    What's supposed to be Sopapillas
    Annie L.

Tell you how I really feel?... I believe if I am excited to write a good review when I'm so inspired, I also feel obligated to write just as honest of a review when I am disappointed enough. We all work hard for our money and have a limited time on this earth so know that I don't enjoy wasting either and don't expect you to. I thought I time traveled back into the pandemic days because it seemed the food items were made out of other ingredients. The sopapillas, for example, were more of a wheat bread roll which I'm not sure if it was overly deep fried or still doughy, but definitely had zero airy space in the middle. See pic. Wouldn't be able to tell you what it was by looking at it if I didn't order it myself. The churros. SMH. Sighhh. Not at all even worth the calories. To somewhat compensate, the fried ice cream got eaten. How do you mess up dessert?? My boyfriend choked... because there was no water at the table. The queso con chorizo was.. unpalatable, sadly. For a staple I order at every Mexican restaurant, this should just not be served or even listed on the menu. For posterity we ordered a "cheese crispy" as this is a must have in any Arizonan Mexican establishment. Even though the menu described this item as a fried flour tortilla with melted cheese, it was actually a deep fried dough, sort of like a fry bread you get at the fair, and not what we were anticipating. The house marg as well as skinny marg both tasted like they had Sprite in them. Whaaat?? We went home and made our own margs. The carne asada burrito was filled with rice and beans (along with the plate combo portion of rice and beans), which other burritos explained explicitly yet the carne asada one did not so we were expected a lot more meat in the hefty burrito. The rice and beans weren't bad, though. Chips and salsa were good. Still can't bring myself to scoot from 2 to 3 stars. 2 because they were open, we were hungry, and we were served. Needless to say, yet I will anyway, I do not see us ever returning and will continue the search of a decent Mexican spot in Green Mountain- considering Chipotle to be #1 at this point. Help.

I will dream of the smokey margarita and mole sauce. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. We started with cheese dip, salsa and the cabbage - everything had great flavor. Service is quick, the place is clean. If you want tasty Mexican food this is the spot. Stand alone building with parking, might have been a pizza hut in a former life. Enjoy

Post day hike eats. Although I've never noticed this spot before. How? The dull outside painting? Anyways close friends recommended that we stop after our Chief Mountain Trail hike. I ordered the Carne Asada Plate and their Cantarrito. Both are really good. The carne asada was tender and well seasoned. The rice was seasoned as well. The decor is on point. Service a bit slow but Im ignoring this for now. The rest is awesome! Yes there's parking and when we walked in it was nearly empty for lunch. But customers started trickling in. But don't let this deter you. It means nothing! Oh their flan is legit! It's smooth! I'll be back!

I've tried quesa birria tacos at dozens of places. My favorite. None hold a candle to what I experienced tonight. Next level.

This would be a five star review minus two things…read more 1. My menu was filthy. Sticky and needed cleaning desperately. Menus are touched by people all day and as such need to be cleaned. 2. A three percent credit card fee. I despise credit card fees and often avoid places that charge them. Aside from the two points I made above, this restaurant was fantastic. I received a fifty percent off coupon in the Money Nailer and decided to give it a shot. I invited my brother in law and headed over. Plentiful and close in parking. The outside of the building is rather basic but the inside is nothing but vibrant colors and beautiful decorations. The color schemes really worked for me. We were seated within a minute of walking in the door and had chips and salsa thirty seconds later. Our drink order was taken immediately and the woman taking the order was friendly and pleasant. Our waiter, showed up a few minutes later and took our order. I ordered the fish taco salad and my brother in law ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp fajitas. Both meals showed up in about 15 minutes and were piping hot and fresh. I could hear the fajitas sizzling for a full two minutes. My fish taco salad was amazing and I enjoyed every bite. The bacon wrapped shrimp fajitas looked and smelled incredible. My brother in law said they tasted as good as they smelled and looked. We also shared a shrimp cocktail that knocked my panties off. Or, would have, had I been wearing any. LoL. This was a great lunch and I will happily return. I really hope they read this and clean the menus. Very unattractive.

We arrived early at 5pm and it was already packed! The secret is out! Service was friendly. Margs were delicious. Good was great. Loved that the Burria tacos are crispy and not so oily that so many places get wrong. Chips, salsa and guacamole were great. Breakfast burritos all day which made my friend and husband very happy. I would probably get the tacos next time. We will definitely be back! Parking was easy to find on the street.

I don't remember what I ordered though so at the time it just wasn't very stand out-ish. I recently went back with some friends because I told them I was in the mood for tacos. I tried a few different ones, the Carnitas, the Barbacoa, and the Lengua. I was full with three, but it was so good. I ordered a fourth and my husband who normally gets my leftovers - didn't get any leftovers from me this time! He got a couple different tacos from what I had largely. We ordered about the same, but he got the shrimp which he said was delicious as well. I also tried the signature, Bellanova margarita - I must say that was a little unexpected, not your traditional margarita it was very sweet, so probably not something I'd order again since I prefer stronger tasting drinks, but the coconut flavor in it was delicious if you like coconut. The service was excellent! When we arrived, the interior was super packed and super loud so I was very relieved when we got to sit on the back patio, which turned out great because even though there was a little noise there, we were able to hear each other much better. The server was excellent. She kept checking on us. She answered all our questions and was very kind and accommodating. I've been thinking about the tacos since then, it's been about a week, I can't wait to go back.

It's also very unassuming. It looks like a very small restaurant on the outside but once you are inside, you'll be shocked to see its good size dining area. This place is all about happiness. I mean seriously!! They care about their customers that get satisfied with their service and meals. And it does draw a very diverse crowd from the Hispanics to Caucasians to Asians, I mean you name it. They also get a lot of to-go orders. Some people came in, grabbed their food and went on their way for the night. My friend got the Torta Los Carboncito. This is a massive sandwich with plenty of meat inside. Since the menu has colored picofor almost each item, what caught my attention was the fish dish. There are two of them: one is trout and the other is something else (I forgot) but I got me the non-trout one. The lady asked me if I wanted the flour or corn tortillas so I went with the corn one. As soon as I got home, my late night snacking started. I only took several bites out of that whatever the huge fish. And oh my goodness, it was so delicious! Well-seasoned with very light salt. Although I mainly got it for tomorrow morning/lunch I had a hard time quit eating because of its deliciousness. Extremely welcoming staff (I even met the owner, Alex as he was dining with his family), quality food and value pricing, this place checks out for the hidden gem restaurant that's not necessarily super fancy but it's worth every penny and time. Yelping is so much fun. That is why I cannot quit my foodie-ness! What a nice discovery!
