Bought a steak bowl, white rice and other goodies. Bowl was huge and the steak was tasty. Thought I would be able to drink a beer with my meal but no alcohol which has to hurt business so close to downtown State College. Fed 3 for $32. Music might be loud for some, it did not bother me. Feel good about the 4 star rating.

I've visited this location numerous times, and while it's never been the cleanest, I suppose that's somewhat expected given its location in a college town. However, today was particularly disappointing. I stopped by after picking up my daughter from school and found it quite dirty. There was garbage on the floor when I walked in, and it remained there when I left. I had the shrimp tacos, it was not a good choice. The tortilla was barely warmed and falling apart, making it messy and hard to eat. The shrimp were overcooked, and the overall presentation of the food was not fresh, it appeared to have been sitting there for an extended period.

Their food is so good!!! whether it's after a night out or when I'm completely sober, it always hits the spot. The queso is delicious, and the quesadillas always come out hot and fresh (love that they come with a side of sour cream!). I also love watching them make everything right in front of me. The nachos are awesome too, and honestly everything I've tried here has been delicious. Definitely one of my go-to spots :)

When we went to drop our daughter to state college, we decided to go for Mexican food. Our daughter suggest for El Jefe's and it was worth it.. we went for Rice bowl and Veggies Nachos and it was very nice.. definitely better than Chipotle .. Ambiance of this little restaurant was also nice and was giving feeling of small Mexican joint .. Highly recommended!!

I really appreciate the speed and the willingness to bring more free chips! Normally I go straight for the tacos, which are always a hit. The specials on the back of the menu are SO worth checking out for some more unique finds. Today I tried a torta (forgive me forgetting the menu name) with birria that was absolutely fantastic. The combinations are also a great price, especially if you can make it for lunch. Of course, I'd be remiss if I didn't also mention the happy hour. You can get some great deals here and they have an excellent drink selection. Alongside the alcoholic beverages there are also non-alcoholic smoothies with the same flavor options as daiquiris, so great options there too!!

Table share guacamole was ordered as mild, but it was bland and packed with raw onions. Elote street corn was good,I missed that char on top of corn and a little more kicky sauce, but it was ok. My Baja fish tacos was extremely bland and dry, cabbage was just shredded,no sauce ,no flavors at all. Fish was ok though.Fried ice cream was horrible, just build of ice cream in stale coating. They took it off the menu, servers are nice, atmosphere is festive and people seemed to enjoy. Didn't work for me

What a special spot in Central PA! We stopped here after seeing that there were a number of vegan…read moreoptions available and were not disappointed. For an area with slim vegan pickings, this felt like a gold mine. We ended up trying a few menu items and they were all delicious and tasted quite fresh. My biggest gripe was that the risotto was made with a medium grain rice rather than a traditional Arborio, and that the prices for food were on the higher end given the portion sizes. The cider flight was delicious. There is plenty of seating, include extensive outdoor seating that looks out to the forests surrounding. Indoors is filled with spooky, eclectic industrial decor. The staff were friendly and thoughtful. It's a gem of a spot!

We walked in expecting a typical dining experience with a menu but found out things had changed…read moredramatically. Our hostess, who we later found out was the owner, explained to us that if we wanted food, we could order it from outside where there was a traveling chef with a pizza oven. This was a big change from the usual menu and what we had expected. We decided to go with the flow, take a seat at the Ouija board table, place our drink orders, and go outside to order food. This week the chef had a woodfired pizza oven. Keep in mind, cider is the focus here. So, my husband's old fashioned was made with cider. Hearing this, I asked for my cider on the side rather than in my cosmo. We learned that the owner's background is movie set design and that she worked on movies like Harry Potter, so the decor was a combination of old industrial plant and haunted house. The bar had "potions" with smoke oozing out. There were also skeletons and skulls throughout the restaurant along with spooky photos that changed from normal to scary. She even allowed us to explore the different back rooms one of which she called the "swamp room." The pizza was good, and we enjoyed listening to the live music which wasn't overwhelmingly loud. Overall, everyone was kind and made us feel welcome. We later ordered the blueberry cobbler for dessert which was warm and tasty.
