit was the final straw. Our waitress took forever to even come to our table (they were not busy at all) and when she did she seemed genuinely annoyed right at the start. Never came back to refill our drinks (had to ask another server) even though she would pass right by our table and shoot us a dagger glance. When our food came 2 of us had the wrong food. When I asked her to tell me what she wrote down on her pad when we ordered she wouldn't look and kept insisting to look at our plates. Only then would she repeat back what we ordered after seeing what was brought to us. Never again!! read more

My third and final visit to this place. All three visits the bar area was filthy, counter sticky and covered in food scraps and drink rings, even the cash register was covered in salt and food smudged finger prints this time; if you can't keep it clean, I don't even want to think about what is in the kitchen, settled for chips and salsa. What finally pushed my wife and I over the edge this time was trying to order a draft beer, first try, keg empty, second try, keg empty then settled for a bottle of beer which was flat and warm. This, plus the credit card scam nonsense last year makes sure I will never return to this place, defiantly sticking to the 23rd street location, I recommend you do too! read more

Went for lunch today I really want to give this 2 1/2 stars. We split the 2 for 1 margaritas and each had the Steak burritos the food was okay the steak was to salty. The veggies were nice and fresh the rice was cold . The service had much to be desired $37.00 later including tip over priced lunch and still hungry salsa was great but the chips were not the light fresh cooked ones they were hard dark ones. Unfortunately I have to agree with the comments before mine. Management is the issue at this restaurant. This restaurant is beautiful outside and nice inside. A lot of work has gone into this place which is ridiculous that they can't manage it properly. Went for lunch a few weeks ago and it was great once the waitress finally got it right. Tonight the order wasn't right and it just went downhill from this. The management had the attitude that what he brought would be just as good. It wasn't and the meal I ordered and finally got wasn't good either. I am hopeful they will adjust and correct their deficiencies. My suggestion would also be to properly train the wait staff. Then again, most wait staff in this area have no training and it's evident. read more

We normally eat at the original location on 23rd St, but we were in Lynn Haven so we thought we would try this location. The food doesn't even come close to the original El Jalisco on 23rd, sauce is bland and no difference from flavor of taco, burrito, or enchilada. The sauces taste the same and are thin and watery. We will not be back. Waitstaff and Manager are all very nice and friendly and restaurant is very pleasant and clean, the food is just plain and blah. read more

The food was very good and medium priced. The Mahi Mahi fish tacos were very good with extra limes squeezed juice and added fresh cilantro to give it a more zesty flare. This fish was a little over cooked but still yummy. My husband got the chili rienos and a chicken soft taco he loved it. The atmosphere was festive and clean. The food was very good so this is why they get two stars...other then that the service wasn't worth it. It took more then five minutes after being seated before anyone came to our table to take a drink order. It took even longer for a food order to be placed. The food was awesome as I said but it took a very long time for it to come out. I'm ok with waiting for good food but this was exceptional. We went for lunch so to me it should be quicker so you can move on with your plans that day. But this took over 90 minutes start to finish. I wouldn't suggest it to anyone. read more

Ate there about a year ago and it was average, was going to give it another try on a to go order. Asked for rice and beans on my wife taco salad and they said it was a side and wanted $5.00 extra. Are you kidding me, $5.oo for a spoonful of rice and beans? Said forget it, won't be going back. read more

Grabbed lunch here last week, portions were huge, and tasted great! (Keep in mind, I'm not a fan of Mexican food, but this was good.)

When we got there the people were loud and annoying so we ask the manager if you can make them more quite but they gave us a attitude. Also my sister ask the guy that he needs to take out the seed in the guacamole and the guy said in these exact words " I have been doing this go a long time I know how to do this." So we told the manager Elizabeth gave us more off a attitude. So when they were finished with the guacamole one of them were good but the guy that gave us the attitude made it chunky and didn't even mix it up. My dad and moms anniversary dinner was ruined so we got up and went to Taco Bell and to be honest it was better than El Jalisco. So I would say to never eat there read more

The most expensive Mexican restaurant i ever been, not good food and terrible service, never again...

Being big fans of the 23rd st El Jalisco, we decided to try this Lynnhaven one since it is closer, thinking it would be the same. Wrong! Does not even come close to being as good as the other one. The fish tacos were very bland and came with barely enough Pico for 1 taco, much less all 3. I asked for more pico and by the time the waitress finally brought it, I was almost done. The waitress said the dinner came with rice, and said I could sub refried beans for the rice. Well, when I got the bill, I was charged for the extra pico and charged extra for the beans also! The waitress said it was her mistake, the dinner did not include rice so she had to charge for the beans. Unbelievable! Oh yeah, the margaritas are half the size compared to the other place. My wife's chili relleno was not good either. All together, very unimpressed with this new place. We will happily return to the 23rd st one from now on. I blame the manager here too. The waitress asked the manager to remove the charge for the extra pico, but he refused. Very poor customer service from management to server! read more
